The Paranormal Christian – Spirit Talk

When one does a search of paranormal research and investigations, watch the several different ghost hunting shows on cable television, or searches for books of these same topics, the subject or ability of mediums inevitably surfaces.  Without a doubt, people claiming the ability to sense the presence and communicate with the dead grows each passing day.  There are para-celebrity mediums like John Edwards, Sylvia Browne, and James vanPraagh, lesser known mediums that are making a name for themselves on shows like Paranormal State, The Dead Files, etc, and then your unknown mediums, the people who claim this ability that attach themselves to Paranormal Investigative Teams.

Within this group of mediums, you have the fakes (cold and warm readers with no real ability) and those with an actual gift.  The fakes, their problems lie in the deceptions that they are conducting for which they will have to atone when they pass.  They will be surprised by whom they will be atoning to.  The reason I mention the particular three celebrities above is because they are FAKES.  They have all been tested and observed, and it has become apparent they are using these “Mentalist”-style techniques to gather information and feed it back to get a “reading”.  You can do a search on Google to find the various debunking sites that lay out the facts and truth behind these para-celebrity readings.  From “studio plants”, bugging a holding room for audiences, doing research and pumping production people for information before readings, to mind-play tricks, all of them have been found to be fakes, yet millions seeking answers from beyond continually suspend their beliefs and logical thinking to accept these frauds and their fake abilities as the real deal.

Now, there are mediums out there that are connecting with the spiritual world, but unfortunately, it is not our dead relatives or the previous residents of a house that have passed into the spiritual realm.  In my first blog and on my first radio show for “The Paranormal Christian”, I presented scriptures that proved that when we die, we receive our judgment from God immediately, and move on to the reward (Heaven), or punishment (Hell).  In last week’s blog presented by Reverend Mark Hunneman, my co-host on the radio show and author of “Seeing Ghosts Through God’s Eyes” (www.seeingghoststhroughgodseyes.com), explained quite well how the concept of Purgatory, held by the Catholic Church and getting integrated by many people’s beliefs to explain why human ghosts would be here on earth for us to get evidence of, is not supported by the Scriptures.  On the show that followed this past Saturday, I presented listeners with even more information, from the Catholic Church’s own history, which they have not always held the belief of Purgatory and that it was not presented until 593 AD by Gregory the Great.  In fact, there was no Pope until after Gregory the Great.  Here’s a link to give you a full run down on the changes to doctrine and dogma through the past two millennia by the Church that “never changes”.  There is corresponding scripture as to why it goes against God’s Word. http://bit.ly/uymGpg .

The Bible is quite clear about contacting the dead (Using New American Standard Bible). 

Deuternonomy 18:10-12 - There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices witchcraft, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, or one who casts a spell, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. For whoever does these things is detestable to the LORD; and because of these detestable things the LORD your God will drive them out before you.

Isaiah 8:19-20 - When they say to you, “Consult the mediums and the spiritists who whisper and mutter,” should not a people consult their God? Should they consult the dead on behalf of the living? To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because they have no dawn.

Those are just a couple of scriptures related to this topic specifically.  So there is a great danger for those who practice and serve as mediums.  That danger is very apparent when you add in the fact that there are no human ghosts here on earth for them to communicate with.  So what are they connecting with? 

Ephesians 6:10-12 - Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Satan is the ruler of the dark spiritual forces of this earth, of the rulers, the powers.  This encompasses the demonic, the fallen angels that rose up against God with Lucifer (Satan) that are now demons that prowl all around us, seeking to destroy us.

1 Peter 5:8-9 - Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. But resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brethren who are in the world.

So when mediums – truly “gifted” mediums – connect with a spirit, they are connecting with the demonic, whether they are doing it knowingly or not.  Demons are fallen angels, so they can appear as “beings of light”, and they have witnessed the life of every human being that has and is living on this planet.  They can present themselves as these people, with all the knowledge of their lives, and even their “secrets”.  This also applies to spirit guides, guardian angels, etc.  True angels, they work unseen in our lives, at the command of God and His Son, Jesus Christ.  They do not communicate directly with us, for that goes against scripture.  Demons do it because they are in rebellion, and seek to separate us from God and God’s Word.

There is only one spirit we will, as Christians, ever have direct communication from, and that is the Holy Spirit, which is of God.  When we are born again in Christ and our sins washed clean by His precious Blood, we now have a direct line spiritually through Christ and the Holy Spirit.  The Holy Spirit gives us those gut feelings when we come witness something not of God’s Word, or we come across doctrines and activities that are not of God.  There are gifts of the Holy Spirit found in 1 Corinthians 12 – you can look up that one ;)

When dealing with the spiritual realm, be sure to test the spirits.  If it doesn’t glorify God and His Word, or align with it, then you can be assured, you are dealing with the demonic. Mr. Frisbee,

While I respect your God-given right to express your opinions, I think that it bears mentioning that you do not have ANY proof whatsoever that EVERY single spirit that a person communicates with is in fact a demon or fallen angel. You are making a very big assumption when you make such claims with zero proof to back up your claims. Whether you realize it or not, you paint many of your views with a rather wide brush.

Also, I think that it bears mentioning that the Bible has been written/re-written an exhorbitant amount of times by many, many different individuals to fit the changing times. Many of the verses no longer apply to today's society. For example:

Deuteronomy 21:18-21

21:18 If a man have a stubborn and rebellious son, which will not obey the voice of his father, or the voice of his mother, and that, when they have chastened him, will not hearken unto them:

21:19 Then shall his father and his mother lay hold on him, and bring him out unto the elders of his city, and unto the gate of his place;

21:20 And they shall say unto the elders of his city, This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton, and a drunkard (So if you have your own mind and refuse to do what someone else wants you to do, you are rebellious, a glutton, and a drunkard?).

21:21 And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, that he die: so shalt thou put evil away from among you; and all Israel shall hear, and fear (So when was the last time you attended a stoning?).


Leviticus 25:45 Of the children of the strangers that do sojourn among you, of them shall ye buy, and of their families ... and they shall be your possession (So it is totally permissible to make children and their family members my slaves?).

Proverbs 10:3 The LORD will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish: but he casteth away the substance of the wicked (Which means that God never allows good people to go hungry or the wicked to become wealthy. Really???? Since when????).

Matthew 5:28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart(Sorry, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with looking at a beautiful woman or wanting to date a beautiful woman!).

Obviously, there are TONS of ridiculously outdated passages from the Bible as well as the numerous editions that have been circulating for hundreds of years now. You simply cannot keep citing passeges and act as if they are the absolute law of the land, because they are not! Frankly, It is NOT your place (or anyone else's for that matter) to judge, criticize, scold others or otherwise impose YOUR views, personal opinions and beliefs onto others. Judge not, lest ye be judged, remember? Who among us has not sinned according to all of the different passeges throughout the entire Bible?

Surely you are in no way perfect for there was only one person on this entire Earth who was 100% perfect and that was Jesus Christ. If you want to "warn" people that they "might" be speaking to demons when they communicate with spirits, that is one thing. But you have no proof that every spirit is a demon. And to say so is completely ludicrous and more than likely, totally false. It is your mere OPINION that each and every spirit is a demon. Just because it is your opinion does not make it a fact.

Whether you want to accept this fact or not, the Bible is outdated, it is archaic, it is ancient and it has been re-written far too many times by MEN who sought to control society and keep people in line with a bunch of Hell fire & brimstone warnings not kill one another, not to cheat on their spouses, not to steal from one another, etc. I think that the same thing applies to all of the macabre Bible verses that you cited in your article. It was meant to control people and keep them in line via warnings and threats of angering God, etc.

We each have are own path.I feel the bible is like a boy scout book it will show you the basics but we all have to learn to tie the knotts for ourselves. When you use god as a weapon you are being a judge. I can tell you this as a christian spiritulist I feel close to God.read your bible in the spirit not in the words.What was going on then is going on now. You can call them profit,medium apostle or whatever they were and they still are the seers. If they use their gift to heal the hearts of man then God Bless them.

You have a right to ignore God's Word and to deny the Truth of it, even try to twist it.

However, being that you are taking it from a non Christian view, I'm not surprised by your venom. Not too mention your misconceptions of the Bible.

The Bible is the perfect presentation of God's Word. When Christ came to this Earth, taught His message from our Heavenly Father, and then was crucified and resurrected, a glorified and living Christ, the old law was replaced with a new law.

Romans 7:4-6

Therefore, my brethren, you also were made to die to the Law through the body of Christ, so that you might be joined to another, to Him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God. For while we were in the flesh, the sinful passions, which were aroused by the Law, were at work in the members of our body to bear fruit for death. But now we have been released from the Law, having died to that by which we were bound, so that we serve in newness of the Spirit and not in oldness of the letter.

The Bible is God's Word to us, inspired and made manifest by the anointing of the Holy Spirit upon the men of God whom wrote His Word.

I have laid out several arguments through past posts regarding the scripture and the fact human ghosts do not exist on this planet, and that what people connect with are in fact demons.

It is entirely absurd to attack people for having beliefs that differ from others, but that sure doesn't stop some people from doing it, now does it? There is no solid proof either way so it is therefore a rather moot point.

While at the same time adopting a stance that maintains ghosts actually exist (with no proof) this is where your argument becomes a logical fallacy.

I did not make any venomous remarks towards you whatsoever. I merely stated the truth, and you must be someone who simply cannot handle hearing the truth so you become all defensive and then go on the offensive. there is no need for you to get all defensive! Because like it or not, the simple fact of the matter is that the Bible IS outdated, it IS archaic and there are many, many things contained within the Bible that simply do NOT apply to modern society. That's not "venom", thats truth--deal with it.

For the record, I am not denying God's word or twisting it or doing anything else with it other than presenting verses straight from the Bible (just like you did), that show just how outdated and archaic the Bible is. I find it amusing that you are supposed to be a Christian yet your reaction to someone confronting you with facts is to act so un-Christ like. It makes me question if you truly are a Christian or simply a poser who hides behind Christianity so that you can judge and condemn others.

I also find it amusing that you assume that I have no relationship with God based upon the fact that I do not agree with what is contained within your article. Make whatever assumptions you like, but my sul is not in the least bit of danger. My relationship with God is rock solid and at the end of the day, my business, not yours.

Also, I think that it bears mentioning that if you are going to write articles, you are going to have people express their opinions as well as critique your work. If you cannot handle people expressing their opinions and critiquing your work without you attacking them or judging them or making assumptions about them, then perhaps you should not write any further articles to spare yourself the aggravation! You seem overly sensitive, and honestly, there is really no need for it when your goal is supposed to be spreading the word of God.

While the irony of Norm spelling prophet; "profit" undoubtedly eludes you, the subject of fraudulent mediumship motivated by monetary gain is often a hot topic and most will assuredly agree that it is in fact "ironic".

You seem to be trying to interpret all bible verses as literal where they are obviously intended to be parabolic and proverbial.

I noticed that you have drawn almost exclusively from Old Testament scripture(typical)save for the verse from Matthew:

Another thing you may want to modify is the supposition that your "truth" is an absolute reality when within the context of this discussion there is no established "truth" to present as a reference and a control. Matters of Personal belief are subject to interpretation and this topic was presented as he perceives his personal truth. Remember you are replying to a blog written by Mr Frisbee, not vice versa.

Wow - you went right off into a whole other realm of thought there.

The venom I spoke of, was regarding your application of the Word of God, not specifically towards me.

You claim to believe in God, must not be my God because you obvious have no faith or belief that His Word is Truth or applicable to today.

Hebrews 13:7-8

Remember those who led you, who spoke the word of God to you; and considering the result of their conduct, imitate their faith. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

Jesus brought us the new Law to replace the old Law - so your venomous seeking of conflict within the Old Testament.

The Word of God is Truth - I accepted that fully when I accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior. For you to deny the Word of God as applicable today in relation to Christ's ministry and message of Salvation, simply points for me that you are not a believer.

And that is fine - God gave us free will, to choose for ourselves whether we are going to be of Him, or of the world. You made your choice. I'll pray that the Holy Spirit will help soften your heart and allow you to one day experience the Truth and Grace that is Jesus Christ and His Heavenly Father.

I have no issue with people commenting - but when I see the Word of God being misused in the way you have, I will respond. I don't feel I did so in anything but a forthright manner.

You may not like hearing the Truth as I know it through the grace of Jesus Christ, but I speak solely from Biblical Scripture, that thing you said is outdated and a myth.

By the way - as for proof regarding the demonic/fallen angels, and that people are interacting with them, it's right in the Bible. Oh yeah - it's that thing you say doesn't apply anymore.

Go ahead and make your critiques - I welcome them. But be prepared for a rebuttal, for I will when I feel something needs to be rebutted, and as the author of this particular blog segment - that is my right. If you can't handle that - then don't bother reading my material.

I dont believe in any of the crap that is posted on this blog. I will continue to believe in god, but not one persons interpretation of god on this website as you all are hypocrites. You speak peace one moment and unity and love and then chastise others with your opinions.

God doesn't need a church and sure as heck doesn't need a blog of so called spiritualists and psychics bashing other psychics and spiritualists. In over 2000 years you think we would have learned by now Christ's teachings. Pretending doesn't cut it, actions and words show your colors.

'Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these."

Based on his teachings, you are all failing at that. Preaching and casting stones all at the same time.

Good job!

I'll stick with god and what he has to say, not people like you who spend most of your time arguing and then pretending to do the opposite.

@Jonas - a spiritualist I am not in the slightest. I am a born again Christian, the Truth I post is based on Scriptures from God's Word, the Bible.

The whole point of my articles is to shed God's Truth on the deceptions of the New Age and Occult.

This pastor is on a judgemetal crusade agenst the occult, new age, or any other spiritual way. He is a mean spirited evil man who is useing the bible to condem and invalidate all people. This man has a problem and has no life. What life he has must be very boreing and restricted.
