Spiritual Warfare with Satan & His Demonic Hoard

By Rev. Mark Hunnemann

If we are in spiritual warfare with Satan and his demonic hoard, then what should our attitude be toward them? The books of Jude and 2 Peter make it clear that disrespect is unacceptable (would someone please inform Zak of this). So, does it then follow that we must treat demons the same way we are to treat our human enemies—that is, to love them? Hardly not But if we can’t love or disrespect them, WHAT is the proper biblical attitude?

What is the purpose of war? Someone has defined war as capital punishment on an international scale. Biblically, it is all about the extension of God’s kingdom, and the minimization of the kingdom of darkness; they are two sides to the same coin. Common sense dictates that if one kingdom is extended, then it does so at the expense of the other. “Your kingdom come…” places kingdom expansion right at the heart of Christian living, and certainly of paramount importance in spiritual warfare. What is the objective of our spiritual warfare? Kingdom expansion! It is simply impossible to exaggerate the importance the New Testament places on the spread of the Kingdom of God/heaven (the terms are theological equivalents).

Holy hatred….that is what I’m convinced is the proper biblical attitude we are to have to the demonic and Satan. “That is pretty strong language there…not sure I buy it.” Okay, I understand your reticence to say you hate anything. Love is such a driving force in the message of Jesus. However, the bible does say, “Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.” (Rom. 12:9) That is not what we refer to as a hapax legomena either…only place where words are found. Get your bible concordance and look up the word “hate”, and you will see what I am talking about. It is not only okay to hate evil; we are commanded to! So, what about the Evil One? He is the epitome of all the evil we are to hate. The fact that they (Satan and demons) are personal beings does not diminish our call to hate them. It is clear that God does….but His hatred is holy. I may lose some readers over this, but I have personal reasons for wrestling with this issue (see below)

Like jealousy and anger, which God displays both, hate is not intrinsically sinful. If you were to visit a prison, many inmates are there because they committed crimes of passion; hate, anger, or jealousy got out of control—which they so easily do in sinful humans. Hence, we automatically assume these emotions are always wrong. But the bible says otherwise. I ask you: did not the Son become the focal point of the Father’s unmitigated fury and holy hatred of sin?. Touching His human nature, God the Son was hated by His Father…how else can you explain the horrible cry of dereliction, “My God, My God  why have you forsaken Me?” (the divine nature could not be separated)..trying hard to avoid heresy at this point

Back to the warfare we mentioned earlier. Demons cannot be killed or annihilated as is sometimes implied, if not outright stated, by some folks. They are spiritual creatures who will live forever in hell. Any demonologist who speaks of vanquishing or destroying demons is biblically ignorant. There is biblical and anecdotal evidence that they can suffer though….sometimes horribly. Prayer and the reading of the bible causes pain to these unholy beings. Let me ask: do you REALLY believe you are in mortal combat with the demonic?  We must be careful to keep first things first—loving God is to be our driving passion. Flowing from that love, comes our hate for Satan and all demons.. It must never become an end in itself

As I was preparing for the cleansing, all of these thoughts were running through my head. I knew that this pure evil hated me and had tried to kill my daughter a few days earlier. I am a broken man whom the Lord has called and anointed to help those suffering from demonic oppression.. My prayer team does the bulk of the work, and I am unworthy ….The zeal of the Lord infuses me as I peek into the attic…”Get out! In the name of Jesus of Nazareth, get out..NOW!. I hate you with a holy hatred, and if you linger I will ask the Father to sling you into the abyss…You have no legal right…the blood Jesus trumps all claims you…” I will stop there. What I do is attack our enemy in the name of Jesus. They hate my dear Jesus…our dear Jesus. That is why we hate Satan and his demons. Do you? Or are you a spiritual pacifist? May the Love of God consume us. Amen

Satan Is Still Alive

By Lisa Grace

Those who read my articles know I’m an unapologetic believer in the Holy Scriptures as the inspired word of God. I include this sentence first for those who don’t know where I’m coming from, especially since the article today deals with Satan and one of his great deceptions and all religions as a whole.

This week I’ve been busy with final edits on the third book in my Angel series Angel in the Ice, Book 3. As anyone who writes or explores the supernatural from a Biblical point of view has learned, many obstacles pop up when anyone dares to shed light on the truth about Satan, the fallen angels, or demonic influences on the modern world.

As part of my research for my books, I read what other authors write about the paranormal in the Holy Scriptures. This week my reading includes a book written back in in 1972 (but I’m reading the updated 1977 version) of Hal Lindsey’s (with C. C. Carlson) Satan Is Alive And Well On Planet Earth.

What I find so fascinating about this book, is how the author is shocked at the abundance of those practicing witchcraft and/or the religion of Wicca. Of course, the numbers are much larger today than in the seventies, and with the help of the Harry Potter Series and other movies, TV shows, and books the movements are much more mainstream. There are covens that approach the whole thing more as honoring the earth and then there are those who go all out with spells, books of shadows, and witchcraft.

Even witchcraft admits there is “good” and “evil”.

The funny thing is, while the whole witchcraft movement has grown, all religions, (not just Christian denominations), are being taught in the public school systems and modernism movements, as “mythology”. Just stories, myths. This watering down of all religion is fine with Satan and his forces. He loves it when so many people don’t believe he exists.

If God is just a myth, people lose their will to love or please God.

It makes it easier to justify “I’m basically a good person” so out the window goes any notion of needing a Savior. You no longer need forgiveness.

Believing evil doesn’t exist, makes it easier for people to deceive themselves. There is no longer any need to resist temptation. “Just do what you want as long as it doesn’t hurt others.”

Unfortunately, this kind of thinking devolves into “just do what you want, you deserve it”. Evil destroys. Any temptation (these are just examples as there are too many to list: pornography or gluttony) destroys those who indulge and creates victims. This is exactly where Satan wants you, destroying yourself, your relationships, and creating victims.

Satan is ecstatic that so many humans can no longer recognize evil or how it works. How can you resist what you deny exists?

He’s even happier when people experience evil desires and they realize they have no where to turn for help. You can’t rid yourself of demonic influences if you don’t believe they exist.

You may not believe in Satan, but rest assured, he’s still alive and he believes in you.

The Paranormal Christian – Spiritual Doors of Our Mind

By Pastor Michael Frisbee, DD/DM

Many people assume that you have to participate in a physical action of some kind, like a séance or Ouija board session, to open a doorway or portal into ourselves for the demonic to come through.  The truth is that people can create doorways by just their thoughts, or through reading or watching materials involving the paranormal.  This usually occurs when a stressor happens in one’s life, weakening the person’s resolve or character.  The Enemy, Satan, and his demonic minions will use that weakness to set a trap and the person will agree to the bait.  The thought and then action to follow seems harmless enough.  Sneaking a look at those porn pictures that popped up in an innocent web search, reading occult material about wiccan spellcraft, etc.  The enemy can disguise itself as a guardian angel or spirit guide, deceiving people easily since they are fallen angels and can appear as “angels of light”.  Before people realize it, the demonic has access to into their lives.

2 Corinthians 11:14, "And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light."

It is critically important to understand how the enemy works, so that we can prepare and arm ourselves to stand against demonic schemes. Paul said that they were not ignorant of Satan's mechanisms - this is something that many churches today cannot claim:

2 Corinthians 2:11, "Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices."

What I have discovered regarding demonic spirits is that they always present some kind of “golden prize” to get someone to allow access into their lives.  These can come in the form of specialized knowledge (mind control, divination), supernatural powers, healing (through New Age or occult powers), or even a forbidden sexual pleasure.  Our Lord, Jesus Christ, warned us that even evil thoughts can ruin us, leave us vulnerable to spiritual infestation:

Matthew 15:19-20, "For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies: These are the things which defile a man..."

When demonic spirits gain access to our spirits, they have access to our emotions, our thinking, our will.  Here is a list of the more prevalent demonic spirit types and how they make themselves “appealing”:

New Age Spirits (Yoga, Reiki, etc) - Energy healing along with increased mental and physical health are offered to you, when in reality it's only bait to land you in bondage. Again, when you partake in these practices, or seek energy healing, you open yourself up to these demonics.

Sexual Perversion Spirits – You are enticed into the world of forbidden pleasure. If you begin to indulge in these pleasures, you give notice to the demonic realm that it's okay to feed you more pleasure in that area of life. Once the demonic spirit of lust or sexual perversion takes control, it becomes an obsession, even an addiction.  It then becomes very difficult to resist the strong pull that this demonic has you.

Rebellious Spirits - This demonic seems to take your side and whisper to you, "You need to stand up for your rights…I’ll do that FOR YOU!" This demonic is looking for you to say, "Yes, I need you to do that!"

Divination Spirits (fortune telling/) – This demonic gives you supernatural secrets into the future that others do not have access to. The truth is, only God knows the future, not even Satan has this power.  The demonic can only manipulate others to force the prophecy to come about, but it will never be quite as spoken.  Only God’s prophecies come to bear in perfection. If you begin to seek this sort of power, they are letting the demons know that they are welcome.

It drives me crazy when I see Christian parents that willingly and openly allow their kids to get all caught up reading and watching the Harry Potter books and movies.  This opens the children up to occult spirits, letting these spirits know that they are interested in what the occult has to offer.  It gives them LEGAL RIGHT to move in on the child and I have been witness to the destruction it can bring, just not in the child’s life, but the family overall.  Horror movies, vampire movies, demonic movies, television shows, etc – all these things, all these media, Satan has come to use effectively to gain access to us.

Automatic Writing - This demonic offers gorgeous 'out of this realm' writings you wouldn't otherwise be able to produce. Let us never forget that demonic power is very expensive and lands you in bondage. When you seek this forbidden ability, you open yourself for the demonic to enter.

Occult Spirits - The lure of supernatural power and knowledge of the unknown. When you seek such occult power and knowledge, you open yourself to these demonics.

Bondage Spirits - You may think it's best to make/take a vow, in order to help you stay motivated to do or not do something, however, the Bible is clear that oaths can bind the soul (see Numbers 30), and it's not uncommon to find situations where someone has demonic spirits that entered in through vows that were made in the past. Rash vows can be forgiven (Leviticus 5:4-11), and must be renounced verbally. I also recommend verbally breaking the vow in Jesus' name and declaring it void by the power of the Blood of Jesus.

Addiction Spirits – This demonic often promises an escape from the reality while trying to cope with your life. When you turn to escapism, it can open you up to addictions that grow into a bondage and it seems nearly impossible to break free (without deliverance that is).

Witchcraft & Warlock Spirits – This demonic offers supernatural power to 'gain revenge' againstsomeone that has harmed you. This can be very appealing to somebody who has been rejected or hurt in this world. When you begin placing curses or seeking to learn about witchcraft, or even seek to have a witch place a curse for you, it allows the demonic entry into your life. God's Word tells us not even to seek somebody with occult power, lest we become defiled ourselves:

Leviticus 19:31, "Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD your God."

When we ignore the Word of God, turn a blind eye to it because it becomes unpopular or problematic to follow it, we fall away from God’s protection and grace.  We begin to fall prey to our fractured and sinful nature of our flesh, and it overwhelms the spirit within us, and we start having a hard time hearing the Holy Spirit speaking to us.  When this happens, we open ourselves up to the demonic, and soon we start finding our lives spinning out of control.  We have to keep our focus on God, continuously read His inerrant Word, and faithfully grow our relationship with Christ through daily prayer.  Only in Christ can we live demonic-free!

Tomorrow night on The Paranormal Christian, Rev. Hunnemann and I will discuss his recent article regarding residual hauntings and the truth behind these through the Bible, the failures in the current theories on residual hauntings, and how you can definitely debunk a residual haunting in a biblical manner.  Listen in tomorrow night, Sat 2/18, at 7 pm EST http://www.theparanormalchristian.com
