Beyond the Edge Goes Over the Edge

By Kirby Robinson

A man goes into a shop to get a psychic reading.

When they sit down to start the reading the man pokes the psychic in the eye.

"Why did you do that?" Cried the psychic.

"Well, if you were psychic you'd have seen it coming!"

I saw this coming, a long way off but I saw it …

I was supposed to be a guest on Beyond the Edge Radio featured on the Paranormal Planet this Sunday from 8 to 10 PM. This radio show is hosted by Eric Altman and Lon Strickler. It seems they are more interested in keeping the fake para-celebs, con artists and paranormal predators happy than in delving into the truth.
Nor are they interested in taking part in a discussion/debate. Like all the other fakers they just want to stamp out any voices that disagree with their views and the views held by the para-fakers.

So let us start from the beginning. When we first published "Paranormal Reality: Investigating Paranormal State" in February 2011, we sent out press releases to many radio shows. We sent one to Beyond the Edge radio which read:

A&E's Paranormal State claimed it was a paranormal reality TV show that dared to go beyond what Ghost Hunters and other paranormal TV shows explored!

"Paranormal Reality: Investigating Paranormal State" by Kirby Robinson and Lisa Maliga is the first book to take a candid and critical look behind the scenes of the A&E program, Paranormal State. This show featured members of the Penn State Paranormal Research Society led by Ryan Buell and a cast of para-celebrities such as Michelle Belanger, Chip Coffey, CJ Sellers, Lorraine Warren, and Chad Calek.

This book uncovers secrets about what went on behind the scenes, and it answers questions about the show's validity. In almost every single episode the reader may find one or more of the following: staged scenes, planted or falsified evidence, fake exorcisms, and crew members masquerading as experts. We learn of clients who were ridiculed, and those who were promised help but were left with more problems.

The authors scrutinize Ryan Buell's book, "Paranormal State: My Journey into the Unknown" co-written with Stefan Petrucha. They uncover discrepancies when it comes to what really went on during the filming relying on hours of extensive video analysis and candid interviews with confidential informants who were on the set during filming. Current and former members of PRS, para-celebrities, paranormal investigators, and clients featured on the show have also been interviewed.

"Paranormal Reality: Investigating Paranormal State" will reveal a side of the show that viewers weren't ever intended to see.

Steve Hembree of Claranormal [Claremont Paranormal] reviewed this ebook on Amazon. He writes, "The authors do a masterful job of breaking the television show Paranormal State down show by show, segment by segment, scene by scene, revealing that which almost everybody misses consciously. Amazing."

Kirby Robinson has been involved in the paranormal field for over 25 years. Much of his time is spent helping people deal with demonic hauntings. Kirby has performed numerous house blessings and exorcisms.

Lisa Maliga has published four novels and a short story collection. She has written a wide variety of articles ranging from Buddhism to celebrities to pet care and web design. Specializing in aromatherapy and soap making, she is writing a book about handcrafted bath & body products.
This innovative e-book is available on Kindle, Smashwords and Nook.

By reading this press release you should get a clear idea of what the book is about. If you invite someone onto your show [and if you caught my interviews done on many shows like Paradacity, Dave Schrader's Darkness on the Edge of Town, Grand Dark Conspiracy, etc. you'd know that I'm very cordial and non-combative on the matter]. So we can assume that Eric neither reads with comprehension nor listens to anyone other than para-fakers and his own ego.

Last month we received this email from Eric:

Hello Kirby,
Going through our files of guests for the program, I was re-reading your email and would be interested in having you on our show to talk about your book and your experiences with Paranormal State.  We have open dates in January and the end of February if you are interested.  I do apologize for not getting back to you sooner, our guest list has been quite extensive and going through emails I realized I did not respond to you in a more appropriate fasion.  My co-host Lon Strickler and I would enjoy having you on and if you are still interested and willing, our open dates are January 22 and 29th and February 26.  Please let me know if any of these dates would work for you.  The interview would run from 8:30 pm to 10:00 pm eastern time.  Thank you again for writing and I look forward to hearing back from you.
Regards,
Eric Altman Beyond The Edge Radio

He claims to have read the press release, he knew our position and who we talked about in the book, yet he invited me anyway. So, I accepted. The truth needs to get out there and we have a new book coming out on January 30, "Paranormal State Exposed." This book deals with more deceptions and the issue of a possible pedophile being featured in season 5.

But that little voice kept telling me there would be no show.

KNOCK! KNOCK!

WHO'S THERE?

Well, if you're a psychic you'd know!

Last Thursday and Friday, I sent out invites on Face Book to the show. I took some time to listen to a past show to get to know the hosts and get a feel for the show. Eric stated that I was going to be on and talk about what went behind the scenes, secrets we uncovered, etc. We'd be talking about the para-celebs featured on the show. Below is a list of people that I would have talked about: the fakers and real deals:

Ryan Buell - Fake
PRS Team - Fake
Chip Coffey – Fake
Chad Calek – Fake
Christopher Moon - Fake
Lorraine Warren – Fake
Tony Spera – Fake
Michelle Belanger – Fake
The Constantinos – Fake
CJ Sellers – Fake
Father Jim - Fake
Ken Arrington - Fake

John Tenney – Real Deal
Adam Blai – Real Deal
Keith Johnson - Real Deal
Sandra Johnson - Real Deal
Shannon Sylvia – Real Deal
Father Bob Bailey – Real Deal
Father Andrew Calder – Real Deal

Over the past few days we'd received the usual threats and warnings about watching our step etc., concerning Beyond the Edge.

On Wednesday, Eric sent me a request for a photo, bio etc., which I happily sent. But that little voice said no show Sunday -- you can work your current case that night.

On Friday night we got this email from Eric:

Hello Kirby,
Due to circumstances that were brought to my attention today and the high number of emails I have receieved today, I have decided to cancel the interview that was scheduled with you on Sunday night.    This is in regards to postings that were made on various blogs and websites attacking numerous individuals in the paranormal community.  My show is not about that, and I do not want any involvement or associations with such forums.  I know many of the people that have been attacked by the forums, blogs and websites and do not want our show associated in any type of attacks on any one in the paranormal field.  So out of respect for friends who contacted me privately, I am cancelling our interview for Sunday night.  Regards,
Eric Altman

If Eric had the guts to say what he should have said it, would read like this:

Duh! I learned you’re the one behind the EYE ON THE PARANORMAL. You posted on Ron Tebo's SCIFAKE about all the fake para-celebs who are my pals and all the scams they do. I got emails from them telling me if you are on the show they won't be my pals or do my show. I will be blackedballed. I like hanging with all these fakers and their zombie fans will not listen to my show anymore. You can't do my show. Since you only post on the eye and scifake you guys talk about the truth about these people and we can't have that. My show is not about the truth. It's about keeping people in the dark and helping my pals scam the public. To tell the truth I'm not sure what the truth is…But, hey if you ever sell out then you can be on my show.

Question: Why is the paranormal media worse than the mainstream media?
Answer: Mainstream media only has a bias against conservatives, while the paranormal media has a bias against the truth.

One would wonder if you're such good pals with so many fake para-celebs that are still connected to Paranormal State and PRS, why not have them on with me? We can get to the truth. Oh, I forgot, you couldn't understand the truth. Because it's not to your advantage.

So, Mr. Eric Altman, you can keep doing the same old tired show where the truth will never be spoken. The real paranormal media keeps digging for the truth… like why did Paranormal State allow a possible pedophile into clients' homes? Why did they allow him to hit on clients, members of the crew and the public? Why haven't they turned this matter over to the police?

Much more to come …

Mysterious Marfa Lights - Ghost Lights - Paranormal - UFO - Swamp Gas?

Mysterious Marfa Lights - Ghost Lights - Paranormal - UFO - Swamp Gas?

by Martha Hazzard-Decker

English: Map of Marfa. Converted to PNG by Fib...

Mysterious Marfa Lights - Ghost Lights - Paranormal - UFO - Swamp Gas? Will anyone ever learn what causes the Marfa Lights? They have been observed just outside Marfa, Texas for well over a 100 years near the mountains. Some say the lights are caused by swamp gas, some claim vehicle headlights while others claim extra terrestrials or ghost of Native Americans wandering about at night with lanterns. The lights were seen before electricity and vehicles so it would stand to reason that the lights aren't caused by those two suggestions. In fact the lights have been seen by so many people and so often that the State of Texas build a viewing platform with restroom facilities for viewers. For years there has been a spot on  SH 67 where people pull over and wait for the lights to appear in the distance. It was a small area off the highway with a trash can.

The history of the Marfa lights on Wikipedia states, "The first published account of the lights appeared in the July 1957 issue of Coronet Magazine, the sole source for anecdotal claims that the lights date back to the 19th century. Reports often describe brightly glowing basketball-sized spheres floating above the ground, or sometimes high in the air. Colors are usually described as white, yellow, orange or red, but green and blue are sometimes reported. The balls are said to hover at about shoulder height, or to move laterally at low speeds, or sometimes, to shoot around rapidly in any direction. They often appear in pairs or groups, according to reports, to divide into pairs or to merge, to disappear and reappear, and sometimes to move in seemingly regular patterns. Their sizes are typically said to resemble soccer balls or basketballs. Sightings are reported occasionally and unpredictably, perhaps 10 to 20 times a year. There are no reliable reports of daytime sightings. According to the people who claim to have seen the lights, they may appear at any time of night, typically south of U.S. Route 90 and east of U.S. Route 67, five to fifteen miles southeast of Marfa, at unpredictable directions and apparent distances. They can persist from a fraction of a second to several hours. There is evidently no connection between appearances of the Marfa lights and anything else besides nighttime hours. They appear in all seasons of the year and in any weather, seemingly uninfluenced by such factors. They sometimes have been observed during late dusk and early dawn, when the landscape is dimly illuminated. They are said to be viewable year round. It is extremely difficult to approach an ongoing display of the Marfa lights, mainly due to the dangerous terrain of Mitchell Flat. Also, all of the land where the Marfa lights are observed is private property, and access is prohibited without explicit permission from the owners. he state notes the lights in travel maps, the city has erected a viewing platform, and the Marfa Chamber of Commerce promotes the peculiar lights. The weekend-long Marfa Lights Festival is held annually in the city's downtown."

There is an interesting video on the Marfa Lights  by Pecos45 that was done several years ago. It has interviews with residents from Marfa and shows the lights. The lights have had many skeptics and even the US government make attempts at either disproving them or learning what causes them to appear. The lights can be seen nearly every night. This author has seen the lights a couple dozen times over many years. Only to be disappointed twice by a no show of the lights. Years past the lights were easily seen and traffic was slow to non existent on the highway at night. This has changed quite a bit through the passing years. There were times when this author and a friend were the only people sitting off the side of the highway in the very dark night. That can become rather nerve wracking as minds wander while waiting to see lights. A few times there were unsavory characters that were more threatening than the lights. The new viewing station gives the area a feeling of safety and a place to sit and relax. There are lights on the building, but they are red to help one maintain their night vision.

It's difficult to explain the feeling when observing the lights other than a great sense of wonderment. This comes from having no idea what creates the lights. Listening to other watchers inhale as lights are seen that appear to be headed straight toward them and then the exhale as they stop before coming too close. The light appear as one, many or as individual lights that split into more lights. The bounce, wiggle, move up and down. They go back and come forward and at times appear to pulsate and emanate different colors. This author spoke to a local resident who has come to view the lights throughout most of his life. He can't figure them out. He told of an experiment he and several friends tried after receiving permission to go onto the private property that lies between the viewing station and the mountains. He said that a group of his friends stayed by the platform while another group headed onto the property in a vehicle. Both sets were armed with walkie talkies to communicate. While the group near the platform observed lights the other group tried to drive toward the lights, That group would lose sight of the lights almost immediately and were never able to get close to them. Each time they lost sight of the lights the group by the platform would has constant vision of the lights. He said when they were younger they camped on the desert floor and tried to walk toward the lights without success.

A search on the Internet will bring up many links to information about the lights. Some lead to the  UFO version while others lead to the end of the world. Native Americans lived all over this region of Texas hundreds of years ago and there are ghostly tales of warriors and chiefs wandering at night with torches looking for something.

Have there been paranormal investigations done in this area? What would the investigators do? There is an article, Part 2 Where Paranormal Investigstors and Ghost Hunters Tred that may shed light on how what is done. If anyone reading this article knows of any investigations into the Marfa Lights by a paranormal group, the author would like to know.

Could they by ghost lights? These are described as a natural phenomenon producing a ghostly light sometimes seen at night or twilight over bogs, swamps, and marshes. The main problem with those who believe they are ghost lights is that this area is desert and not damp and humid.

The Paranormal Christian – Freemasonry: Christian or Occult?

By Pastor Michael Frisbee, DD/DM

Though Freemasonry is not considered by many as a subject or a part of the paranormal, there are many aspects of Freemasonry that falls into special rituals, oaths, and such that fall into a quasi-religious aspect, and I will outline, have a pagan and non-Christian origin.  As always, I know I will be stepping on a lot of toes here, but considering the dangers for Christian and my mission to shine the light of God’s Truth, I feel that I must tackle this age old subject.

There is a great deal out there regarding Freemasonry.  For those who only have a passing awareness of this organization, here is a description:

Freemasonry is a fraternal organization that arose from obscure origins in the late 16th to early 17th century. Freemasonry now exists in various forms all over the world, with a membership estimated at around six million, including approximately 150,000 under the jurisdictions of the Grand Lodge of Scotland and Grand Lodge of Ireland, over a quarter of a million under the jurisdiction of the United Grand Lodge of England and just under two million in the United States.

The fraternity is administratively organized into independent Grand Lodges or sometimes Orients, each of which governs its own jurisdiction, which consists of subordinate (or constituent) Lodges. The various Grand Lodges recognize each other, or not, based upon adherence to landmarks (a Grand Lodge will usually deem other Grand Lodges who share common landmarks to be regular, and those that do not to be "irregular" or "clandestine").

There are also appendant bodies, which are organizations related to the main branch of Freemasonry, but with their own independent administration.
Source – Wikipedia - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freemasonry

The most basic unit is your local “Masonic Lodge”.  Members join and begin as initiates known as an Entered Apprentice.  The member then works through the various rituals and requirements to attain the 2nd degree, titled Fellow Craft.  Then upon completing the various goals for advancement, becomes a Master Mason.  This comprises what is called the Blue Lodge Masonry.  Once completing the three degrees of the Blue Lodge, a mason is then allowed to go into either the Scottish rite of Freemasonry which has 32 degrees or the York rite which has 13 degrees. These are advanced degrees, where you pay more dues, and expect to learn (and don't) the secrets of Freemasonry. As one progresses through the degree work of these rites, they tell you that you are on a quest to find the lost name of God.

The most disturbing part of Freemasonry is the large number of Christians that have come under sway and membership of this organization.  They are drawn by the alleged networking of fellow businessmen, of the community work being done, etc.  Back in 1993, the Southern Baptist Convention took notice of this, formed an investigative commission, and it created a report that was one of the most in-depth.  There were eight areas of concern the commission identified as being “contrary to Christian belief.”

1) Freemasonry uses offensive, non-biblical, and blasphemous terms relating to God.
2) Freemasonry insists on the use of “bloody oaths” or obligations, which are strictly forbidden by the Bible (Matt.5:34-37).
3) Freemasonry urges that occultic and/or pagan readings be used, and that their teachings be appropriated in interpreting such concepts as the Trinity.
4) Freemasonry includes the Bible as part of the “furniture of the lodge,” but only as an equal with non-Christian symbols and writings.
5) Freemasonry misuses the term “light” to refer to moral “reformation” as a means to salvation.
6) Freemasonry teaches that salvation may be attained by “good works” and not through faith in Christ alone.
7) Freemasonry advocates in many of its writings the non-biblical teachings of universalism.
8) In some of its lodges, Freemasonry discriminates against nonwhites.
Source - Annual of the Southern Baptist Convention, 1993

Under the Scottish Rite, once you achieve the 33rd Degree, you can now join additional advancement organizations, such as the Shriners.  We all recognize them, Red Fezzes, funny little cars at the parades, they have a front of doing great works in the community, much leaning towards charity work for children.

What many ignore is the very symbolism of what they proudly display.  The fez itsef is an affront to Christianity.  So named after the city of Fez, Morocco…which by the way has been the site of numerous documented massacres of both Jews and Christians by various Muslim conquerors. The Fez is a distinctly Muslim symbol and, at least indirectly, celebrates the Muslim conquest of the area.

The emblem found on the fez is that of Muslim origin. It contains the Arabic pagan god symbols of the Crescent Moon and Star, originally the symbol of the Ottomon Empire, now an international symbol of Islam. The symbols are hung under a "scimitar" or an Arabic sword of war. This is the sword that has killed the "infidels" down through the ages under Muslim conquest.

The Shriner meets in a "temple" most of which have distinctly Arabic names. They are often built to resemble a Mosque. He wears his fez with the Muslim symbols on it. He takes his oaths and says his prayers in the name of ALLAH. Many of his secret passwords and code phrases are in Arabic, which he is required to memorize in order to be in the "order".

Candidates for induction into the Shriners are greeted by a High Priest, who says: “By the existence of Allah and the creed of Mohammed; by the legendary sanctity of our Tabernacle at Mecca, we greet you.”  The inductees then swear on the Bible and the Koran, in the name of Mohammed, and invoke Masonry's usual gruesome penalties upon themselves:

“I do hereby, upon this Bible, and on the mysterious legend of the Koran, and its dedication to the Mohammedan faith, promise and swear and vow that I will never reveal any secret part or portion whatsoever of the ceremonies and now upon this sacred book, by the sincerity of a Moslem's oath I here register this irrevocable vow in willful violation whereof may I incur the fearful penalty of having my eyeballs pierced to the center with a three-edged blade, my feet flayed and I be forced to walk the hot sands upon the sterile shores of the Red Sea until the flaming sun shall strike me with livid plague, and may Allah, the god of Arab, Moslem and Mohammedan, the god of our fathers, support me to the entire fulfillment of the same. Amen. Amen. Amen."

Source - Excerpt from The Origins and Influence of Masonry by Lee Penn, SCP Journal Vol. 25:2-25:3 2001

With this oath, Christians swear on the Koran, and declare Allah to be the god of our fathers. From the perspective of Christianity and Islam alike, Shriners take the name of God in vain, and mock both faiths.  I know many Shriners will deny this, but many who have left and re-committed their lives to Christ have shared this truth.

Tomorrow night, Rev. Hunneman and I will cover in more detail what the SBC found, as well as other researchers into Freemasonry.  There is a great deal that is not openly shared, and what many do not know, is that there are degrees above the 33rd.  Join us tomorrow at 7 PM EST – show link can be found at http://www.theparanormalchristian.com

Issue 57 – 'God Leads, I Follow' & the Paranormal State Sex Scandal

By Kirby Robinson

My #1 rule is that GOD is the boss of all things. He leads, I follow. God knows more than I ever will. He has more insight then I can ever hope for. His love and compassion flows more deeply than mine ever will. That being said, for the past several months I've been exposing the fakes, frauds, tricksters and deceivers associated with Psychic Kids: Children of the Paranormal. But it's time to let go of this for now. Beginning next week I'll begin a new series entitled DELIVERANCE FROM DEMONS: NOT THE END -- ONLY THE BEGINNING. I'm being led by God to do this. I'm seeing that way too much attention is being paid to the deliverance/exorcism, and the aftercare is being ignored. Aftercare is what takes place with that family after you close the door. This harsh truth isn't as glorious and dramatic as what we see in the movies and on TV, but aftercare is essential. Because it's not over, the path to healing is just beginning.

RADIO SHOW INTERVIEW

Saturday, January 28th at 7 PM EST
Will be interviewed by Dr. Michael Frisbee at 'The Paranormal Christian' radio show
http://www.blogtalkradio.com/theparanormalchristian

NEW BOOK COMING OUT JANUARY 30, 2012

Paranormal State Exposed will be available in eBook format on Amazon Kindle, B&N Nook and at Smashwords.

'PARANORMAL STATE' SEX SCANDAL!

We've known about this story for quite some time. Our source who fed us the information concerning Season 5 gave us the heads up about it last year. Apparently, this information was being whispered about during filming but we guess when your eyes are on the green you don't see anything else.

We won't go into detail about it here and we only mention it briefly in our forthcoming book, Paranormal State Exposed. We say GOOD JOB to Ryan for breaking ties with Father Jim, Lorraine Warren, Tony Spera and the New England Society for Psychic Research [N.E.S.P.R.].

Does it go far enough? Sadly, it doesn't. On the surface it shows that Ryan Buell and PRS appear to be doing the right thing. But let's delve a little deeper.

1 Unless you visit the PRS forum and see the thread you'd have no idea this took place. You could watch the episodes of season 5 and think everything is cool and Father Jim is totally legit. So why is this sex scandal such a huge problem? Because you must have spiritual authority to remove negative spirits/demons. The only person that had that was Father Jim. But you can't be a priest in name only. If you're in a state of sin you don't have any spiritual authority. Will they be removing those three episodes? Will they inform the viewers of the problem? Will they return to the clients' homes and clean up the mess left behind by Father Jim?

2 When we exposed the misdeeds of the team and the para-celebrities featured in season 2's episode, "The Messenger", their defense to many of the deceptions was “we talked about them and that makes it okay." Actually, it doesn't. Why hasn't PRS gone more public with this scandal by contacting the church, other paranormal groups, etc .?

3 What about Lorraine, Tony and N.E.S.P.R.? They have been featured on numerous episodes – many of them awash in deception. If they would help cover up such things, is it a leap to think they would be deceptive about other things? So we have to ask if PRS will remove their episodes?

Here is the link to the thread http://forums.pennstateprs.com/index.php?/topic/29968-concerning-posts-by-father-jim/

If PRS removes this thread we'll publish it as we have screen shots of everything and will be monitoring their site.

It seems as though some of our special contributors have upset our reading audience. We've been contacted about why do you have this or that person post on this blog? By allowing these people to post blogs, you're endorsing them and their services.

When we started the Eye on the Paranormal we tried posting more than one blog per week. But we just didn't have the time, and there are so many topics we would never have the time to write about. So we decided to ask for anyone that wanted to blog about the paranormal to contact us. We didn't ask for any I.D. or background checks, etc. We wanted people to post about whatever type of paranormal subject they felt like. Turns out that you open yourself up to attack by our detractors and the fake para-celebs we expose.

We have a wide range of people posting here but I guess I have to say this: we don't endorse the services of anyone who posts here. If you want recommendations contact me directly.

As to allegations towards one of our posters, I will deal with that in the near future.

Where Paranormal Investigators and Ghost Hunters Tred - Part II

By Skarlet Rae

Continued from: Where Paranormal Investigators and Ghost Hunters Tred - Part I

This is the continuing segment to my last post, where I started discussing questions that have been circling my mind.  Questions like, 'What is the intent of paranormal investigators and ghost hunters?',  'What do paranormal investigators and ghost hunters ultimately accomplish?', and 'How do paranormal investigators and ghost hunters help?'.

In the previous segment I covered what, in my opinion the intent of most paranormal investigators and ghost hunters are.  In this segment I will continue and talk about what paranormal investigators and ghost hunters accomplish and how they help.

Establishing that paranormal investigators and ghost hunters gather evidence to document and prove the existence of the paranormal, I now need to explore where it leads.  As in any scieintific field, after evidence is gathered and proof is presented that something 'exists', then what?  As in finding molecules and atoms, or as in finding anything that wasn't 'proved' previously.  Once scientists discover and prove the existence of those things, then what?  What did they do with it?  In the same way, what are the paranormal investigators and ghost hunters doing with the information they gather?

It must be a great relief to those, who have been experiencing paranormal activity, to have someone come in and give them concrete proof that what they were experiencing wasn't a figment of their imagination.  It'll confirm to them that others too are hearing, seeing and feeling what they've been.  To many, it confirms to them their sanity.  Ok, great.  But then what?

How do they or we know exactly what it is that they've gathered proof of?  What is it that they caught on evp's, on videos, on their cameras?  Those who think they have discerened correctly what they have documented, how do they really know?  Even if they do know.  "Then what?".   "What exactly does it achieve?"  All that time and effort, what was it for?  Just to prove that there IS something there?

At this juncture we could easily stop and say, "Well, we don't know exactly what it is, so let's just forget about it".  Yet those who are experiencing activity, especially activity that is unsettling, disturbing and to some frightening, most of the time, want to know what it is and how are they to deal with it.

Today, there are many shows on television dealing with the same genre, namely paranormal investigators, paranormal investigative groups, ghost hunter's stories and the such.  They all run along similar lines.  A specific place has paranormal activity. The team goes in, gets evidence, present their evidence at the 'reveal', and the show is over.

Just out of curiosity, I've mentally put myself in the position of the 'client'.  The person who initiated the investigation by calling in the paranormal investigative team.  Let's say I'm the caretaker for a historic building and many day that I work there I experience 'things'.  So I call in a paranormal investigative group.  The team has completed the investigation and they have collected all the evidence.  They have done the 'reveal'.  They have shown me that what I've been seeing and hearing is actually there, and not my imagination.  I've received proof that something is there when I feel my hair being lifted, when my shoulders get touched.  I understand better when papers fly off my desk by themselves without a window being open and the hvac system being off.  So I wasn't crazy when I discovered drawers opened, when I know I shut them.  Then it wasn't a dream when I couldn't open the door, it being seemingly locked, only to find it wide open ten minutes later.  Ok.  I'm grateful to have validation of what I've been experiencing.  But then what?

Can they help me somehow?  Can they help when the activity is present, and fear hits the pit of my stomach like a boulder, making me feel like I just want to run?  What exaclty can they do?  What ultimately do they accomplish?  I've heard many, many stories where a homeowner, having paranormal activity calls in a paranormal investigative team.  After all is said and done and the team leaves, the activity increases.  Increases?  Yikes!  To me, personally, that would be quite unsettling if not scary.

As exhilirating as it might be, to investigate and gather evidence using modern technological equipment.  My question still stands..."What do they accomplish?" and "How do they help"?

I've read the mission statements from many paranormal investigative goups and teams - those who have one.  Most of them seem similar.  Their goal is to investigate and document paranormal activity.  They want to scientifically prove the parnormal.  Some also add that they wish to assist those with paranormal problems.  Therefore, my question remains.  How do they do that?  What exactly are they qualified to do to 'help'?  There were those that state they use their gifts combined with scienitific equipment to collect scientific data.  That's great, but how does that help?  If I was someone in need of help in the paranormal, I would be expecting to know what help they offer.  Is it scientific?  Is it from their 'gifts'?  What exactly are they going to do?

When I go to a doctor (another scientific and gifted helper), I'm usually told what test is going to be done.  It's not shrouded in mystery.  I know what a tongue depresser does, or an x-ray machine.  I know that when I get an injection what it's for, what that needle contains.  I am told by the medical professional what was found through the testing and what options there are to 'help' the situation that was found.  So again, what exactly do they do to help?

You might think to yourself, what about those who have the most altruistic intents?  Well, from my point of view, even those who have the best intent, how are they able to help?  Where is the handbook that tells them (or us) how to deal with all the different types of entitied that are documented at an investigation?  Many use aids from the metaphysical and parapsychological communities.  Things like burning sage and other herbs.  Walking through the property saying positive affirmations while carrying the burning herb.  Sounds mystical, doesn't it?  I would have thought so too, if I didn't clearly know that many times, it does little, sometimes nothing, and at worst, those types of positive affirmations and sage burnings only seems to increase the paranormal activity that was bothersome to begin with. Sometimes it only temporarily puts things at bay, for things to only return stronger later.  Again, Yikes!  For those who are enjoying the paranormal activity, naturally this doesn't apply.  They are happily living with the activity, even deriving pleasure from it.  I'm referring to those individuals who are bothered, unsettled and even frightened by paranormal occurances.

Now don't get me wrong, I do understand that encompassing the paranormal in a fully scientific way is in it's very early stages, if it's at all possible to encompass this field in a fully scientific way.  That, from a scientific standpoint it's a new horizon of discovery.  We need to remember though that ghosts and what goes bump in the night have been around as long as man has.  It is not a new phenomena.  It's just being approached in a new scienitific way.

All that is great.  I applaud all who go forth to conquer new frontiers.  Yet I have a great apprehension in the pit of my stomach.  As described above, where activity can increase after an investigation, it is a pretty tentative proposition, in my opinion, to jump right into something that one knows nothing or very little about.  Especially when there are real dangers that could be encountered.
