Spiritual leader brings words of peace and tolerance to Maryland students.
The Dalai Lama urges peace, compassion and dialogue — all of which seem in short supply in Tibet, the land he fled in 1959 and now is roiled by tensions between its Chinese rulers and nationalists yearning for their spiritual leader's return.
He never mentioned Tibet's troubles Tuesday in a lecture at the University of Maryland. But he decried violence to solve political problems. "The worst thing about it, it is always unpredictable," he said. "It may create unexpected consequences."
The 14th Dalai Lama's American visit follows by two weeks the deaths of three more Tibetans by self-immolation. Since 2011, more than 100 Tibetans have died after setting themselves on fire to protest Chinese policies and call for the Dalai Lama's return from exile.
For the past half-century, he has been based in northern India, site of Tibet's government in exile. He retired as head of it two years ago.
In his unscripted talk to about 15,000 people at the university basketball arena, the 1989 Nobel Peace Prize winner did mention other disputes — between Catholics and Protestants in Northern Ireland, between Sunni and Shiite Muslims in the Middle East and between Muslims and Buddhists in India.
He called on people to "respect even your enemy — talk, shake hands, make clear your differences."
There wasn't much new in his remarks. As he admitted, "Wherever I go, I always talk about this. … My brain becomes almost like a machine."
Few in the audience seemed to mind. It was less a lecture than a love fest, starting with the standing ovation when he walked on stage. "He's got such an awesome spirit. You want to listen to him," said Jamal Scott, 18, of Baltimore.
The Dalai Lama opposes self-immolation as a political tactic, saying it offends the sacredness of life. But the Chinese government says the campaign is inspired by him or his followers to create a separate Tibetan state.
Dressed in maroon monk's robes and sporting a buzz cut, the 77-year-old alternately challenged and charmed his audience.
He told its younger members that this is their century and "you have the opportunity and the responsibility to create a new world, a happier world ... on the basis of the oneness of humanity."

Ghost Hunting Certification & Paranormal Ethics – Wednesday, July 17, 2013
It’s 3 AM, you’re awakened by the noise of doors
slamming, the sound of tapping on the walls, and you see hallway lights flicker
off and on. You get out of bed and find
you’re the only one in the house. You try to reason what just took place and
all you can come up with that is that it’s a ghost. A bit frightened, you
decided that maybe it’s time to call your local ghost hunting group to come
over and investigate.
Who are you letting into your home? Are they
trained? Do they really know what a ghost is? Or a demon? Do they think that
demons and ghosts are interchangeable? Are these ghost hunters convicted felons
or child abusers? Maybe you’ve asked for the ghost hunters’ credentials and are
told you have nothing to worry about. But do you?
They find something and things calm down and
everything goes back to normal — for now — until one day when you’re surfing
the internet and you notice photos of your home on that paranormal group’s
website. You also find those photos on other related sites. Those local ghost
hunters have published the findings of your case on the web! Did you give
permission for them to do so? You also might discover that they’ve made money
off your case, using it in a book and/or video was used to pitch a show idea.
They’ve also done lectures at paranormal conferences, where the team leader was
paid to give a presentation of your case, but you never gave permission for any
of this. Not only were you unknowingly exploited, you weren’t compensated.
On the other side of the spectrum, maybe you want to
be a ghost hunter, a paranormal investigator, or a demon chaser. You watch
Ghost Hunters, Ghost Adventures, My Ghost Story and other paranormal shows. You
listen to paranormal radio, and read everything on the subject. You have a
Facebook page, a Twitter page, and a YouTube account. You’ve spent hundreds, if
not thousands of dollars, on a variety of gadgets — but does that really make
you a ghost hunter?
You decide to take a class that will lead you to
being a certified ghost hunter. It’s an online class and it’s the equivalent of
about 10 hours of field study. To get your certification, all you need to do is
read a book, take a test, and get a photo ID. After accomplishing these things,
you receive a fancy looking certificate that says you’re a certified ghost
hunter. Who certified the people who certify you? Can you cover the topics
about the paranormal in a few hours?
We'll also talk about my forthcoming book on Theresa Caputo Is the Long Island Medium the Real Deal?
As a weekly feature, Kirby will also share some book
reviews and recommendations, as well as his infamous incredible "BAD BAD
Thing Awards."
Showtime begins at 7 PM or 10 PM EST. Here's the

Lord I Surrender All
By Evangelist Stephen Piersall
God's Preservation Ministry, sfprs.org/
Lord I Surrender All! Humanity from all across the globe has become desensitized to the reality of Jesus Coming and the reality of Hell. Satan owns the media and everyday has gained more ground to influence our selfish lives away from God. Who still goes to church? Do you even pray for someone when you tell them that you will? Are you aware there is still 66 books in the Bible, and when is the last time you have even opened one book, one chapter, one verse? Do you like a challenge? If so, dare to watch this 19-minute video and afterwards read the rest of this blog and complete some more dares. I dare you!
Dare you again to share this video with your family and friends. BIG DARE! Dare you to have a conversation with everyone you have shared this video with, and explain your stance on where you stand in your life of whether you are going to Heaven or Hell. Let me remind you, as we age in years and maturity that time is running out in the hourglass of our life. Pick up a newspaper, turn on the local and national news feed, see who died today, and perhaps did not make a vow to follow Jesus and accept Salvation. The time to surrender your life to Jesus has come!
Staying Free After Deliverance: sfprs.org/
Jesus used deliverance ministry to bring freedom to those afflicted by Satan and his demons. After being set free, please pay careful attention to the following points which will allow you to continue to live in freedom:
Reading the Word every day. II Timothy 3:16-17
Praying everyday. Ephesians 6:18
Worship. John 4.22-24
Having Christian fellowship (join local church). Matthew 18:19-20
Keeping the doors closed. Galatians 5: 16-26
Resisting the Devil as necessary. James 4:7
Confessing the positive and relying on the promises of God. Mark 11:24
Make Godly Choices. Deuteronomy 30:19 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. John 8:32

Is It Arrogant to Speak with Certainty Regarding the Paranormal?
By Reverend Mark Hunnemann
"And When Jesus finished these sayings, the crowds were astonished at His teaching, for He was teaching them as one who had authority, and not as their scribes." (Matt. 7:28-29)
Is it arrogant to authoritatively assert that ghosts are demons, and that the bible does not have any wiggle room on this? I thought this would be an appropriate way to pull together and apply all that we have been saying about the attributes of Scripture...its authority relative to paranormal matters. I have been known to be quite assertive and certain in my comments--this has not always gone over very well....It seems that an amount of confidence is okay, within "reason", BUT to speak with utter certitude is deemed cocky and arrogant. "This is the mystery realm...we revel in diverse opinions." And what about the folks who are suffering?
Suppose God Himself appeared to you. Further, suppose He said this to you...face-to-face: "I want you to tell everyone you can about how Satan, and those filthy demons, are deceiving my beloved people by pretending to be ghosts. When people die, I immediately send them to heaven or hell. I love you--now go!" Suppose you had such an encounter--would you have any problem with following His command? Would you hem and haw when the topic of ghosts came up in conversations? Would you worry about sounding arrogant when speaking with winsome certainty? Certainly not! So, why is there such a small band of brothers/sisters addressing this vital issue? And even less with convincing, loving certainty?
Jesus did not hem and haw; He spoke with utter certainty on a wide range of topics, and the crowds marveled..And we learned that the written Word of God carries with it all the authority of God's divine voice and the oral words of Jesus. That authority can be nothing less than ultimate and absolute. We have learned that when we read the bible we are not just reading verbiage...or just inspired sentences. WE ARE HAVING AN ENCOUNTER WITH THE REAL PRESENCE OF GOD HIMSELF!
We have repeatedly noted that the bible is 100 clear and emphatic that alleged ghosts are really demons
Let me give you this illustration from church history. The great reformer Martin Luther was engaged in debate with the learned Roman Catholic scholar Erasmus. What they were discussing was of immense importance, and this caused Luther to argue with great earnestness and zeal--the gospel was at stake! Well, being the gentleman and scholar that he was, Erasmus complained that Luther needed to show more humility and not be so dogmatic in his assertions. Uh oh...wrong thing to say! After thoroughly demeaning Erasmus (which Luther should not have done), he stated: "the Holy Spirit is NOT A SKEPTIC..." (Back in the day, the philosophical Skeptics debated everything and believed nothing) Luther's point is that it is not a sign of humility to hem and haw on a subject that the Holy Spirit has inspired and made clear. It is actually arrogant to NOT be assertive about subjects the bible is clear about because it implies that you are not trusting in its authority...autonomous thinking In other words, being utterly certain and confident in one's assertions regarding the bible's teaching (providing it is clear and done winsomely) is a sign of submission to the Lordship of Christ. Remember our hypothetical encounter...how certainty regarding our message would be the only reasonable response.
The paranormal receives a great deal of attention in the bible--explicitly or implicitly. Because of the amount of detail, it is crystal clear. Below is just a small list of some of the topics the bible is crystal clear about
1.God is the sovereign, holy creator and redeemer
2.The instant we die, all of our souls stand before God in judgement and we are sent to heaven or hell...Judgement Day is simply public pronouncement
3 The paranormal realm is Satan's temporary home
4. Attempting to speak to the dead is an occultic sin
5. There are no trapped spirits on earth
6. Virtually all paranormal activity is demonic
7. Identifying entities in the spirit realm is a theological issue and not a scientific issue.
It seems to me that the paranormal community will gladly receive opinions, no matter how farfetched, based on a false notion of paranormal unity. Hence, any antithetical assertions--A is right and B is wrong--is considered judgmental and closed minded.
To assert with winsome certainty that ghosts are demons is NOT arrogant...it is humbly agreeing with God--seeing ghosts through His eyes. The essence of wisdom is to fear God, and trusting that His word is more sure than life itself. What the church and world needs are folks who will speak with prophetic certainty regarding this doctrine of demons.
God has ORDERED US to get out and tell folks all that Jesus commanded...that is the Great Commission...which has become the Great Omission when it comes to telling the liberating truth to those confused by the paranormal or oppressed by the demonic. How can we blame so many folks for believing this Satanic lie when so few are obeying God's personal call to YOU AND I TO GO? Go, and assert with certainty!

Haunted Houses
By Lisa
Grace
The term "haunted
house" is a misnomer. Houses can be occupied by corporal creations or by
supernatural creatures that are
mentioned in the Holy Scriptures.
The reason I bring this up
is, I am currently visiting/staying at a house where my husband and I both had
a visit from a supernatural creature a couple of years ago. We did not summon
it (that's forbidden in the Bible) and we certainly were not expecting it. My
husband had never experienced the supernatural in such a hands on way before,
so this was a surprise.
We were in bed, but plenty of
light leaked in under the door from the next room. We had just turned in and
ended a conversation when something unseen ran across the covers, and over our
bodies. It had weight, it physically made depressions, and stepping sounds, and
we felt it through the comforter as it moved across the bed.
The first words out of my
husband's mouth were, "Did you see that?"
We weren't scared because we
know beyond 100% that the supernatural exists. We also know God is control and
we have His protection.
At the time someone whom we
assumed practiced witchcraft (because of the various spell books and
paraphernalia related to witchcraft that we saw around the house) was currently
living in the home, too. We assumed they had intentionally or unintentionally
invited “it” in through their practices.
We said a prayer asking the
entity to leave in Jesus’ name and peacefully went to sleep.
Now we’re back and have been
here for almost ten days. The person who owned the spell books no longer lives
here, and all the witchcraft items have been removed. We’ve had no visits from
supernatural creatures, and I don’t expect any either. Why?
Because of my faith, and my
husband’s and because any entity would be told to leave in Jesus’ name.
Now is the house haunted? No.
It had a supernatural occupant that was told to leave under God‘s authority
(not mine), which it did.
The problem with all these
haunting shows on TV is they should be just as boring as the true life incident
I related above. The creature engages you, then you command it to leave
permanently in Jesus’ name.
But the truth is—paranormal
seekers really don’t want these entities to leave. No, they want them to
stay—and interact, even in cases where you can see the human being possessed.
They treat it like it is a game, and talk excitedly about returning to interact
again.
The Holy Scriptures warn
about these interactions because they can lead to these evil creatures
attaching, possessing, or tormenting their human hosts.
Just like a house can be
occupied, so can a person or the area around them.
Keep your guard up, and call
in someone who will truly drive them away. Fifteen minutes of fame is truly not
worth the price you may have to pay for encouraging demonic manifestations to
interact with you.

Issue 125 – Another Day in the Land of Paranormal Scams
Issue 125 – Another Day in the Land of Paranormal
Scams
By Kirby Robinson
Every Wednesday night
from 10 to 11:30 EST/ 7 to 9:30 [PST] Kirby will be heard on the God Discussion
Show.
Tonight's Show - July
10th ~ Bad Psychics Exposed ~ Find Out How Naughty They Are!
Guess what? Paranormal fakes and bad psychics don't
give birth to kids-- just more paranormal scams!
The First Real Look into the World of Theresa Caputo the Long Island
Medium
We hoped the eBook about the Long Island Medium would
be published today but it's been delayed until July 16th.
Here's the official press release:
NEW eBook Questions the Long Island Medium's Abilities
Long Island Medium is the hit reality show
starring Theresa Caputo as a brassy Hicksville, New York housewife, mother and
medium. Each week the audience watches her deliver messages from the dearly
departed who tell their loved ones they are safe and at peace.
But are they really?
In this groundbreaking new book, Is the Long Island Medium the Real Deal?,
author and demonologist Kirby Robinson examines her claims of mediumship
and what's on The Other Side. The author succeeds in raising many doubts as he
asks:
- Who is Spirit?
- What are cold readings?
- Are mediums dangerous?
- What is the Christian view on mediums and
communicating with the dead?
- Who taught Theresa to do readings and what are the
teacher's qualifications?
- What is really on The Other Side?
Theresa joins the growing list of questionable mediums
and psychics like John Edwards, Sylvia Browne, and James Van Praagh. These
individuals charge hundreds of dollars for readings that are inaccurate and
misleading. And none of them can withstand spiritual or scientific scrutiny.
By the time the reader finishes this book, they will
never view the subject of mediumship and communication with dead in the same
way.
Kirby Robinson is the author of Never Mock God:
An Unauthorized Investigation into Paranormal State's "I Am Six"
Case and other nonfiction paranormal titles. In 2008, he founded the
highly successful and controversial Eye on the Paranormal blog. He hosts a hit
radio program by the same name featured on the God Discussion Network. Using
25+ years of experience in the psychic/paranormal world, the author thoroughly
investigates Theresa's claims concerning her ability to talk to the dead.
A Fake Book About a Possible Fake Psychic by a Fake Author! Can it get More
Bizarre? Yes!
I was really surprised when we uncovered what might be
the lamest one ever!
As you might know, we've been busy on the Theresa Caputo
book. We can say that this will be the first critical book on her. There are a
couple of pro-Long Island Medium cut and paste jobs for $1.99 on Amazon. Both
covers have her picture on them and we wonder about copyright violations.
However, there is nothing published on her that dares to question her abilities.
Anyway, we discovered this page last month:
[In case the website goes down we have several screen shots here: http://eyeontheparanormal.blogspot.com/p/fake-caputo-book.html]
We were initially pleased to see that others were as concerned about the matter as us. Yet the closer we looked into the truth behind the claims of this page, the more problems we found.
Also, it became obvious that as we spent more time on
the page, the more things changed. It was as if someone was trying to muddy up
the water. They monitored the amount of time we spent on the page. We noticed
that the New York Times became The Times. Psychology Today's distinctive blue font was changed to just
Psychology.
What was taking place? And who is Dr. James L Pendergast?
Well the lies are far more interesting the truth.
Let's fact check everything on this page [we have screen
shots of all the changes].
~ Whether it's The Times [London] or The New York
Times, there has been no such review ever given to that book. No one at either
paper has ever heard of the book or of James L. Pendergast.
~ Notice the book award -- none ever given
~ The book cover has gone through 3 changes but no
book seller has ever heard of the book nor is there any record of it coming out
in October.
~ You see three glowing reviews for the book. None are
real
~ Telegraph = The Telegraph
~ Psychology = Psychology Today
~ Christian Monitor = Christian Science Monitor
None of the above has heard of the book, reviewed it, or
heard of a James L. Pendergast. No record of a Doctor Pendergast.
~ The quote attributed to the photo of the author just
below it is not of a James L Pendergast. This is a photo of Sir Ken Robinson [not
sure of any relation!]. He is a New York Times bestselling author and is well
known in the field of education and psychology. However, he has nothing to do
with a book about Theresa Caputo.
~ Every single claim in the next paragraph about his
great deeds is a lie. Pendergast has no bestselling books, is not a leader in
the field of psychology. Nor has he taught for 30 years at Harvard and
Cambridge.
~ More lies can easily be uncovered about the alleged
5/23/13 Los Angeles Times interview. It
simply doesn’t exist.
~ The next few paragraphs are full of lies and distortions
about Theresa Caputo.
~ No James L. Pendergast ever attended Harvard nor has
anyone by that name ever received two PhDs.
~ Claims of a PhD from Cambridge – not true.
~ He never had a show on the Discovery Channel UK. There
was never a speaking tour.
~ There is a new LinkedIn link.
1 He claims to be the Chair. at the School of
Psychiatry of Harvard since 1988. That’s news to Harvard! In fact, the Head of
the Dept. of Psychiatry is Executive Committee Chairperson David A.
Silbersweig, M.D.
2 He claims to be a professor at Cambridge. No such
person works there and none are affiliated with Cambridge University Press.
~ He claims to have published 22 bestsellers yet no
record of that exists. The title that shows up is a movie, not a book.
~ No one associated with NPR Books, Amazon or Barnes
& Noble are aware of The Theresa
Caputo Diaries. The book publisher Harvard Society Press must be a society
of 1 as no information exists for the company or the book.
If you’re a reader you might have figured out where
they dream up the name of James L Pendergast as he's a fictional character.
It's sad that innocent people and legitimate schools
and organizations' names and images are dragged through the mud. Save your
money and don't give it to Theresa Caputo. You can put your time to better use
and not watch the Long Island Medium.
Save your soul and don't listen to Theresa, and lastly, save $49.98 because you
probably won't ever see that book.
Next week you can buy a legitimate eBook about the
Long Island Medium that is well researched and written. And it'll cost you less
than $3!

Dalai Lama: 50 Thoughts for a Better World
On his 78th birthday, the Dalai Lama has highlighted 50 ideas that can help achieve world peace.
Below is an article published by Times of India:
1) If people trust you, you have no grounds for fear, suspicion or jealousy.
2) Despite the superficial differences between us, we need to have a sense that all 7 billion human beings belong to one human family.
3) What we do need to do is to find ways to incorporate advice about warm-heartedness into our education system.
4) When we develop care and concern by thinking of others not as ‘them’ but ‘us’, there is no room for bullying, exploitation or deceit.
5) Genuine peace is based on inner peace, because you cannot build peace on the basis of anger.
6) Our real guide is our own mind, our sense of reason. We naturally have self-interest, but it should be wise rather than foolish self-interest by taking others' needs into account as well as ours.
7) I feel that each of us has the potential to make some contribution, and together, working with a clear aim, we can change our world.
8) Human happiness depends on taking others into account.
9) If we make consistent effort, based on proper education, we can change the world.
10) It is expressions of affection, rather than money and power, that attract real friends.
11) We need to strengthen such inner values as contentment, patience and tolerance, as well as compassion for others.
12) Everybody wants a happy life and a peaceful mind, but we have to produce peace of mind through our own practice.
13) Just as ripples spread out when a single pebble is dropped into water, the actions of individuals can have far-reaching effects.
14) Serving and helping others out of compassion is non-violence in action.
15) Most of our problems are related to the mind, so we have to work to reduce our destructive emotions.
16) If we can refrain from harming others in our everyday actions and words, we can start to give more serious attention to actively doing good.
17) Placing all our hope on material development is clearly mistaken; the ultimate source of happiness is within us.
18) If we can cultivate a concern for others, keeping in mind the oneness of humanity, we can build a more compassionate world.
19) It’s unrealistic to think that the future of humanity can be achieved only on the basis of prayer. What we need is to take action.
20) Concern for others’ well-being reduces fear and suspicion, prompting the openness and transparency that gives rise to trust and friendship.
21) Anger, hatred and jealousy can never solve problems. Only affection, concern and respect can do that.
22) Refraining from harm - not out of fear, but out of concern for others, their well-being and out of respect - is non-violence.
23) Whether we are happy or not depends on our attitude; compassion, for instance, leads to a calmer mind.
24) Education is the way to achieve far-reaching results; it is the proper way to promote compassion and tolerance in society.
25) Healthy, happy families and a healthy peaceful nation are dependent on warm-heartedness.
26) The challenge today is to convince people of the value of truth, honesty, compassion and a concern for others.
27) To make this a century of dialogue, we need to find ways to promote a greater awareness of the oneness of humanity.
28) It is vital that when educating our children’s brains, we do not neglect to educate their hearts by nurturing their compassionate nature.
29) If you are honest, truthful, and transparent, people trust you.
30) Just as we encourage physical hygiene to preserve our health, we also need a sense of emotional or mental hygiene too.
31) We live in a world in which we are dependent on others; we cannot expect to fulfil our goals while disregarding others’ needs.
32) We forget that despite the superficial differences between us, people are equal in their basic wish for peace and happiness.
33) People think of animals as if they were vegetables, and that is not right. We have to change the way people think about animals. I encourage the Tibetan people and all people to move toward a vegetarian diet that doesn’t cause suffering.
34) Sex offers fleeting satisfaction and leads to trouble later, while chastity offers a better life and more independence, more freedom. Problems arising from conjugal life sometimes even lead to suicide or murder...
35) Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible.
36) Happiness is not something ready-made. It comes from your own actions.
37) Old friends pass away, new friends appear. It is just like the days. An old day passes, a new day arrives. The important thing is to make it meaningful: a meaningful friend or a meaningful day.
38) This is my simple religion. There is no need for temples; no need for complicated philosophy. Our own brain, our own heart, is our temple. The philosophy is kindness.
39) Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them, humanity cannot survive.
40) All major religious traditions carry basically the same message - love, compassion and forgiveness. The important thing is that they should be part of our daily lives.
41) When you are discontent, you always want more, more, more. Your desire can never be satisfied. But when you practice contentment, you can say to yourself: Oh yes. I already have everything that I really need.
42) The purpose of our lives is to be happy.
43) In the practice of tolerance, one's enemy is the best teacher.
44) We can live without religion and meditation, but we cannot survive without human affection.
45) When you practice gratefulness, there is a sense of respect toward others.
46) The roots of all goodness lie in the soil of appreciation for goodness. If you want others to be happy, practice compassion.

47) If you want to be happy, practice compassion.
48) It is important to consider others at least as important as ourselves. This is the essence of spirituality.
49) A number of people have said to me, after hearing my thinking, that their mind becomes much happier, concludes the Dalai Lama. I sure hope fellow seekers feel totally refreshed, like a walk in the rain, after this talk with the adorable and simple spiritual leader.
50) Reflect.
