Issue 98 – No More Christian Christmas!

It May Not Feel Like Christmas Much Longer

If anyone has their eyes open spiritually by the blood of Jesus Christ, they have noticed a war on Christmas by the anti Christian movement. Under the guise of so-called cultural sensitivity or religious open-mindedness, the good old ACLU is trying to remove Christ and God from the season -- and it seems they’re winning.

To me this is more proof that the foundation for the end times is being poured. Because the element of a loving God and His Son who died for us to be healed and freed from death has to be off the stage for this to happen.

In Rhode Island, the governor states that no one should call the Christmas tree in the state capital a Christmas tree…it’s to be called a holiday tree. Now we all know that the Christmas tree has nothing to do with the birth of Christ and a true celebration of His birth. In reality, some would point out that the pine tree is really a symbol of a fertility god, NOT the one true God. But it’s just one more step in the war to remove Christmas from the public’s mind.

In Georgia, a group of students has had a yearly Christmas tree sale as a fundraising event, but this year they’ve been banned from doing so. None of the groups that worked in stopping the sale ever mentioned giving money to the student group to make up the loss. I guess it’s more important to make a political statement than help students.

Years ago that bastion of conservative Christian values, Walmart, put profit over God when they advised the sales clerks to say happy holidays instead of Merry Christmas or Happy New Year. I’m always amazed by this as there is only one holiday that matters. New year is a manmade event, and as the hair grows even more gray I can’t figure the point of this one. Just as His Holiness the Dalia Lama states “same problems, different day.”

For the past 60 years, in Santa Monica, CA, there has been a Christmas display made up of scenes of the story of the birth of Christ. It’s has been presented by various local churches who bid on the open spots. Last year, the anti-God groups got together and outbid most of the local churches. They put together a group of vile displays mocking God. This year there is no display at all.

Until recently, a person could turn on the radio and hear “the best in Christmas hits.” But it has changed to “holiday hits.” Soon, you’ll tune in and hear such classics as:

“I’m Dreaming of a White Holiday.”
“I Heard the Bells on Holiday”
“Blue Holiday”
“Oh Holiday Tree”

I hate making predictions but in this case, I will. In ten years, finding any reference to the reason for the season will not happen. When a child asks a parent about why there’s Christmas, the response will not be the story of the birth of Christ, it will be “no other reason. Just to get gifts, eat, drink, and have fun.” All the while, a tear runs down Jesus’ face.

Culture Watch: Television & Demonaphobia

By Reverend Mark Hunnemann

The deception began with a bang. The DT crew (Destination Truth) went to the Mayan ruins, which was the site of untold number of human sacrifices to idols—which as the bible tells us is participating in demons. In light of this, one would have thought they would have put demons at least on their possible suspect list for the accelerated paranormal activity there; they didn’t. Instead, team DT posited, before even went there, that the recent accelerated activity was either due to the sacrificial victims or the Mayan warriors. Even though scared to death at points, demons were not even an option.

I try to stay in touch with popular culture, so I watch as many of the haunted TV shows as I can. What I am sharing is based on what I witnessed over the last month of watching the following shows: Destination Truth, Ghost Adventures, Haunted Collector, A Haunting, The Dead Files, Paranormal Witness, Haunted Highway, and one more about hauntings at colleges but I can’t for the life of me remember the name.  Sheesh. That is eight shows on three nights of the week (Tues., Wed., Friday). People’s beliefs and worldviews are unconsciously shaped by exposure to this much haunted TV, but this is but a tip of the paranormal iceberg on TV. One list had about fifty shows, which in some form or fashion, focus on the assumed reality of ghosts. FIFTY!  Of course they are not all on the same season schedule, and a few on the list are now cancelled—but as with The Ghost Whisperer or Charmed, re-runs are current with a number of these. That is an incredible number of shows, which reveals how we are witnessing a paradigm shift in our understanding of spirituality (topic for another day). This phenomenon is both a shaper of culture as well as a reflection of it.

My purpose in watching all these shows was in part to answer this question: is TV phobic regarding demons? The undeniable answer is “yes”; the vast majority of these shows avoid fingering demons as the cause of supernatural activity in homes or businesses. Whether it is the individuals or the networks (or both) that are demonaphobic, the reality is that the phobia is ubiquitous. As with the opening scene with DT, it is astounding how hesitant folks are on these shows to assign the blame on demons for even the most despicable activity. For varying reasons, the almost monolithic consensus of investigators is that demonic encounters are rare. So, in that regard the TV shows are mirroring current beliefs in this field. One quick example. The much respected John Zaffis is called in to assuage the fears of a young mom. There has been verbal threats and physical violence, to the point she is terrified. During an EVP session (red flag!) John asks the spirit if it is angry with the family, and child’s voice answered, "no". Based almost entirely on this captured EVP, John interprets all of this scratching, pushing, and threats as an expression of trust that this child ghost feels with the young mom. A touching scene follows, and I am feeling nauseous. That is baloney sir. Do you always trust children’s voices? What would you think of a living child who scratched and pushed people and threatened them? I would have had my rear-end whipped good as a child if I did half of what that demon did to those people. That is calling wrong…. right-something the bible condemns. On another episode his tech, Brian, got a long triple scratch down his back, and demons were not mentioned at all—not amongst themselves (that we know of) or with the client. Does anybody else find that problematic? Two per show… that makes eight hair raising episodes in a month, in which a world famous, professing Christian demonologist does not even mention demons.

While watching Paranormal Witness tonight I thought that, finally, they will call a spade a spade. Two or three deputies are witness to some hair raising activity in an old theatre. After what he called demon like activity, one of them quit. It seemed that, given all the focus on the sheer evil of this entity, that a demon was going to be the culprit. Wrong. By the end, it was reported that a young man had died in a fire there and all the activity was then viewed through that prism. So, in all those shows I watched, I do not recall a demon being seen as the cause of the supernatural activity. Moreover, most of the time, demons were not even mentioned. We are talking several dozen episodes. THAT frequency and repetition is clearly influencing people’s views regarding both ghosts and the demonic.  It makes me weep.

I find this very troubling because it is only reinforcing in the audience’s minds that ghosts are the only plausible explanation for supernatural activity. It is shaping their view of supernatural reality…millions of people. “Yes demons are real, but rare”. Sound familiar?  It should, because demonic rarity is the majority view of investigators. Sure it happens but even the most “negative” (grown to really dislike that word) entities are almost always viewed as irregular humans or possibly some whacked out dimensional being (eg energy vampires—demons can mimic that). If it smells like sulfur, levitation is occurring, tables are flying across the room, apportation, extreme aversion to blessed objects, client speaking backwards in Latin, and people are being hurt, THEN folks will discuss the possibility of demonic presence. Sheeesh….(ok, a bit exaggerated) Once you introduce the concept of ghosts (including poltergeist and residual), then identifying demons is hopelessly subjective.

Stop! Everyone believes that demons are deceptive, so why the almost fervent hesitancy to label something demonic unless all the aforementioned is present? Even veteran, biblical demonologists fall prey to this faulty logic when they assume they will always feel heaviness in the air if there is a demonic infestation. If you have a strong gift of discernment (there are gradations of sensitivity), then that is a horse of a different color. But generally, demons can leave a palpable sense of peace and love. That is certainly an implicate of the angel of light principle, and there is a plethora of anecdotal evidence to support this. They can control the vibe of a house. How convincing is an angel-cloaked demon going to be if everyone has the heeby-jeebies around them or feel nauseous and so on? Back to the fervent hesitancy.

Satan is not omnipotent, but he is showing considerable power in how he has promoted this demonaphobia. The issue is not what you personally believe—the issue is, what is the message coming across the TV? This was an experiment to observe. The bottom line is that if the angel of light principle is real—and it is—then there is no way to make a list of criteria for demonic presence; they can and do break all the rules and all the stereotypes. And to rule out from the get-go the possibility of demonic activity is not science, it is ideological assumptions. (REPEAT) It is the opposite of true science…destination untruth.

Demonaphobia….that is what is plastered all over TV these days. This is a call to all bible believing Christians to be salt and light for the glory of God.

Ghosts are Residual Energies—Not People

By Lisa Grace

What people refer to as “ghosts” I call residual energy or if interactive, a type of demon. While the appearance may resemble a person who lived, the residual energy has more in common with a photograph or a video. Just as a photo is not the person, neither is the “ghost”/residual energy.

These residual energies, for a while, can attract other supernatural creatures, which I refer to as demons. Their whole purpose is to mislead you from the truth and down a path of destruction.

Ask yourself, why aren’t there any hauntings from societies we no longer remember? Why aren’t there tons of Roman soldiers or ancient Hitites? Why aren’t Italy or Greece the most haunted places per square foot?

Because these residual energies do not last forever.
Just like photos, they fade and disintegrate. The evil demons that nurture or mimic them, move on to stronger residual energies.

Demons roam the earth looking for those they can destroy/mislead.

While listening to EVP’s is fascinating, it will never reveal more about the paranormal. Why?
Because these demons have zero interest in revealing the truth. The truth is already readily available in the Holy Scriptures.

If more people relied on the truth, once they realized a demon was present, they would bind them and drive them away.

Many paranormal investigators have had demons follow them home. They then realize maybe they are playing with fire. Entities are not harmless and are not toys.

What are residual energies?
We know thoughts are measurable energy. We were told thousands of years ago in the Scripture that our words are powerful. Every word starts out as a thought first. Therefore thoughts are powerful, too.

Thoughts can be measured by MRI’s and other types of brain scans. If we can measure the energy we can record it. That means there is a permanent record of that thought.

Scientist have actually created a machine that can look at a person’s electro magnetic energy released while concentrating on a memory, and they can recreate a crude picture/movie of the thought. http://techland.time.com/2011/09/23/scientists-can-almost-read-your-mind-turn-thoughts-into-movies/

If scientists can now prove what the Holy Scriptures have said (before it was provable), then we can see how strong emotions or repetitious actions can “burn” or record in time and place, a record of an event. This is all these residual energies are.

I watched an episode of The Neighbors last night. The alien dad was talking into an etch a sketch, expecting to get an answer, like you can with certain phone aps. This is what it is like when investigators try to talk to a “haunting.” Now because demons are attracted to these energies, if you get an answer, you have a demon. In that case, you need to get it removed. We’ll talk more about that in my next column.

The Dalai Lama Celebrates 50th Anniversary of Helping Tibetan Children

The Tibetan Homes Foundation, a member association of SOS Children International, recently celebrated 50 years of providing Tibetan children with a loving home. The celebrations took place in Mussoorie, Northern India with guests including the Dalai Lama and the President of SOS Children International, Helmut Kutin.

SOS Children’s Villages for Tibetan children was established in 1960 by the Dalai Lama, to care for Tibetan refugee children who had fled across the Tibetan border following the Chinese invasion of Tibet in 1959.

In 1971, what was initially a make-shift children's home was turned into the first Tibetan SOS Children's Village in Dharamsala. Today, there are eight SOS Children’s Villages caring for 11,000 Tibetan children. Tibetan SOS families generally have more children per family than usual due to the high demand for alternative care. In the 29 SOS families in Mussoorie-Happy Valley in northern India alone, some 1,700 children are growing up. SOS mothers receive support from several ‘family assistants’ who help them to care for the children. SOS Children also run seven schools which are open to all Tibetan children, including those whose parents have survived with them. The Villages and schools teach the children traditional Tibetan values and culture.

As the Chairman of the Tibetan Children's Villages, The Dalai Lama was the chief guest at the golden jubilee celebrations. He was joined by many other dignitaries – including the Honorary President of SOS Children's Villages International, Helmut Kutin - and hundreds of children, young people and staff from the neighbourhood and from abroad.

Children from various different Tibetan Children’s Villages and SOS Schools put on a performance for the assembly. Despite heavy rainfall, they marched to the beat of drums, and performed traditional songs and dances.

Their performance was followed by official speeches. The President of SOS Children International Helmut Kutin said: "You all have found a home here. The home country is in my mind and in my heart and this is stronger than any location. You are fantastic children, you are beautiful children. Take care of each other."

In his address, the Dalai Lama thanked everyone who contributed to the work of the organisation in the past five decades: "Today, when we are celebrating the 50th anniversary, everything has gone very well and I'd like to thank all of you. The Homes Foundation has asked us all not to lose hope but to keep our homeland in mind, which is a very good advice."

After lunch, the Dalai Lama and other guests viewed a photo exhibition about the 50 years of the Tibetan Homes Foundation. He also met with sponsors and friends from abroad whom he thanked on behalf of the Tibetan people for their support for SOS Children’s projects.

Idoltry, Demons & the Keys of the Kingdom of Heaven

By V.K. Bronz

It is only Jesus that has all authority and it is Jesus in us that causes us to walk in authority.   He that is Holy, He that is true If we lack a close walk with our lord we can end up as the seven sons of Seva who tried to cast the demons out of a man and the demons said Jesus I know Peter I know but who are you? And the demons jumped on the sons and beat them.

Even the disciples when faced with powerful demons could not cast them out. Why? Jesus said it was that particular kind of demons could only come out with prayer and fasting.

“And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
(Mt. 16:19)  Authority of Christ given to the church

King Asa went about tearing down the idols of the land and turning the hearts of the people back to god after the previous king had turned them to idolatry. When Asa did this the people prospered and there was no war, they had peace in the land.

“And he built fenced cities in Judah: for the land had rest and he had no war in those years; because the Lord had given him rest. Therefore he said unto Judah, Let us build these cities, and make about them walls, and towers and gates, and bars, while the land is yet before us; because we have sought the Lord our God, we sought him and he hath given us rest on every side. So they built and prospered. (II Chr. 14:6-7)

When we come to that place of rest in our Lord's trustworthiness and surrender our own will: That is when we can build and prosper; you’ll notice that while they were at rest they built towers, walls, gates and bars and an army for their protection, not because they didn’t trust the protection of the Lord but that they would be prepared for their enemies.

Not only is this true in the natural but spiritually. Historically we have walked away from God when we are at rest and prospering, so we must continue to be prepared and diligent to seek the lord our God watching always that the enemy would not come in and steal what God has given.

While Asa and Jerusalem were at rest the Lord allowed an invading Army, that had hundreds of thousands of troops, to come: “and Asa cried unto the Lord his God, and said, Lord it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many or with them that have no power: help us, O Lord our God; for we rest on thee, and in thy name we go against this multitude. O Lord thou art our God; let not man prevail against thee”. (II Chr. 14:11)

Isn’t that just incredible? Asa’s heart was perfect toward God. He had not let himself or his people become occupied with prospering or ministering etc., they loved the Lord and were ready when god came to test their loyalty.

It was God that allowed the Army to come (not Satan) that the people might be blessed even further; as they fought the invading army they took exceeding great spoil! Asa really believed God, that he would keep them who had no power against this enemy.

God’s eyes truly do go to and fro throughout the earth looking to bless those whose heart is perfect toward Him! Bless the Lord oh my soul and all that is within me bless his holy name.

Oh people if we would only learn, there is no other way to gain the blessing and authority of God except we follow Jesus who holds all blessing and all righteousness and all life within Him. When the enemy comes it is because God has allowed it to test our faith in his faithfulness. He will use it to bless us even further.

There is no offering we can make or promise, when we give our life to the lord that is when we have already made a vow to him to totally relinquish control to the Holy Spirit and be obedient to His promptings.
If we will set our hearts upon god and set our hearts to cleanse the land (our life) of all its filth and idolatry God will come and perform his word.

It would be as Daniel when the messenger of God came to speak to him. “And he said unto me, O Daniel, a man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak unto thee, and stand upright: for unto thee am I now sent. And when he had spoken this word unto me, I stood trembling. Than said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didest set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words. (Dan. 10:11-12)

If we set our heart to love the Lord our God with all of our heart and all of our soul and all of our might we will automatically begin to perform that which is right in the sight of God, in our relationship with God our relationship with our spouse and children and with our church and with our government

The Lord sent word through John to the church of Ephesus that he was contemplating taking the spirit of light from them. Ephesus was a wonderful church from all outward appearances; you know they were in the word, because they had discerning ability. They could discern between the real and the false prophet, the Lord himself says they had the light and he was thinking of taking it.

Ephesus also had it going in missionary works with patience and longsuffering and they kept themselves separate from the evil that they would be unspotted from the world. They were abiding within the holiness life style. This is so much more then the church today.  So why was Jesus upset with them, so much so that he was threatening to take their light from them? It is not enough that we have light; it is not enough that we preach the gospel and it is not enough that we keep ourselves unspotted from the world. Jesus wants our love at all times. All of the above must be done out of our love for Jesus or there is no life in it and it becomes just works.

We start out in love with the Lord, so much so that we follow all his precepts and involve our lives with just him and his works, but then something horrible happens, we become the Pharisees, we begin to do all the works that are required but we have been so occupied with the church life or work or family life we are no longer in love with our lord.

“Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks; I know thy works, and thy labor, and thy patience, and how thou canest not bare them which are evil; and thou has tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars: and hast borne and hast patience, and for my name sake hast labored, and hast not fainted.

Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly and will remove his candlestick out of his place, except thou repent”. (Rev. 2:1-5)

The Lord says do the first works; by saying this we can see what has happened, their walk with God has become works, things they do for God. Jesus is telling them go back to the beginning and love me, forget about the works and just love me.
