Dalai Lama Gives Introductory Talk on Buddhism

Dharamsala, HP, India, 27 May 2015 - His Holiness the Dalai Lama was given a traditional Tibetan welcome when he arrived at the Upper Tibetan Children’s Village School this morning. A large group of female students sang a traditional welcoming song. As His Holiness walked from his car to the stage he greeted people in the crowd who caught his eye. Approximately 4500 students from Upper and Lower TCV Schools, Gopalpur, Suja and Chauntra TCVs, Sherab Gatsel Lobling, students at various universities and others currently attending a Teacher Training organized by the Education Department of the CTA, were seated under an awning on the Upper TCV basketball court.

Once His Holiness had taken his seat, several groups of lay-people performed exemplary debates directly in front of the stage discussing the three kinds of knowledge, the two methods for generating the awakening mind of bodhichitta, definitions of the Three Jewels, the Four Noble Truths and so forth.

“Today, people from a variety of places have gathered here to listen to an introduction to Buddhism,” His Holiness began. “This is the ninth occasion that we’ve done this and it looks like this might be the biggest yet. Students and teachers from different schools, my greetings to you all - Tashi delek. I’d especially like to greet those who have just debated in front of us and congratulate them for taking an interest in logic and philosophy.

“In Tibet in the past almost no one from the lay community or even from among the nuns engaged in debate. This was one of our shortcomings. In the 56 years we’ve been in exile, I’ve urged people, even those belonging to monasteries and nunneries that had no tradition of study to take it up. Phende Lekshe Ling, Namgyal Monastery, is an example. When it was established by the 7th Dalai Lama he asked the monks of Zhalu Monastery to give the monks of the new monastery training in performing rituals. Like those at Gyumey and Gyutö Tantric Colleges, they were adept, but followed no course of study. That has changed. Similarly, study in the nunneries has succeeded to the point that we will shortly have nuns who have become Geshes or Geshemas.”

He said that the excellent Nalanda tradition had spread across the length and breadth of Tibet and yet the majority of the people did not properly appreciate it. It is a tradition that relies on investigation and analysis, not just scriptural quotation. He cited the Buddha’s advice to his followers not to accept what he taught at face value, but to test it the way a goldsmith satisfies himself of the value of gold.

His Holiness remarked that the psychology and philosophy explained in the Nalanda tradition are of great interest to contemporary scholars and scientists. They are sufficiently impressed to enquire whether its dialectical approach can be applied to other academic disciplines. He feels it can. He mentioned that while Buddhist traditions identify 49 or 51 emotions, the American psychologist Paul Ekman has done extensive research into facial expressions that enable him to identify 15.

When, 40 years ago, His Holiness was thinking of opening a conversation with modern scientists, a Western Buddhist friend cautioned him to be careful saying that science is the killer of religion. He considered this carefully and concluded that, as a tradition based on reason, Buddhism was not vulnerable to this threat. He went ahead and is confident that the results have been mutually beneficial. One result is that monks in the great monasteries re-established in South India now study science as part of their curriculum.

“When I reached Mussoorie in April 1959, most of you were not born. Now I’m in my 81st year and I will definitely not live for another 80 years, but judging by my present physical health I might live another 10 or 20 years. You Tibetans who are young today will have to shoulder the responsibility of preserving our religion and culture. Our brothers and sisters in Tibet are not free to do so. We who have such freedom should exercise it.

“Conditions in Tibet in the past were ripe for change,” His Holiness said. “In retrospect I can see that many things could have been done differently. The 13th Dalai Lama tried to strengthen links between different parts of Tibet because the country was politically fragmented. But what bound all Tibetans together was their Buddhist culture, their respect for and study of the Kangyur and Tengyur. This was also true of the Himalayan and Mongolian regions too.”

His Holiness pointed out that every one of the 7 billion human beings alive today wants to be happy. He clarified that the Bodhisattva ideal is not about abandoning our own happiness, but about giving priority to the happiness of others.

“However,” he asked, “how can you help others if you can’t help yourself? We pray that all beings be free from suffering, but for the prayer to be fulfilled we need to do something about it.”

Recalling his recent discussions with Archbishop Desmond Tutu, who also visited TCV, he said that their conclusion was that we need to find happiness without violence, which is something everyone can try to do. He said that it’s clear that if humanity is happy, each of us as individuals will be happy too. He repeated that as human beings we are all responsible for each other; we all have the potential to be kind and affectionate. He also spoke about his commitment as a Buddhist monk to promoting harmony among the world’s religious traditions.

Finally, His Holiness spoke of his commitment to preserving the natural environment of Tibet, something of importance not only to Tibetans but also to maybe 1 billion other people in Asia who depend on the waters of rivers that rise in Tibet.

He also voiced his concern to preserve Tibetan culture, a culture of peace and non-violence, which can make a positive contribution in the wider world. He told the story of a former Tibetan official who had emigrated to the USA and was working cleaning vegetables in a university kitchen. His colleagues noticed that he was carefully rescuing worms and bugs he found on the vegetables, setting them aside and taking them outside to release them at the end of his shift. They asked what he was doing and he told them that Tibetans try not to kill small creatures, but to protect life wherever they can. Shortly afterwards he noticed that several of them were following his example. His Holiness concluded:

“I’ve done what I can to preserve Tibet’s ecology and its compassionate, non-violent culture. Now I’m passing this responsibility to you.”

He announced that he will give a further introduction to Buddhism tomorrow. He will also lead a ceremony for generating the awakening mind of bodhichitta and make time to answer students’ questions. The day after that, he will give an Avalokiteshvara empowerment.

Once Again Summoning Demons Takes Center Stage

I really hate to keep talking about this regurgitated subject however, the article I attached  below will explain exactly the point I was trying to make in the past blogs that I have written in the past 2 years. I found the following article after seeing this going viral on Twitter. I can't begin to say how dangerous and reckless this is. The following is part of a article I found on this "demon challenge" but there are plenty more so feel free to see for yourself.

"Charlie Challenge Goes Viral as Teens Try Summoning Demons With Two Pencils And A Piece Of Paper"

Read more: http://www.usmagazine.com/celebrity-news/news/charlie-challenge-viral-teens-summoning-demons-pencils-2015265#ixzz3bO4EQge7

Kids today! Apparently all you need to summon demons is two pencils and a piece of paper. The “Charlie Challenge” is the latest viral sensation to sweep the Internet, which features teens chanting “Charlie, Charlie are you there?” and “Charlie, Charlie can we play?

According to countless Instagrams and Vines, the two pencils are placed in a cross formation on a chart that reads “yes,” “no,” and vice versa on the bottom half. After the teens chant, the pencil moves (supposedly on its own), indicating that, yes, Charlie is indeed there."

This is sounding so very much like the Slender Man crap and two teenage girls stabbed a fellow classmate in order to please Slender Man and become a demon and have magical powers. The little girl survived but was badly attacked in the name of this demon. Teens and adults were constantly going into the woods summoning this thing (that was made up from a drawing of a creepy looking demon someone sent in for some contest) was very much a popular activity. The following is from a article explaining part of just what happened to refresh your memory:

"ABCnews.com reports "WAUKESHA, Wis. (AP) — Prosecutors say two 12-year-old southeastern Wisconsin girls stabbed their 12-year-old friend nearly to death in the woods to please a mythological creature they learned about online.

Both girls were charged as adults with first-degree attempted homicide Monday in Waukesha County Circuit Court; they each face up to 60 years in prison if convicted. A court commissioner set bail at $500,000 cash per child. According to a criminal complaint, the girls had been planning to kill their friend for months and finally made the attempt in a park on Saturday morning, after a slumber party.

One of the girls told a detective they were trying to become "proxies" of Slender Man, a mythological demon-like character they learned about on www.creepypasta.wikia.com, a website about horror stories and legends. They planned to run away to the demon's forest mansion after the slaying, the complaint said.

"I recognize their young ages but it's still unbelievable," Court Commissioner Thomas Pieper said during one of the girls' initial court appearances Monday.

The victim suffered 19 stab wounds; one missed a major artery near her heart by a millimeter, doctors told police. She was in stable condition Monday. The court documents did not provide her name."  <~~~~~~ THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM PEOPLE..

Summoning demons successfully usually involves a multiple amount of people. If these intentions are strong enough within one individual, it is still possible to successfully bring a demon through the planes of existence, but it's chances are even better with more people involved. If you think about it and add up all the intention in the room then you can see that more people usually equals more intention and then more power. And as I've said in many blogs it's really the intention behind it. And there is a thing as a Mexican demon named Charlie however, I'll get demons alright and when you call out to another plane everything there hears you.

Many people are actually attempting to summon Incubus/Succubus which are demons known for sexually assaulting men and women mainly when they sleep or have sleep paralysis. But it doesn't just happen during sleep. Please people....There is actually demon porn! Feel free to google it yourself. I came upon this stuff and it is blatant full on demons from hell (One Titled) having sexual intercourse with human females and it's very popular. I've discussed this before and it has only become so much worse. People are truly summoning demons for sexual pleasure and/or companionship. This they get from movies, TV shows etc...This is not safe and you will regret what you open up. Incubus/Succubus given legal ground are very hard to get rid of. We have people attempting Black Magic are fooled as they believe demons can be controlled and will do their bidding. The fact is these demons ONLY OBEY SATAN! Listen to me please....Do not be fooled. Do not let your curiosity get the better of your judgement! Seriously.....once you open yourself up to that it becomes very real. In a moment I will have scripture for you to read for yourself. I do not waiver outside of the Gospel, it's God's Word. Our instructions for life. No one is perfect. That is not what this is about. I'm receiving disturbing information and it concerns me. There is no need to summon any dark force I beg of you. You will regret it. They can NOT be safely called upon like you may think they can. You will pay a price, I promise you will. Depression is just the beginning of what you mentally suffer. These movies and books are so much

Just like I spoke of last week....many attempt summoning demons via ouija board or spirit boards. The following was taken from the NY Daily News and I found it very interesting and thought provoking.

"Use of a Ouija board has even led to violence and even to murder..." Dr. Marta Prohazka of Fairfax, Virginia, is also convinced that spirits can play terrifying destructive games with human behavior. During her practice as psychotherapist and psychoanalyst, she realized that many patients she had considered "hallucinating paranoid schizophrenics" might instead merely be in touch with something invisible to her but visible to them."I came to understand that another plane, or dimension or existence interrelated with our plane or visible manifestation," she said. "By training and expanding consciousness, some individuals gain entrance into that invisible dimension. It seems to some like a window into heaven."

If you feel the Devil is attacking you with fears, worries, anxiety etc., you can pray in the Name of Jesus and resist and overcome him!--Jesus said, "Behold, I give you power over all the power of the Enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you."Luke 10:19. This power is YOURS if you believe His Word, claim His promises and pray in the Name of Jesus! In fact, if you are filled with faith and His Holy Spirit, you have the authority to resist the Devil directly, just like Jesus and His early disciples did.

What is the Greatest Benefit of the Gospel?‏

By Reverend Mark Hunnemann

One thing have I asked of the Lord,
that will I seek after:
that I may dwell in the house of the Lord
all the days of my life,
to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord
and to inquire in his temple.
(Psalm 27:4)

4 In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. 5 For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake. 6 For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
(2 Corinthians 4:4-6)

I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better. (Philippians 1:23)

For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God…
(1 Peter 3:18)

What is the greatest and most glorious benefit of the gospel?

Justification and forgiveness of sins? But why were we justified and forgiven?

Eternal life? But what IS eternal life? (see John 17: 1ff)

Receiving the Holy Spirit or being adopted into God’s family? But why did God do both of these?

Perhaps the defeat of Satan and death? But is the defeat of these an end in itself, or was this defeat designed to overcome an obstacle and attain a greater benefit?

What is the primary reason God humiliated Himself and took on human flesh?

And why did Christ die and rise again (primary reason)?

We live in narcissistic times where even the gospel has been tainted by self-interest. Let me state this clearly: The gospel’s greatest gift is…..God!  GOD is the gospel! The ultimate goal of the gospel is seeing and savoring—delighting and displaying—the beauty of the glory of Christ. The ultimate aim of the gospel is the display of God’s glory and the removal of every obstacle to our delighting and savoring Him as our highest treasure.

Everything that Jesus did to accomplish redemption for us, and everything He did to apply redemption (see John Murray’s Redemption: Accomplished and Applied) to us, was done to overcome obstacles that hindered us from fully glorifying and enjoying God. That does not minimize the importance of each step in our redemption. Instead, once we understand WHY the Trinity has done so much in accomplishing and applying our redemption, then each of those gospel diamond facets (e.g. justification, adoption, effectual calling. etc.) becomes all the more glorious and wonderful! At great cost to Himself, the Holy Trinity accomplished and applied redemption to us SO THAT we might glorify and enjoy Him forever. (see 1 Peter 3:18 above, etc)

But there has been a shift away from God as the all-satisfying gift of God’s love. The gospel has shifted from God’s love as the gift of HIMSELF to this love as the gift of a mirror in which we like what we see. I’m not denigrating the latter but surely it should not have primacy in our understanding of the gospel.

Romans 8:32 reminds us that 10,000 gifts flow from the love of God in Christ….blood bought gifts of the gospel. But the distortion of the gospel happens when we camp on these blessings given to us instead of focusing on the Giver of these gifts. Often the gospel is presented in such a way that we are center stage instead of God. Since self-esteem has saturated our culture it is difficult for us to see when we rejoice in the gifts more that the Giver of the gifts. But all 10,000 gifts of the gospel would not be good unless they lead to a deeper enjoyment of the glory of God. Indeed, focusing on the gifts is idolatry. Focusing on the facets of the gospel diamond without seeing the beauty of the diamond as a whole would be demeaning of the diamond.

Entire Sunday School curricula, preaching styles, deliverance ministries, and Christian counseling has fallen prey to making much of us to the expense of making much of God. Instead of being theo-centric, they are anthropo-centric….man centered instead of God centered.

For example, there are many psychological benefits that flow from the gospel. However, when we think upon these things do they lead like shafts of light back up to God and His moral perfections and unspeakable glory, or do we spend most of our time looking to see what we get out of the gospel?

Another example would be Christus Victor—Christ, through the cross and resurrection—defeating death and Satan. Since I am involved in circles that deal with demonic issues, it seems that sometimes we exult in our victory over unclean spirits more than we exult in the all glorious God. It can be a subtle shift where we do praise God for His victory over Satan, but lose sight of being God-besotted people, where we supremely delight and display the glory of Christ Himself….not just what He has done through/ for us. The bible says that God is jealous and we need to remember in exorcism/deliverance ministry that God is jealous that we not love spiritual power more than Himself. Like some of you, I have seen extraordinary displays of God’s power, but let these experiences steer our eyes heavenward and take supreme delight in God Himself. It is an ‘occupational hazard’ for those who cast out demons to become enthralled with the experience/gift more than delighting in God and displaying His glory. And I would suggest that a theo-centric view of the gospel might re-shape how some of us perform deliverances. Freeing people from demonic oppression/possession is not an end itself, but so that God is glorified in the removal of an obstacle of that person fully delighting in Christ and displaying His glory. The shift can be subtle and I know I have failed here at times.
Again, it is so easy to focus on the gifts over and above the giver of the gifts. God’s good gifts are to move us to see more of God’s glory and to savor more of His infinitely beautiful moral perfection displayed in the gospel. Even thankfulness for the cross has become for many primarily an echo of OUR worth, and not God’s worth. In 1 Corinthians 10:31 EVERYTHING should be done for the glory of God.

Why does Satan hate the gospel? For numerous reasons, but he mainly hates the gospel because it is the supreme display (especially the cross and resurrection) of the glory of Jesus. The devil wants to make Christ look bad. In the astonishing text above from 2 Corinthians, states that, just as God spoke light into existence, so also he shines the light of the gospel into sinners hearts, so that they might see the glory of God in the face of Christ. Creation…..re-creation. Satan hates the gospel because the death and resurrection are where the glory of Christ is revealed most brightly. Thus he tries to blind people to the beauty of the God of the gospel and the gospel of God. True conversion is the spiritual awakening of our souls to the glory of God as the foundation of our ultimate joy and satisfaction. Jesus died for our sins, was punished for them, had His righteousness imputed to us, so that He might bring us to Himself.

Please do not think that I am minimizing the proper enjoyment of God’s gifts. Indeed, God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him.(J. Edwards, John Piper) Hence, we need not have to choose between our greatest joy and God’s greatest glory! They are one and the same!  Every pore of our being was made for finding our ultimate satisfaction only in the Lord Jesus, by seeing and savoring Him, increasingly and for all eternity.

For the least deserving, and at great cost to Himself, our sovereign Creator overcame all obstacles, to monergistically and graciously give us Himself. All the texts above reveal the psalmist, Paul, and Peter as longing for one thing only—to see the glory of Christ face-to face….to see God in all His beauty. Indeed, for Christians, death is a gift which opens the door for the beatific vision.

It would be unwise, even cruel, of me to stop here. Depending upon your temperament, a call to delight and display the glory of Christ moment by moment may cause discouragement. Why? To be candid, whenever I read of or write about Christ as my supreme treasure, I have two responses: part of me yearns and rejoices in this summons to display the glory of Christ, but I am also overwhelmed with how far short I fall. I have never loved God with all of my being for even one second….and may I humbly say that neither has anybody else. The world, indwelling sin, and demons conspire to take our gaze off of Christ and fixate on something else. I am of the opinion that indwelling sin is the chief culprit of spiritual drag because we carry it around everywhere we go, whereas demons come and go. And the world would have no drag on us if it were not for that seething cauldron of filth that remains in our heart, even after salvation. I/we are sometimes too quick to fault demons for our spiritual malaise. Jesus said that our own hearts are the originating point of all manner of ungodly thoughts, actions, and words.

Nevertheless, God would not desire/demand that He be our supreme delight if, by God’s grace, we were not able to experience some substantial reality of it. Let us pray, despite how we feel, that we might see and savor the glory of God in the face of Christ, and display Christ’s glory to a dark and lost world. Soli deo gloria

Anaheim Mayor Spends 3 Days with Dalai Lama, Desmond Tutu

When Anaheim Mayor Tom Tait took up the Dalai Lama’s offer to hang out together with Bishop Desmond Tutu, he got a taste of His Holiness’ sense of humor.

“He talked about when he was a kid, he just wanted to play and they had to threaten to whip him so he would study,” Tait said. “But they had a special yellow whip for him.

“We laughed about that.”

Tait spent three days at the Dalai Lama’s Dharamshala, India, compound last month, having private talks with the Buddhist master, lunching with the Dalai Lama and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Tutu and sitting in on conversations between the two spiritual leaders.

“It’s so out of the box,” Tait said. “Sitting there, having a conversation with the Dalai Lama and Desmond Tutu about kindness, compassion, love, forgiveness, envy, greed. The biggest issues in life. It was great. Two of the greatest leaders for peace and justice of our time.”

As surprised as Tait was to get the phone call invitation from a Dalai Lama emissary a few weeks earlier, the mayor was hardly a random choice.

Tait has been leading efforts to make Anaheim a “city of kindness.” When first elected mayor in 2010, he ran on a campaign of “freedom and kindness.” It was idea he’d been working on since a 2004 meeting with a father who lost his 6-year-old daughter in a car accident.

The father, Edward Jaievsky, was inspired by the memory of his daughter talking about kindness and began putting up “Kindness is Contagious” signs in Anaheim. And it was contagious: Tait joined him in the project and then expanded it.

Among the noteworthy endeavors is a Million Acts of Kindness program launched in 2013 in the Anaheim City School District. Saying hello to a new student, picking up trash, collecting Christmas toys for underprivileged kids – students were asked to perform 50 such acts of kindness. Collectively, they hit the 1-million target in October.

Those efforts attracted the attention of the Dalai Lama and played a role in the Dalai Lama’s decision to celebrate his 80th birthday at Anaheim’s Honda Center on July 5. And the efforts prompted the invitation to Tait.

“The values of His Holiness are very much alive in Tom Tait,“ said Lama Tenzin Dhonden, a San Diego-based attache for the Dalai Lama. “Tom Tait is a very compassionate being. And Anaheim could become the model for many other cities.

The effects of Taits’ approach can come quickly. Anaheim school Superintendent Linda Wagner thinks the program has been largely responsible to the steady drop in suspensions, which this year are on track to be half of the 442 issued the year before the program started.

A token of kindness

When Tait first met the Dalai Lama at his compound April 22, he gave the Tibetan Buddhist one of Anaheim’s City of Kindness tokens. He also gave him a Ducks’ jersey, embroidered with “HHDL” – for His Holiness the Dalai Lama – and the number 80, for his 80th birthday.

“I didn’t know how much time we’d have, if it would just be a handshake,” Tait said. But it was quite a bit more, starting with a 45-minute conversation that included Tait’s wife, Julie, and a friend, Laguna Beach’s Paul Heeschem.

Tait said that the Dalai Lama started his day at 3:30 a.m., with five hours of meditation.

“He said he meditates because everyone he meets that day, he wants to bring joy, and he doesn’t want to act better or higher than anyone,” said Tait, who owns an engineering company. “He’s a joyful guy. He’s funny and humble. I was worried about how to greet him, but there’s no protocol. He doesn’t go for that.”

The Dalai Lama eats one meal a day, a 90-minute lunch. Tait joined him and Tutu for two meals. The two spiritual icons are writing a book together, “The Book of Joy,” and documentarians were filming their conversations, Tait said.

“Desmond Tutu talked about Nelson Mandela,” Tait recalled. “He said when he’d gone into prison, he was angry and aggressive, a kind of militant. He talked about how suffering can change people – how Mandela came out and was at peace, nonviolent.”

The two men’s message of joy and compassion was “impactful,” said Tait, a Catholic who believes the same values are key to most religions.

“The way to happiness is through kindness to others,” Tait recalled the Dalai Lama saying. “Compassion is especially important toward one’s enemies. It leads to understanding and inner peace.”

Small gestures are part of the equation.

“Every day, he pulled out (the token) to show me he was carrying it,” Tait said. “He loved it.”

Social conscience

The trip, paid for by Tait, was a break from City Council disputes that Tait sometimes puts himself in the middle of. He was the sole opponent of a $158 million tax subsidy for new luxury hotels and of the initial proposal for new stadium lease with the Angels. He also has been the council’s most outspoken advocate of a district election plan that would give Latinos a better chance at equal representation on the council.

But through it all, he has continued efforts to grow kindness.

“A CEO builds a new culture by establishing core values,” Tait said. “That’s what we’re trying to do in the city, build a culture of kindness. Then your crime will drops, your bullying at school will drop, your littering will drop. You stimulate the city to get better and all these good things begin to happen.”

Symptoms of Spiritual Pollution, Part 5

Continued from:
Symptoms of Spiritual Pollution, Part 1
Symptoms of Spiritual Pollution, Part 2

Symptoms of Spiritual Pollution, Part 3

Symptoms of Spiritual Pollution, Part 4

In my continuation on the blog series Spiritual Warfare from the last time I discussed the critical aspect of Dependency.  I first started off the blog series with Reverence for God.  The second part was that to truly understand God you need to submit to his ways and thus not your or other human’s ways.  The third aspect is to be completely dependent upon God for everything in your life. The last section of the blog series I focused on the fourth aspect which is TRUST in God.

The next aspect of Spiritual Warfare is Intimacy with God, Lord Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.  The intimate act of communion with the Creator is what we are after in this life, not the supremacy over demons.  However, some people think that having supremacy over the demons is how you defeat them due to the words spoken by our Lord Jesus Christ giving us authority over the demons found in Matthew 16:19 discussing the keys to the Kingdom.

It is utterly worthless for a person to think that demons flee at the sound of your voice if this person do not know God. This becomes a meaningless act of speaking words in thousands of exorcisms or deliverances if you do not know sweet intimacy with the One who is literally sustaining your soul.  For when you pass away, all of your so-called accomplishments upon this earth shall be stripped away, thus the only thing you will have is your relationship with God.

So when you get to Heaven for judgment of your soul, will you be meeting a total stranger or a King whom you are deeply bonded to? Why one would chase after temporary gifts when you could be pursuing the giver of gifts is mind boggling.  For the warning from above is that whoever loves this world is an enemy of God, James 4:4.  Which Intimacy you choose to have will have serious implications for your soul in eternity.

So what is Intimacy then?  Intimacy is defined as having a close familiarity or friendship, something which is personal and private (Webster’s dictionary).  So intimacy with God carries with it the aspects of a relationship with someone where the individual is vulnerable, loving, trusting, etc.  To have an intimate relationship with God means that the deepest part of you is having a relationship with God.

What an incredible world in which God who is glorious and you are the speck who is just excited to be in His holy presence.  Intimacy with God fills our souls with a deep sense of completion as well as satisfaction.  In this intimate act one can find joy, peace, and satisfaction working up within us and pulling us away from a love of any created thing.  No greater joy can be experienced than serving a God who says his children are pleasing in His sight.  Compared to truly knowing God in an intimate manner being able to discern the presence of demons seems worthless.

So let me ask you the reader of this blog this question.  What do you gain from having a heightened awareness of the powers of darkness?   Especially when it comes to using “discernment” so to speak in Spiritual Warfare.  Our God has already told you that demons abound in this world and that they are intent on destroying us humans, John 10:10.  Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ beheld Satan fall like lightening, Luke 10:18.  So being able to sense or see demons crawling all over other people only heightens your distress.

Yes, they are here and there, but what can you do about it?  Nothing!  You are just a powerless speck and demons aren’t afraid of you in the slightest.  However, what they are extremely afraid of is God, Lord Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, see James 2:19.  The demons view you the reader of this blog for what you are: A fragile creature who is so easy to traumatize, manipulate and cause havoc within your life.

The demons know the Bible better than you or any person—thus they can quote any verse in any language known and unknown ancient languages to us humans.  Many people in Spiritual Warfare feel that they must do certain aspects to defeat demons.  These people feel that they must “study” and know why this person is “demonized” by a particular demon.  Yes, part of that aspect is important to know which ones are present within the person, but it is not the end all requirements to defeat the demons.

However, what do you personally gain by focusing on mere created things when you should be directing your attention to the Creator of all?  Many times people turn to so called “demonologists” who perform acts to cast off these forces because these demonized people feel they have the knowledge to defeat these created beings.  When you have intimacy with God the Father you will be protected, but sadly a demonized person is in this position for the lack of intimacy with God from within their life.  Sadly, many of these demonized people are “Christians” who are continually sinning.  The apostle Peter warned of sinning Christians being in the grips of Satan in 2nd Peter 2:21.

Now what do you gain by fantasizing that you can go to battle against creatures who are far stronger, can manipulate the laws of psychic, come and go within milliseconds and that you have some knowledge of discernment along with knowledge of which demonic force might be present?

Unfortunately, many people feel that this is all they need and throw the name of the Lord Jesus Christ around to cause the demons to tremble and flee.  While they are trembling because of the power in the name of God, however, the demons are not trembling because of this person not having an intimate relationship with God.

Therefore does focusing on the enemies of God draw you closer to God Himself?  No, it does not draw one closer to God.  Searching within yourself for some “powers” that don’t exist is a complete waste of time.  This life is not about triumphing over some group of non-human creatures known as demons.  Life is about pursuing an intimate relationship with the Creator of all.  Thus this means accepting as well as cooperating with His methods as God drills those four essential attitudes down deep within your being.

Those core values for God are: reverence, submission, dependency and trust.  As long as you keep these 4 values at arm’s length, one is not going to grow in the sight of God.  What you will create is a state of being spiritually stagnated.  These are the humans that the demons seek out to enact their plans upon because of the stagnation within their lives.  In order to break free from the grips of the demons one must have that special intimacy with God.

In our next blog we will cover DISCERNMENT and what this affords a person as this is thrown around in Spiritual Warfare.

Can Ouija Boards Actually Cause Psychological Harm?

I know last year I wrote a blog regarding this subject but I think I really need to touch on it a little further. I always receive emails about this...usually after its too late and activity is already taking place or they are being tormented psychologically. The following are posts I found on random sites just researching this subject on the Internet however, they are still very disturbing nonetheless. Feel free to check for yourself. This subject has many different opinions and this blog is just mine and what I personally believe. First I'd like to throw in this verse from the bible regarding subjects of this nature....

"Isaiah 8:19 says it all: “Should not a people seek their God? Should they seek the dead on behalf of the living?”

"Shortly after the death of my lovely father, my mother became very obsessed with contacting him via the Ouija board. It was really bad. She has now found herself surrounded by spirits day and night. Although at first they were pleasant and friendly in their communication, they became abusive and insulting. She no longer needs the board as they speak to her without. The spirits allege to be my father and his family. They have threatened to kill her. She has even sustained injuries she says they have inflicted on her. She sees lights like little flames around her. My mother is in her early seventies and sometimes sounds distraught. I live in another part of the country to her and have not witnessed any of this… although I can see how tormented she is when I visit her. I believe she has allowed demons into her life through the Ouija Board. I had believed they were conning my mum into thinking the family were communicating. The language they use is disgusting and not words my mum word ever have even been familiar with! I feel really sorry for her and I don’t know if she will ever be free now."

"My husband watched my daughters play with a Ouija board and it told them to look in a box where they could find a lock of his mother’s hair. They found it. Since then he has been on the board himself alone and I am finding writings to Heavenly father and Satan. He does not sleep and seems in a daze… any ideas?"

"A Ouija board is a gateway to the astral plane. The lower astral plane. The lower astral plane is where demons reside. Just like in the movie "Insidious'. When you communicate through a Ouija board you are opening up a gateway to demons. Demons that can invade your life and or take over your body and you may never be able to get rid of it or them your entire life."

Now Let's Discuss This "Zozo" Crap..

The reason for my attitude towards this is because the more people that speak about it and go on TV etc..is only giving it more power and more life. When you give something enough attention you make it real. A lot of things simply start as a thought form. It's scary how much it can come alive simply by giving it so much attention. Good example of this is the Slender Man phenomenon that I blogged about last year. It was on the many different news outlets. From what I understand, The demon was created by somebody 5 years ago I believe in a contest to submit the creepiest monster however, the photo seemed to gain a lot of attention and it became alive and took on a life of its own... Very much like the Thin Man legend. I personally believe all the attention this character was given has probably inadvertently created a negative entity. People started contacting him trying to summon him or trying to prove he is real is asking for trouble. It's just an excuse to keep things going. Why not leave well enough alone? Who go on TV and draw even more attention to this entity? Jesus Christ can handle this demon. I love how they act this demon can't be stopped. With the right help any attachment or possession is not impossible for God to eradicate. Demons fear God for a good reason. Just like slender man I believe this Zozo hype has taken on a life of its own.

I found the following article very interesting: (The Sun, 22884) by Lewis Clifford.

“They are vile creatures of the night,” warned Dr. Alberto Gonzalez, of the Pan American Institute of Health. “They exist. They can possess the bodies of their victims and cause normally gentle, nonviolent people to commit outrageous crimes. They can assume other forms some quite ghastly.

“And they are among us in many instances solely because of these sinister toys called Ouija boards.” Gonzalez, a psychiatrist and parapsychologist, claims he has found demonic links to several cases of cattle mutilation and human vampirism in Central America.

Rev. Morris Cerullo, president of World Evangelism and author of The Black Side Of Satan, Creation House, Carol Stream, Illinois, 1973. “Many people have related to me weird tales of answers given by the Ouija board. This and other occult games may seem intriguing, but the implications are serious and not to be tampered with. They can lead to dangerous waters indeed.

“Use of a Ouija has even led to violence and even to murder…” Dr. Marta Prohazka of Fairfax, Virginia, is also convinced that spirits can play terrifying destructive games with human behavior. During her practice as psychotherapist and psychoanalyst, she realized that many patients she had considered “hallucinating paranoid schizophrenics” might instead merely be in touch with something invisible to her but visible to them.” I came to understand that another plane, or dimension or existence interrelated with our plane or visible manifestation,” she said. “By training and expanding consciousness, some individuals gain entrance into that invisible dimension. It seems to some like a window into heaven.

“I also learned that contact with the other dimension can be dangerous, especially if a psychically sensitive person loses his emotional harmony. The window into heaven can then become a window into Hell.”

Millions of the plastic oracles are in use in American households, nevertheless. And the eerie messages from beyond they have spelled out have been credited or blamed for marriages, divorces, sickness, misery, mystery or murder. Psychic and medium Anne Rose told the Sun: “Horrible demons have definitely been released by the Ouija board.

“The Ouija board is a vehicle which makes it easy for negative spirits and demonic forces to enter this plane of existence.” The Merrillville, Indiana clairvoyant cautioned that evil spirits or demonic forces often gain the trust of people experimenting with Ouija boards by answering several questions truthfully and providing predictions. “Once they have gained the trust of their victims, it is easy for the entity to move in and take over either by strongly influencing that person, or by outright possession,” she said. People who are untrained and unsophisticated in the field of the paranormal and supernatural should never play with devices such as the Ouija board, according to the clairvoyant. http://www.ghostresearch.org/articles/ouija.html

People have many different opinions and theories on this subject. I personally do believe in the power of suggestion that can take over when you subconsciously move the planchet for it to say what you fear or what you want it to say. So many people are only freaking themselves out and there is certainly nothing paranormal behind it or demonic for that matter. But there are times when an evil entity will take over and it's usually too late by the time people have realized there's something terribly wrong and they make the connection between the Ouija board, dousing rods, K2 etc..whatever device was used in an attempt to communicate with the spirit world. Any ITC device (instrumental trans communication) can create the same trouble. It's the intent behind it when you are trying to communicate and summon which gives these evil inhuman entities a "legal right" to come into your life which in my humble opinion makes it a lot harder to get rid of them as opposed to when they were inadvertently invited out of ignorance or lack of knowledge. The reason I'm writing about this again is because of the number of emails I'm receiving regarding the spirit board and other types of ITC devices as it seems to be on the rise of people wanting and intentionally trying to summon a demon. And unfortunately there is a plethora of instructions on how to do this all over the Internet and YouTube. Feel free to research this for yourself if you think I'm exaggerating in any way. I am certainly not trying to create a new do panic I am simply just passing on some knowledge and what I have noticed in the last couple years. I wrote last week about King Solomon and the condition he was in the last days he was on this earth which many believe have to give it the fact he kept so many demons to do his bidding when God forbid it. With all his wisdom he should've taken God seriously and as I said last week in King Solomon's last days he was speaking out of his head it was gibberish he was definitely being tormented in the mind. The mistake people make is that these things can be controlled in a protection circle or what ever that is just not true. They only obey Satan nobody else. I can't make that anymore clear they will not obey anyone but Satan!

Please understand it is just not worth the risk my friends I'll be honest with you curiosity is out there I'll be the first to let you know that I had a father who was a minister and I knew better and I played around with the word knowing better so I get it....I understand the curiosity sometimes gets the better of us. I was fully aware it was wrong....at least in my religious faith that I practiced and I did it anyway and the results were terrifying for me and my two friends and till this day they won't talk about it. One of them will but not the other. This event took place alone 18 yrs ago.

The Paranormal and the Importance of Doctrine

By Reverend Mark Hunnemann

We live in an age of unprecedented escape from reason. Instead of folks making an informed decision regarding eternal truths by the use of the bible and reason, feelings and pragmatism rule the day. For many, they reject anything that they simply don't like and embrace ideas that feel right to them. Others will believe in most anything that seems, at the moment, to work. Of course biblical Christianity does include our feelings, and it does 'work', but to use either of those as the main criterion for determining our beliefs is a certain recipe for disaster, temporally and eternally.

Christianity works because it is true. It is NOT true because it seems to work. The latter makes our observations the final arbiter of 'truth' instead of God and His Word. None of our faculties should be allowed to operate autonomously from God. Yet that happens frequently when professing Christians have a supernatural encounter and mis-identify their experience.

How many times have I/you heard someone say: "That spirit must be good or positive, because it FEELS good and positive."? If God's truth/doctrine truly rules our lives, we would not make such foolish observations.

On a similar note, I heard Jerry Springer say in an advertisement regarding his tabloid TV show: "It is all so wrong, but oh so entertaining!" If we immersed ourselves in doctrine, then we would not want to waste our time in trashy entertainment. And in my opinion, Springer is one of the high priests of filthy entertainment.

Many Christians say that they don't care for doctrine. The reason given is that they think that doctrine is divisive or that they simply believe in Jesus and the bible.

However, the simplest definition of 'doctrine' is expressing the teaching of the bible! We are all theologians (not in the technical sense)--the issue is whether we are good or bad theologians. And that depends on whether what we believe (doctrine!) is consistent with the bible.

And when someone says that they simply believe in Jesus, my reply is 'which Jesus?' There are many false notions of who Jesus is. Who is Jesus? To answer that (biblically!) we have to wrestle with the dual nature of Jesus--He is fully God and fully man. That, my friends, is high doctrine!

Every denomination, or non-denominational church, has its doctrinal distinctives. That is fine, but what has given doctrine a black eye in many Christians eyes is when pastors or lay people camp on those distinctives. For example, I am Presbyterian and reformed in my beliefs. I was not raised that way but came to those beliefs by reading the bible. However, on Facebook and elsewhere, I have tried to not camp on reformed distinctives because that is divisive. Besides, I believe that the Lord has mainly called me to cultural analysis, and especially focusing on exposing the schemes of the devil--focusing more distinctly on the biblical view of the 'paranormal'.

In my opinion, the single most important need of the Christian community today is to re-capture a sense of God's holiness--which, of course, is doctrine. R.C. Sproul has written profoundly on this vital subject.

Regardless of our callings, we need to re-capture a love for truth/doctrine which is God honoring. We need to resist the spirit of the age which downplays both reason and truth. What we believe will effect where we spend eternity.
