The Paranormal Christian – Residual Musings

By Pastor Michael Frisbee, DD/DM

Even though I have been a studying Christian Demonologist for over 22 years now, and a practicing ordained deliverance pastor for over 17 years now, never do I assert that I know all.  There is always something to be learned, some “ah – ha” moment when a belief you held for a long time gets challenged.  I saw that happen during the Orlando seminar I held on Christian Demonology this past weekend.  When I presented to those in attendance the material and position that the current method of collecting EVP’s used on TV shows and mimicked by those who watch these shows is no different than doing a Ouija session, I saw a lot of light bulbs pop on in the eyes and faces of the attendees.

I had one of those “ah-ha” moments as well this week, which challenged my long held positions on residual haunting.  I had bought into the whole residual energy imprinting and replaying, and I should be ashamed for I am also a science guy, and totally ignored the Laws of Thermodynamics to hold to these beliefs.

What shook that position and belief, was an article written by my co-host on The Paranormal Christian, author of “Seeing Ghosts Through God’s Eyes”, and my friend, Rev. Mark Hunnemann.  His article is titled, “Musings About Residual Hauntings”.  The full text of what he wrote can be found here: http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=321910397845058 , and I highly recommend that you read it, especially if you are an investigator and researcher.

After reading his article, I did a lot of praying and some further reading.  I then sent Rev. Mark an email thanking him, for opening my eyes and my heart, for touching my spirit through God’s Word and wisdom.  This has affected me to the point I am changing my position on this area and adapting my seminar materials to reflect this change as well.

Here is an excerpt from Mark’s article:

For the sake of those without prior knowledge, a residual haunt is a paranormal hypothesis which states that inanimate materials can absorb some form of energy from living beings, during moments of high tension (eg traumatic death). This stored energy can be released, resulting in a display of the recorded activity. These "hauntings" are not intelligent but simply non-interactive recordings similar to a movie or a tape recorder.

Thomas Lethbridge spoke of this phenomenon in Ghost and Ghouls in 1961.  Earlier discussions of this theory date back to the late 19th century. The hypothesis was jump-started in the 1970's in the play “The Stone Tape”. Currently, residual haunt, like verbal solicitation of EVP's, is held so firmly that its truth is seldom questioned, except by a few academics. I will talk more about this next time, but the paranormal community is what sociologists would call a plausibility structure. It enables belief of certain unconventional concepts to be easily believed. Due to shared assumptions about reality and a common web of beliefs, there is a safe environment for certain concepts to be deemed plausible and firmly believed. Unconsciously, certain beliefs become axiomatic...unassailable. The notion of a residual haunt has attained such status, in my opinion, with virtually everyone in a monolithic consensus; just a few (one, that I'm certain of) in the paranormal community would take exception. The point being, there are psychological and sociological forces at work, which makes my attempt to persuade an especially challenging task. Lest you think my discussion of plausibility structures is a putdown (which it is not), the local church should be a plausibility structure...making folks feel safe to believe, in a culture which is becoming increasingly hostile to Christianity. It is simply a sociological perspective. Having blown the whistle on soliciting EVP's, this is a further attempt to help people I care about.

Let us think for a moment about the significant ramifications of this belief. Even if you jettison intelligent human haunt and poltergeist (as I have argued on here), it is still the belief of many Christian investigators that, over three-fourths of legitimate paranormal or supernatural activity is residual. The inference being that real demonic activity is a small percentage of true supernatural activity. A moments communion with common sense reveals the crucial role, for good or ill, which this omni-accepted belief entails. It either has tremendous explanatory power  (85% of paranormal phenomena), or Satan has us whipped. The stakes are high and Christians cannot afford to be wrong on this one--too much is at stake. Let me use an analogy to illustrate the latter--Satan has us whipped.. BTW, if you are feeling negativity in your gut right about now, it may be due to the influence of the plausibility structure. There is reason I mentioned it...

The drug cartels in Mexico and elsewhere take for granted that a certain number of drug shipments coming over our border will get nabbed. In fact, at times they will intentionally send a decoy in order to distract away from a larger shipment. The point being that the cartels are willing to take some losses, as long as the bulk of the drugs is getting across and their profits are running high. Similarly, if all residuals are really demonic, then the vast majority of demons will not be detected during investigations. Even if you do a walk through, quoting scripture, praying, and digital recorders running, that is not going to be sufficient in exposing all demonic activity. If a full cleansing (commanding in Jesus’ name any demons present to leave) is not done, then we have no biblical warrant to expect demons (especially stronger ones) to make their true identity known. Sure, the reading of the bible and prayer is irritating and painful, but all they have to do is ride it out...as long as they are not commanded in the name of Jesus to leave. The demon knows in advance that all it has to do is either shut up entirely or play-act as an imprinted memory, and they will be left alone. It is not uncommon for a demonically active location, to suddenly become very quiet when we come snooping around. Time is different for them...they can hide in a crawl space for weeks until the threat is over. Like the cartel, they know a certain number of detections or losses are inevitable, but as long as the majority of demons are identified as residual, then they are home free. Since 85% of this demonic activity is presupposed by investigators to be residual in nature, they can afford a few losses; the majority is slipping past and the human profit (carnage) is high. If demonic activity is relatively rare, then why are so many investigators having "visitors"...Because Ed Warren tended to "search the cars for drugs" via biblical provocation, his educated analysis was that about 50% of paranormal activity was demonic; when biblically provoked, the seeming non-interactive entity or activity suddenly became quite interactive! We need to ask: why was his percentage so much higher than ours today?

The Art Of Being A Jerk

By Reap Paden

In case you didn't know it, some people think I am a jerk. I am sometimes. I am going to share with you some of my beliefs and they way I go about things ....The art of being a jerk,if you will....

I have always figured people deserve some measure of respect until they deserve to lose that respect.

Always listen to the other side of the story, there are always two sides and the truth, almost always lies somewhere in the middle. There are some exceptions to this depending on the mental state of one or both sides.

If both parties in a dispute are reasonable people you can usually chalk up any differences to a misunderstanding of facts or actions.

Talking on the phone or in person for 5 minutes can settle a text-only dispute which has dragged on for 5 years.

Always admit when you are wrong and put more energy into admitting it than you did into being wrong in the first place.

Never assume you know the real story unless you were personally present for any and all events involved (and even then you may still be wrong).

Before you speak, write or act out about another persons actions on the ..Internet..,or anywhere else always remember those actions can never be taken back completely, ever.

Remember many people are quite different behind a keyboard than they are in real life. Many times even they are not aware of it.

Do not confuse facts with opinions. For example-

Fact - Helium is lighter than air.
Opinion - Balloons are pretty.

When someone offers an olive branch, never beat them with it. I can not stress this one enough. I have made many very good friends following this rule. It has sometimes caused me to be betrayed but the good FAR outweighs the bad effects of this rule.

Never make up stories or tell lies about people to save face....this one is a duh but I feel like it should be said.

Keep in mind everyone has made mistakes, everyone has baggage, EVERYONE. Anyone who says they have not or don't is lying.

Remember, many people learn from mistakes. Do not hold one mistake (or even two) against a person when they are trying to make things right.

Do not allow a person to say things about you which are untrue unchecked. This is not a good idea because humans have a tendency to view silence as supporting an accusation, besides that you should have enough self esteem to stand up for yourself. This does not mean becoming an 'instant asshole' it means addressing things true to your form and allowing people to figure out what rings true. If you are honest it does not matter if people believe you or not you know the truth.

Never allow one person's opinion (or a group's even) to drag you down. As long as you can look yourself in the mirror,in the eye for one minute then you usually are doing the best you can do.

There are times when you should keep your mouth shut and listen.....

There are times when no answer is the correct answer. I wish I could give you some hard rules on this....trust your instinct is the best I can do.

'Taking the high road' doesn't always mean not addressing things, it is the way you address things which indicates which 'road' your are taking.

Sometimes the low road is the only way to go.....make sure you get back on the right road ASAP, but a little detour can be good at times.

If you follow these rules then you can be assured people will think you are a jerk.....Speaking for myself...I am OK with it....

Issue 60 – Deceptive Demonologists & "Paranormal State Exposed"

By Kirby Robinson

Haters go on hating, armchair demonologists go on deceiving, while EYE ON THE PARANORMAL goes on exposing!

The level of hatred from those who wish to silence us keeps growing. It doesn't make any difference to us, as we'll keep on exposing the lies and deceptions no matter where it takes us. In the next few weeks some of what I must expose will even cause me personal pain.

What's Up with PARANORMAL SWAT?

I'm always happy to be of help if anyone asks for it. While there are times I'm unable to offer assistance, I'll find someplace/someone who can. In the past I've even joined groups to do so. One such group was PARANORMAL SWAT. Last week I noticed that I was no longer a part of said group, as someone had removed me from the roster.

I always try to warn those haters, fakers and armchair exorcists that what they say about me is going to reflect back upon them. So this leaves me to ask is PARANORMAL SWAT [or at least those in charge] have true motives? Or are they looking for cases that will get them glory, fame, movie/TV/book deals, and/or speaking gigs? Is that why you're involved in this field?

FREE ALL SPIRITS is Returning

If you have been following me since 2008 when we joined MySpace, you may recall the name was Free All Spirits. We now have our Free All Spirits page opening back up as we've reached the 5,000 friend limit [my page will stay active]. Free All Spirits has the tag line BRINGING DELIVERENCE TO THE PARANORMAL.  https://www.facebook.com/pages/Free-All-Spirits/117985794884507
The purpose is to bring total deliverance teachings to the paranormal. Also, we'll expose the fakes and the armchair demonologists out there. Because just like fake para-celebrities, there are fake demonologists. There are even some fake para-celebrity demonologists.

Somehow, those in the paranormal field have been duped into believing that they, and not the Church [whether it be Catholic or Protestant], are now the experts in all things demonic.

Let's spell it out clearly:

1The demonic is NOT paranormal.

2 Dark/evil spirits and shadow people are NOT paranormal.

3 Removing the demonic is not a paranormal matter, it's strictly theological.

4 The removal of the demon/s doesn't not end all the problems. It's actually the beginning for the client in their journey to freedom and deliverance. Christian counseling isn't dramatic enough for a DVD on the subject, so the paranormal field ignores it.

I EXPECTED MORE FROM A 'PARANORMAL STATE' INSIDER

I had email contact with a paranormal insider the other day. Who they are isn't important. But what they said, or the lack of what they said, did somewhat shock me. We are very familiar with the limited talking points they give to the faithful in order to respond to our investigations into their deceptions. Yet seeing them word for word was so sad. I know they read this blog so here it goes one last time!

1 - Bad editing

Why is PARANORMAL STATE is the only para-reality show with major editing errors? Watch other para-reality shows and you won't find such issues.

2 - They are on the set for several days and they have to try and fit everything into 22 minutes.

They are on set 3 or [sometimes] 4 days. They aren't there 24 /7. They have a 5-point format they follow.

Point1 - Case briefing

Point 2 - Client meeting and walkthrough

Point 3 - Interviews

Point 4 - Two Dead Times

Point 5 - Final client meeting

Filming these events doesn't take hours and hours, it's just one of those myths they love to spread.

Has anyone from PRS watched The First 48? This is a police reality show seen on A&E, in which two murder cases are featured focusing on two detective teams in two different cities. We watch as they handle the cases and whether they are solved in less than 48 hours. The show is one-hour long. Each set of murders is condensed down to 23 minutes. You never see the editing issues that Paranormal State has. The First 48 is shot in linear fashion, allegedly the same format that Ryan claims his show is shot.

3 - You have something against Ryan, his team, and the para-celebrities featured on it.

Last week I was asked to speak at a para-conference in August [Texas]. I turned them down. It's sad that para-celebs assume that everyone is seeking fame and fortune. Is that all they care about? Do they assume that everyone feels that way?

Dalai Lama Interview on Tolerance

It was one of those few perfect sunshine days when you can smell the summer, flowers, trees and grass, and feel the warm touch of sunlight on your skin with temperatures of 35 degrees Celsius as you expect in India, when His Holiness The XIV Dalai Lama met friends and Tibetans in the park of the Villa Goetzfried in Wiesbaden in Germany.

The introduction was a moving performance by a charming Tibetan woman named Dechen Shak-Dagsay, who is a famous mantra-vocalist from Tibet. Her songs and graceful appearance in original Tibetan dress moved the hearts of the visitors and transported their emotions from Germany to far away Tibet.

Afterwards he arrives. The Dalai Lama welcomes everybody and sits down on a small podium in front of us. There is no distance or aloofness between the Holy Man and the people. You feel his warmth and friendliness directly.

He starts his speech by underlining our own responsibility for our world: “We are the same human beings and share this small blue planet.” Therefore he demands that we forget all differences between religions and nations, find the roots of violence and also decrease the gulf between the poor and the rich. “There is no me and they,” the Dalai Lama said, “the whole world is me.”

In connection with his speech I got the chance for a unique interview with the Dalai Lama about his main ideas: to promote tolerance, learn from different religions and establish close contacts. As The Human Codes of Tolerance and Respect is the most important project of the World Security Network Foundation, I asked him about his experience and proposals.

How can we promote tolerance and respect towards other religions and ethnic minorities, Your Holiness?

I always mention that the concept of one single truth and one religion is itself a contradiction.
But on the level of the individual it is very relevant and can be very helpful. You should keep a single-pointed faith for yourself.
In the reality of different communities and religions with so many people the concept of only one religion is irrelevant.
In reality we have different religions and a concept of one truth seems irrelevant to me.
From the personal point of view everything is relative and one truth for a single person is relevant.
But when you have many people with different values and backgrounds this concept is not convincing as there are many truths and religions – and this is good so.

What can we all as simple human beings do?
We must develop close contacts with others and their traditions.
In India for over 1000 years – besides the home-grown religions – all major religions were established there as well and lived together. Generally they lived together in harmony and friendship for a long time.
One researcher found a Muslim village with a population of 2,000 with only three Hindu families there. But the Hindus had no fear and everybody was very friendly. That is India. Sometimes there are problems as in all populations. That can happen and is understandable.
Basically a spiritual sense of brothers and sisters existed. India kept 1,000 years of religious harmony – why not in other areas in the word?

What can we learn from others?
The more close contacts we have on the personal level the deeper is the understanding and mutual respect. You need close contacts to learn about the values of other religions from each other like Christians, Muslims, Jews, Hindu or Buddhists.
The deep understanding of their values develops a basis of mutual respect.
We Buddhists are eager to learn more about mutual respect and the practice of tolerance and compassion.
Some Christian friends have implemented these things already in their religion.
Thus we develop a spiritual brother-and-sisterhood.
When will the situation in Tibet change for the better?
When Mahatma Gandhi and other great leaders started their work nobody gave them any guarantee of success. But they were very determined and full of will-power whatever the obstacles were.
When my Indian friends started their freedom-fight no one knew when freedom would come – they were determined as well and advised me to follow it.
Nobody knows when things will change but you must keep your determination – that is important.

What impressed me most is that you cannot find intensive missionary thoughts in the Dalai Lama’s speech to conquer people for his Buddhist belief. He is a general missionary for humanity and the good cause of peaceful coexistence, integrating all major religions into global codes of tolerance. For him there is no right or wrong religion.

He stated: “All major religious traditions carry basically the same message: that is love, compassion and forgiveness; the important thing is that they should be part of our daily lives. We can’t say that all religions are the same, different religions have different views and fundamental differences. But it does not matter, as all religions are meant to help in bringing about a better world with better and happier human beings. On this level, I think that through different philosophical explanations and approaches, all religions have the same goal and the same potential.”

For him moral action means not to interfere in the people’s desire for happiness and joy. Everybody must also consider the interests of others. Sensitivity is needed to take care of other people.

He teaches that: “Good fortune arises from spiritual qualities like love or tolerance which make us more happy.”

Also, I like The Dalai Lama’s other ideas:

“Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible.”
“Happiness is not something ready-made. It comes from your own actions.”
“If you can, help others; if you cannot do that, at least do not harm them.”
“If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion.”
“In the practice of tolerance, one’s enemy is the best teacher.”
“It is necessary to help others, not only in our prayers, but in our daily lives. If we find we cannot help others, the least we can do is to desist from harming them.”
“It is very important to generate a good attitude, a good heart, as much as possible. From this, happiness in both the short term and the long term for both yourself and others will come.”
“Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them humanity cannot survive.”
“My religion is very simple. My religion is kindness and my philosophy is kindness. This is my simple religion. There is no need for temples; no need for complicated philosophy. Our own brain, our own heart is our temple.”
“Today, more than ever before, life must be characterized by a sense of universal responsibility, not only nation-to-nation and human-to-human, but also human to other forms of life.”
“With realization of one’s own potential and self-confidence in one’s ability, one can build a better world.”
The Dalai Lama grounds humanity in all of us, in our kindness and responsibility as human beings.

The Exorcist Files: The Best Paranormal Reality Show…So Far

By Kirby Robinson

And it did not make it …

THE EXORCIST FILES was a series that was supposed to air on the Discovery Channel. It featured Catholic demonologist Adam Blai as he investigated cases throughout the US. After viewing the pilot we feel if it hadn't been the bad press the show received prior to airing, perhaps it would have gone on to be the best paranormal reality show. But the overzealous producers claimed that the Vatican was backing the show. The Vatican responded by claiming it never heard of the show, therefore closing the doors on this show way too early.

We would like to give our readers a chance to view the pilot and decide for themselves.

The Paranormal Christian: Paranormal Investigations – A Christian Approach

By Pastor Michael Frisbee, DD/DM

In my past articles, through scriptural application, I have proven there are no human ghosts to find out there.  I have shown that doing EVP sessions in the manner for which the para-reality shows do it and hundreds of teams throughout the world mimick, is no more than a 21st century version of the Ouija Board.

I have shown, again through scriptures, that the real presence out there behind the intelligent haunts that are being experienced is the demonic.  This sounds like I am seeing every case as a demonic case.  I am not.  Well over 85% of investigations of alleged activity can be easily debunked by means of natural explanations.  Of those investigations where natural explanations cannot debunk the activity, well over three-quarters of those prove out to be of the residual variety, energy that was embedded by repetition of activity by a previous resident, or a massive out pouring of energy due to tragedy or intense emotions. Battle ground scenarios, residential homes with long histories, etc.  Some unknown trigger sets the recorded energy into replay mode.  But there is no intelligence behind the haunt.  These are not human ghosts trapped.

The miniscule percentage of remaining investigations, will be one of which an intelligence is behind the alleged activity.  This is when the danger becomes real, for it is not a human ghost as we have shown.  It is a demon, seeking to confuse, to deceive, to draw us in.  They can present themselves as angels and beings of light, or dark, oppressive, gruesome monsters.  They present themselves as little girls that just want to play, or seeking their lost Mommy.  They can pretend to be a guiding spirit to help you unlock the mysteries of life.  They can present themselves as loved ones that have passed on, and tell you secret things that allegedly only they could know.  Remember people, there is no secret in our life that is not wide open and exposed for those in the spiritual realm to see.

A few days ago I was asked, "Pastor, I am a Christian, and I have read what you have written.  I want to help people, and I was wondering, how can I conduct an investigation that doesn’t violate the scriptures?  When is it appropriate for me to do an investigation, especially if human ghosts do not exist?"

To conduct an investigation, on the aspects of, “scientific research to prove the existence of human ghosts” is simply human egotism.  You ignore all that God instructs us to not do and what He informs us of regarding our disposition after death.  Human ghosts do not exist – so why investigate at all?

There is a protocol and a justified reason for doing a Christian, Biblically based investigation.  You are not investigating in this case to prove ghosts exist, but rather to ascertain whether an intelligent presence is at work, a demonic.  The initial procedures are much the same:

1. Interview the clients; get a history from about 3-6 months before the alleged activity began.
2. Try to find any stressors that could be present in the client’s life.
3. Get a breakdown of the alleged activity and the general nature of the activity.
4. Get a medical history, are any of the clients on medication of any kind, or recently had any kind of invasive surgery.
5. Find out if the clients ever had a mental health evaluation done in the last 6-12 months, or if anyone is under the care of a mental health doctor.
6. Is there any history of mental health issues in the family.
7. What is the clients’ religious status, and what are their beliefs.
8. Investigate the background of the property and home.
9. Find out who the previous residents were, interview them.
10. Do a property review and seek out any kind of electrical, plumbing or mechanical explanation of the alleged activity.

Once all of this is done, you can determine if you have simply over imaginative people and explain to them the natural causes for what is being experienced, or if natural explanations do not, recommend an investigation to determine if an intelligent presence is there.

Set up your cameras to record in areas of alleged activity and with each, a digital recorder set to record.  The difference here, YOU WILL NOT instruct any present spirits and so forth to come forward and speak into the red light.  You are not going to sit in groups of two in a dark room and ask inane questions of whatever may be there.

You will however, do a scriptural/Biblical provocation. I only recommend this be done by those who are disciples of Jesus Christ, have been born again and walk in the spirit with Christ.  I recommend two, but three is better.  You will walk around the house, slowly and in lowered voices, pray the Lord’s Prayer, read from Proverbs and Psalms, read of Christ’s ministry, particularly when He excised demons from the afflicted, and read Ephesians 6:10-20.  Keep doing this over and over.  If you have a few or several Christians on your team, do this in shifts with different people.  Your only direct communication with anything there, will be to command it, in the authority of Jesus Christ, to let itself be heard and known.

When it comes to the demonic, hearing God’s Word irritates, causes pain, and creates fear within them.  They cannot but help respond to it.  This is why it is critical non Christians not be present when this type of provocation is done, for they will lash out against those they can easily get to.

When you do your analysis, especially in reviewing the audio, listen carefully to what you do get.  You will not here the usual half spoken, barely uttered meaningless stuff, but clear responses to the scripture being uttered.  If you get this, you know that you do have a presence.  This is now the point the real work begins.  This is where counseling the clients, helping them back on a proper path with Christ, and then helping them to remove the presence from their home.

If a presence is found, a simple house blessing will not remove it.  There will need to be a binding of that presence and casting it out.  Only the Authority of Christ can do that.  Once this has been done and the demonic removed, you can do a blessing and prayer of spiritual canopy.  Help the family find a good Christian, spirit filled church community to attend if they do not have a home church already.  Get them into a habit of reading the Bible daily and praying.

A Christian Paranormal Investigation team is there to bring peace and harmony to a client’s home, and remove the strife caused within it.  The goal is to confirm a true presence, or to negate the fact one exists, and help the clients to come to terms with whichever reality comes to light.

There will not be a live “The Paranormal Christian Radio Show” tomorrow night, since I will be in Orlando, teaching a seminar, “Introduction to Christian Demonology” at the Buena Vista Suites.  The seminar begins at 9 am, registration begins at 8:30 am.  Walk in tickets will be $35 for the seminar.
