Psychic Kids: Children of the Paranormal: Fact or Fake? Pt. 2

An issue that has been raised by some as to the after care for the kids, apparently it was nonexistent. If we use Coffey's statements that he and a few others are the only ones doing this, then where do the parents have to turn for help? (Let us also not forget the thousands of families that tried to get on the show. What happened to those kids?) Coffey stated on the internet radio program, Paradacity, that he never signed up to mentor the kids after filming ended. Such a statement can be interpreted to mean "I do not work with kids unless I'm paid!"

He proceeds to give us definitions of the different types of psychic gifts -- but who decided on these? Is there an organization of psychics, or an I.P.A. (International Psychic Association) that meets every year and votes on these topics? Or is this more new age dogma being spread?

One of the most troubling terms is this so-called Forensic Psychic that helps police solve crimes. Incidentally, no claim made by any psychic has ever helped the police solve any crime. Yet the most troubling claim in this matter is made by   Coffey when he states that the police should keep this from a defense lawyer if the matter goes to court. Coffey does not comprehend that a defendant is innocent until proven guilty in America. A defendant has the right to see any and all evidence presented against them. Their lawyer has a right to know how all evidence was gathered against them. They have the right to put on the witness stand anyone involved in the collection of evidence. This is done to establish such things as legal search, probable cause, and a chain of custody of such evidence would be a slippery slope if putting people on trial and keeping it from them that "psychic feelings" were being used in the investigative process.

The following link will take you to a webpage featured on the A&E website for the show and list the credentials for the so called experts featured on Psychic Kids: Children of the Paranormal.

Take your time reading them, and then ask yourself what is missing?

1. None of them have any formal training in working with psychic children. This stems from the fact that there are no tests that you can give to determine if a person is psychic or not. They practice pseudo science, or to coin a term from the Casey Anthony case: bad science.

2. Only one has graduate work. Chris Fleming has a Fine Arts degree. Coffey claims to possess a B.A. degree in psychology from Elmira College in New York. Kim Russo lists no higher education.

3. Deeper research into their respective websites show that they use their work in the show in order to bring in new business.

To conclude our look into the early part of the book, we need to take a look at a bit of Coffey's creative storytelling. The blog, Eye on the Paranormal, focuses on asking questions about subjects that many paranormal celebrities would prefer not to be asked. Blog owner Robinson has asked many times just what makes Coffey a psychic? Robinson decided to test Coffey by claiming he bought tickets for an event, when in fact, Robinson did not. (This is not the way I would have done it, but it is not my blog). If you would like to read more here is a link to it: http://eyeontheparanormal.blogspot.com/2011/03/issue-22-psychicmedium-chip-coffey.html

Observe the events shared in it are not the way Coffey shared them. Nor was it proper for Coffey to use quotes, as that is not what he said. Quotes are to be used only when you are repeating something verbatim in writing. And Coffey goes on to say well (note no quotes here) psychics cannot know everything. To do so would make you Godlike. This is often the way psychics deflect those who have doubts. I cannot know everything. We have to ask what do you know? And if your "gift" is so unreliable then why should anyone rely on it? Lastly, he makes two claims against Robinson: one that he is skeptic, which he is not, and secondly, if he attended the event he would disrupt it. Now how would Coffey know that? Oh, yes he is psychic.

As we are done with the first part of Coffey’s book we will move through the rest chapter by chapter taking a look at what he says what he does not say and we decide if there is any truth to what he says

Some chapters will be presented with the topics and descriptions listed in bullet points, while others will be written in a narrative style.

CHAPTER 2 - SO YOU THINK YOUR CHILD IS PSYCHIC

- We are never informed by those involved with the show how it was determined if these kids are psychic. Did they simply ask, "Are you psychic?" and accept a yes response as proof? There is no, and let me repeat, absolutely no test that is recognized by any professional organization to determine if an individual is psychic. How did a TV show do what science cannot?

- One of the themes you will notice is that the majority of these children come from broken homes; others come from very troubled backgrounds. Is this a cry for recognition by either the child or the parent?

- Olivia K's mom is from California, one of the hotbeds of the new age movement. In order to get help she has to turn to a TV show to receive it? Or could it be someone was looking to break into reality TV?

- As most, if not all, reality shows are scripted, how do we know that Olivia K was not fed information? And while on the subject, how many of these so-called psychic kids were determined to not be psychic once on the show? It is difficult to accept that one-hundred percent of the children featured on the show were actually psychic. I'll add that this is, in fact, my opinion.

- Being the author of several thriller novels, character development means that each of my characters have their own voice. Both letters from the child and the parent read as if the same person wrote them. An old writer's trick is to read both passages out loud and determine if you hear the same narrative flow.

- They also use the phrase: "No fear! No doubt!" which Coffey coined.

- My background in law enforcement encompasses a total of twenty-plus years. In those years I have learned to read suspects. An innocent person will never try to oversell their innocence during an interrogation. On the other hand, a person who is guilty will really oversell their claims of innocence. In this book, I find both parent and child, in all these so-called personal testimonies, make every effort to sell their experiences on the show as being nothing less than life-altering.

- We are introduced to Charlotte Scott a so-called light worker who manages energy flow through people as her special talent. She changed a child's life but we have to ask, and will do so throughout this book, where did she get her training? Is she licensed by the state to do this work? It seems that the Coffey blindly accepts being a light worker /psychic as being skilled to help kids in any way.

- Coffey claims that God gives people psychic gifts. Most, if not all, mainstream religious groups would reject that outright. Again we are not offered any proof from the bible or the origins of this thinking.

Edy Nathan is a therapist that appeared on the second two seasons of the show. She is a firm follower of Carl Jung, who for a period of time worked with Freud, and is called the father of the new age. But what this book does not tell you is that none of his theories have ever been proven scientifically to be true. If you Google her you will see that "Psychic Kids: Children of the Paranormal" is her claim to fame.

- The story of a child by the name of Cheryl is shared by her mother who took the girl to a psychologist who labeled her schizophrenic. This is due to seeing a ghost in the bedroom. Of course Coffey saves the day telling the mom that her child is psychic and it is presented to the reader how shocking this is and that it happens every day.

- What the reader is not told is that a mental health worker must follow strict guidelines when giving a diagnosis, especially for a severe disorder like schizophrenia. You do not walk into a mental health worker's office and say I see things that others do not see, and the doctor will automatically give you/your child such a diagnosis. There is a path that must be followed as determined by the American Psychiatric Association (A.P.A.). A mental health worker must follow the DSM 4r guidelines, and a patient must meet a set number of primary and secondary characteristics prior to being labeled schizophrenic.

- Coffey rattles off tales he claims are true but we have no way of checking them out as proof of paranormal and reincarnation. Let us examine them.

- Coffey writes of a woman who comes out of an operation speaking with an Irish accent and she is has "Foreign Accent Syndrome" as he postulates. I recall seeing Madonna interviewed several years ago after moving to England. In two short weeks she had a fluent accent. And as I recall during my years in New York City working alongside the NYPD; I would encounter non-New Yorkers who were visiting the city and had a hint of Brooklyn or Staten Island accents in their speech.

- An older woman comes out of a coma and speaks French but she cannot speak it in her everyday life. Was it really French or something that sounded French? (Often we hear and see what we want to.) Then she went back to speaking English. Did she ever speak French again? We are never told. Modern science is making leaps and bounds in how recall and memory works, and it is not paranormal or psychic every time something out of the ordinary happens.

- A Hindu child recalls a past life and the family returns to India and everything is right on about his story, so that is proof of reincarnation. That is incorrect. What it says is that within the Hindu religion, they will pay great respect to a family that has a possible guru. Emotional support and money will flow their way.

- It is interesting and troublesome that he expresses support for both reincarnation and mainstream Christianity, as the two are not compatible. In the Christian religion, we have one life as Jesus Christ died to pay the price for our sins and we go to heaven or hell in the end. I do not recall Christ said I died for your sins in this life and the lives you keep living until you get it right.

- Coffey offers us part Christianity, part new age nonsense and part make-it-up-as-you-go-along.

- For the last several pages of this chapter we are offered only opinions, conjecture and invalidated cases. The anecdotes and/or personal experience make easy reading, but for anyone involved in scientific research, they are not accepted in a serious manner.

- Coffey's sampling group of fewer than one hundred kids is way too small to build any serious research conclusions. What about psychic kids from other nations? Or psychic kids in various age groups? These topics are not examined.

- Lastly, if you have kept reading the stories from the parents and the children they are structured in the exact same manner and read identically. If you had the names removed from the letters, you would be unable to tell them apart.

CHAPTER 3 - CONTROLLING AND MANAGING PSYCHIC GIFTS

This chapter begins with a very overblown story concerning Coffey's own abilities. How do we know is it true? It seems like his stories are placed in this book to promote his readings and get new clients. Remember this book is about working with psychic kids.

- Coffey dives into the matter of disclaimers which is a peculiar subject. Is he implying that psychic kids should start giving readings for a fee? According to my research, many have. One gives readings in a bowling alley. Another has a website so they can do readings by phone. One child's mom acts as their agent. But what Coffey never deals with is the fact that giving psychic readings for a fee is illegal in many areas. In order to sidestep this issue many psychics try to use the freedom of religion card by tacking on "spiritual counselor" to their business masthead.

Coffey offers his own disclaimer and gives a weak explanation as to why psychics use the "For Entertainment Purposes Only" disclaimer. He also tries to link his work to that of a stock broker. How are they the same?

A. Stockbrokers are licensed. Psychics are not.

B. If stockbrokers engage in unscrupulous behavior they can have their license taken away and be sentenced to stiff fines and/or jail time. If a psychic engages in unethical behavior, such as lying about being psychic, nothing can be done to them as they claim it is "For Entertainment Purposes Only".  The only action that a victim of less than honest psychic has is the option to pursue criminal fraud charges.

C. When seeking investment advice, the stock broker uses charts, cycles, mathematical skills and even current trends to help you. When you go to a psychic they use educated guesses and just pull things off the top of their head.

So in reality they are not alike.

Is Coffey suggesting that all forms of employment should come with disclaimers?

Doctor

I am only human you may die from my care.

Taxi Driver

My skills at operating a motorized vehicle may not protect you from losing life and limb while in my taxi.

Driver Thru order taker

English might be my second language so your order will be incorrect

Let us take it further. What about those mentioned in the bible?

Noah

Enter this ark at your own risk. I am not a ship builder by trade.

Moses

Follow me at your own risk as I might get lost.

End of Part 2, Here is Part 3.

Happy Thanksgiving and Some Thoughts on the Supernatural

Both Kirby Robinson and Lisa Maliga were away from the Eye on the Paranormal on Thursday. We missed this wonderful post from Lisa Grace and we felt a need to share it with our readers. It's never too late as every day should be Thanksgiving.

By Lisa Grace

I’m thankful for my Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ, King of the Universe. I pray he brings peace to Israel. I’m also thankful for the glimpses He gives of us of the supernatural through the beings He threw out of Heaven and condemned to roam the Earth until His return.

Even though there is misinformation regarding exactly what we are experiencing, we have an opportunity to explain.

There are three major groups: Angels, demons, and what some call “ghosts”, which if you think of them more as an “energy” photograph or video (not the actual person anymore than a video is an actual person) you’re on the correct interpretation according to the Holy Scriptures.

Evil angels, demons (disembodied type of evil angels, there are several types of angels) and the “ghost energies,” all attract more. Since the evil angels are condemned to roam the Earth, they do. They group together in places they are called, welcomed, or have weak humans that won’t or do not know how to kick them out.

Public places that depend on “ghost tourism” have no desire to rid themselves of the energies, or demons.

Objects, people, and places can all have these entities and energies attach to them.

We can’t destroy the demons and/or evil angels permanently, but they can be bound or driven away. However this can only be done by believers, the affected must be a believer in Jesus as Savior or the entity can eventually return with even more to fight back.

Stirring up these entities appears to make them stronger. They seem to be able to feed on our energy or emotions.

Unfortunately, I could write a full report on each of these paragraphs giving Scriptural and real life proofs, but I don’t have the time today.

Have a blessed Thanksgiving and thanks for reading.

Psychic Kids: Children of the Paranormal: Fact or Fake? Pt. 1

By C.C. Starbuck

"Rather than love, than money, than fame, give me truth. I sat at a table where were rich food and wine in abundance, an obsequious attendance, but sincerity and truth were not; and I went away hungry from the inhospitable board. The hospitality was as cold as the ices."
Walden by Henry David Thoreau

INTRODUCTION

This is a response to the book, "Growing Up Psychic: My Story of Not Just Surviving but Thriving--and How Others Like Me Can, Too" by Chip Coffey.

Chip Coffey is self-proclaimed psychic medium. (I have not been able to verify what predictions he has made that have come to fruition, nor have I uncovered his accuracy rate). Coffey has appeared on three rather controversial reality shows "Paranormal State" (30 episodes), "Paranormal State: The New Class" (one episode), and "Psychic Kids: Children of the Paranormal" (16 episodes). Additional credits include "Celebrity Ghost Hunt" and a non-paranormal show entitled "Airline".

He works as a phone psychic as well as a paranormal investigator and is one of a handful of people (reportedly only 25 in the world) who are trained to operate a device known as the Telephone to the Dead. The creator, Christopher Moon, claims that people can talk to the dead and they will answer you.

Coffey has also traveled from sea to shining sea and Canada performing a one-man show called Coffey Talk. Here he spends the first part telling you his life story and his views on the paranormal and he gives the audience five-minute solutions to issues raised in pop psychology. The other part is a "gallery reading" followed by a question and answer session. For additional money, you can have your photo taken with him. If you purchase a "Super VIP" ticket then you will get the privilege of running around a room chasing ghosts. Moreover, not to let any fans of the psychic-medium down, you can buy Coffey mugs, tee shirts and learn how to book a personal reading for a few hundred dollars.

To say that I am a skeptic would be true, but I am an open-minded skeptic; one that investigates claims. If I discover they are legitimate, then I am open to endorsing said claims.

When reading Coffey's book, it occurred to me that the title should have been "GROWING UP ME: MY STORY OF NOT JUST SURVIVING BUT THRIVING--AND HOW OTHERS LIKE ME CAN, TOO". This book has less to do with being a psychic and more to do with Coffey's spin on his life and views. It seems that Coffey's book is about tooting his own horn and convincing the public to line up for readings, watch any TV shows he might be on, and attend events that he might host.

It is acceptable for Coffey to state his opinions as long as he makes it clear that they are his opinions and not fact. And it would be of help to the reader to know what the factual basis is for those opinions might be.

As to the section that deals with his years growing up, I cannot challenge any of this due to the fact that I was not there. So we have to accept at face value such claims he makes. The one and only issue that can be raised concerns his relative by the name of Minnie Sue Morrow Foster. In blogs and interviews I have looked at he claims that she was his great-grandmother, a full blood native who was a shaman/medicine woman. (It is odd this claim is made, as more often than not a person is either a shaman or a medicine person and not both.) Coffey has claimed in the past that she was well known and greatly respected. Yet if one does an Internet search on her, you will find nothing but one blog that was posted after various websites had raised their own issues concerning his allegations. A blog was posted by a fan of Chip Coffey's, claiming that he was telling the truth, yet no solid proof was offered.

Since no record of her actually exists as we get no place of birth nor do we know where she resided, other than in the Southeastern United States, we are left to contemplate her name. Is she named after Minniehaha, the wife of Hiawatha from the episodic poem, "The Song of Hiawatha" by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow?

Claims of Native American blood relatives are often made by people who contend they possess psychic abilities. It is done to maintain the myth that just by being a Native American you are more spiritual than others.

Going from Minnie Sue Morrow Foster to a great-grandmother with no name in his book is puzzling. Why is this? Is it possible that more people will read this claim and began to uncover something he would prefer to keep out of the limelight?

Two books by authors Kirby Robinson and Lisa Maliga, "Investigating Paranormal State" and "Paranormal State Exposed", delve into debunking a paranormal reality television show that co-starred Coffey. The authors point out that the story concerning how Chip Coffey got his spot on "Paranormal State" has five different versions.  I will not rehash them as you can read their books to learn the whole story. However, if we believe Coffey's version of the events, then the powers-that-be behind the show have been less than honest. Watch "The Name" episode of the program, as this is Coffey's first appearance on the show. Ryan Buell, the lead paranormal investigator and founder of PRS, is not mentioned by name in Coffey's book. (With the exception of being listed in the Acknowledgements section). If it was not for that show and its host, I doubt whether Coffey would have been given the opportunity to star in "Psychic Kids: Children of the Paranormal", nor would he have published his book. In the first episode, Ryan does a voiceover stating that he is bringing in psychic medium Chip Coffey, a longtime contributor/adviser, into the case. Coffey states it was just a job, so we have to ask the question: which story is true?

It also seems that Coffey's substantial ego might be driving the narrative in select sections of his book, particularly when he begins to address his role in the show "Psychic Kids: Children of the Paranormal". Let me note here that from a psychological, medical, and professional viewpoint, I will address the ego aspects later in the book. Coffey says that others were brought in to work beside him. This would  mean, that in his mind, as he wrote this (personally, I get the feeling from reading this book, that it was initially spoken into a tape recorder, and subsequently transcribed onto a word processing program), that HE was the core of the show. Everyone else, even the mental health experts, was there to back him up. At this point I have to ask what type of training did Coffey have to enable him to work with psychic kids? Is the fact that he claims to be a psychic give him the ability to work with these kids?

But it does not end with Coffey's ego. Dr. Raymond Moody writes the book's foreword. For those who want to cut through his love for the new age spin, he along with others in their work in N.D.E. (Near Death Experiences), withheld any N.D.E. that dealt with going to hell or any other non-bright light experiences, in order to slant the research.

He claims that an adopted child had an experience in which he shared links to his past life. This does not make you a gifted psychic what the child was recalling was just past life memories carried over from a past life. No new research has been going on regarding this matter for some time.

We also have to take issue with the account of Elvis Presley's death (the person doing the fact checking on Coffey's book must have missed work that day), as   Coffey states that Presley died from a drug overdose.

The coroner's report states that it was the following:

"Elvis's family agreed to an autopsy, and it was performed at Baptist Memorial Hospital. Dr. Jerry Francisco, the medical examiner that signed the death certificate, announced that the preliminary autopsy findings discovered cardiac arrhythmia, or an irregular and ineffective heart beat. Elvis died of natural causes, heart. He also said that, 'there was no indication of any drug abuse of any kind.'"
Furthermore, the autopsy was reopened in 1994 and the coroner, Dr. Joseph Davis, reports that Elvis's death was "a sudden, violent heart attack."

We can logically analyze his mother Carolyn's dream concerning the interaction with Elvis's mother, Gladys. But that does not prove his mother is psychic.

By 1974 it was apparent that Elvis's life was spiraling out of control, so it was common knowledge. Carolyn was a fan of Elvis and also had a son. She dreamed about the concern Elvis's mom had and her love for Elvis led her to want to save him. Not psychic at all, basic dream interpretation.

Coffey mentions an episode called "Vegas" in the first season of "Paranormal State". His presentation of events does not match what has been uncovered in the work by Robinson/Maliga. I would like to share with you their report on the events surrounding that episode as shared the book, "Paranormal State Exposed".

We meet single mother Stephanie and her 14-year-old daughter, Savannah. The teen claims she’s seeing a dead girl’s spirit and is troubled by it.

The team of PRS investigators arrive at the home.

Savannah claims she wants to know what happened to the girl, Emily, and how it happened. The picture she draws is a very nondescript drawing that could easily match many females. In addition, both mother and daughter describe “evil looking spirits” yet none of this is ever shown. Emily, the spirit girl, has brown hair which is one of the most dominant hair colors.

DVD TIMELINE 3:55 mark – Ryan's voice-over added in post production.

To our surprise, PRS finds Emily just as Emily was found by Savannah on the Internet prior to the team’s arrival. All details that Savannah gives the team were on the web, including the pregnancy issue.

When they show Savannah the photo, they don’t do it line-up style, which would have been a way to test her psychic abilities. Ryan sends Katrina down to San Antonio, TX to investigate the case there while Ryan has a parapsychologist, George Dalzell, come in and interview Savannah. When the parapsychologist asks for a reading the only thing she can bring up is California and Los Angeles. Nothing else comes from her about him. Is that a great sign of psychic ability? She almost has the type of reaction that a person has when they make a guess and it’s correct. It’s interesting that no one on the team, including the parapsychologist, ever sets up any kind of testing to see if she has a measurable gift.

Meanwhile, Katrina starts her investigation down in San Antonio. She gets a phone call from Ryan and there’s "creative" editing here: daylight, nighttime, daylight again, as she drives to meet the family of the deceased girl.

An interesting note here is when Katrina meets the family for the first time after one phone call she says: “It’s nice to finally meet you.” That’s a phrase that is used if you’ve been contacting someone for quite some time without a face-to-face meeting. Not one that you use only after just one phone call with a person, which was earlier that day.

Chip Coffey shows up and of course he ends up in Savannah’s bedroom, which is something that he does quite regularly throughout the episodes. He comes up with the statement: “The person just can’t quite get it together.” Which describes how many teenagers? Then suddenly he wants to shake the bed. How many times have you ever walked by a bunk bed and shook it a little?

Please note two things here. 1 Ryan and Chip are talking on Day 2 and Ryan says, “I think we told you she was assaulted.” Does this give one the idea that the psychics and mediums brought onto the show are informed of certain details about the case? 2 During the team regroup at 9:22 AM concerning information Savannah has about the cases, Ryan says, "But I don't know if she's given us anything that wasn't reported in the papers." Did Ryan know about the murder case prior to his arrival? Did he know who Emily was?

Then we have a special effects trick editing creepy music scene concerning Savannah – but nothing happens.

Remember as the hours tick by in this episode that Katrina is still meeting with the family down in San Antonio.

Chip confronts Savannah and asks her if she’s telling the truth. Yes, she says, so Chip and Ryan accept it to be 100 percent valid. In addition, if you notice the scenes with Chip and Ryan in the kitchen, those scenes apparently were shot at the same time due to having exactly the same lighting.

Don’t forget that it’s been about 24 hours since Katrina started her meeting with the family down in Texas.

They have the deadest Dead Time of the series by far. And Emily produces very little of any type of action only contacting, supposedly, Savannah. Emily says, “She misses mom and dad.” Nothing about the loss of the baby or the murder. Chip asks for a sign and then the phone rings. Guess what? It’s Katrina who has just left the family in San Antonio, which means that her meeting with them not only lasted for 36 hours, but the meeting broke up sometime after three in the morning.

Ready for some facts? Here's a website that featured information on the murder: http://theresayeary.tripod.com/
Both mom and daughter visited this site prior to the start of the filming. What proof? How about an email sent to the dead girl's family on January 22, 2007.

"My daughter has had a problem for a few years now that we have privately tried to handle as a family. she sees things, people that others don't see. if you knew her you would understand that it is not in her nature to tell "stories". I support her in this problem she has and try to help her make it go away. She has been in constant fear of those people that she sees but there is one girl that she sees that she is not terrified of. I told her that maybe she should try talking to her and so she did.

"She asked the girls name and age. Her name is Emily and she is 15 years old. Once she told me that she got information from this girl I told her to keep probing. I thought I could help my daughter more if I had the information to work with.

"Last night Emily answered more questions and told my daughter a little about herself. You see, about a year and a half ago my daughter was raped and she doesn't talk about it much because it is hard for people to relate to her. She shared this with Emily who said she was also raped and she knows how awful it feels. She also said she is from Texas and she really loves her Mom and Dad. She said her last name is Garcia. She said she doesn't like her Uncle. My daughter told her that she feels like a screw up sometimes. Emily said she went to Juvee. She said that she has messed up too. She has given no more information than this.

"I asked what she looks like and my daughter said she is wearing a white shirt and pants. She has long brown hair with bangs. She said the bangs are kind of separated in the middle. She also has terrible burising on her throat.

"I decided to put Emily Garcia/ Texas in Google and your site popped up. We were absolutely stunned. I know that this sounds crazy. I think it is crazy. I also think that if it were my daughter I would want to know who did such a terrible thing and that she was ok.

"I decided that I should let you know. I am sorry if my doing this causes you any pain. I want to help if I can. I told my daughter to get a notepad next time and flood her with questions. I don't know if this will work. She says Emily is a yes or no question kind of girl who has no problem letting her know she is getting on her nerves.

"If you would like to e mail me back that’s fine. I am not a quack or crazy person looking to exploit you. I will do what I can. I also have to protect my daughter as well.

"My heart goes out to you and your family.

"I will let you know if any more information about this girl Emily comes out.

God Bless,
Stephanie"

So, was there was ever any mystery over the identity of the dead girl?

The library scene was not filmed in Vegas but at one of the libraries located at Penn State. The scene when Katrina first meets the family was reportedly taken from “A School House Haunting" which is episode 12.

But the most important question doesn't get asked – Who killed Emily? Wouldn't that be solid proof that the dead visit the living if we got that answer? Wouldn't it bring peace to Emily's family? Yes.

Without the imperative question being asked, we are left with the need to ask the question. So what are we left with? Another mother and daughter seeking publicity?

We see that Savannah was not getting the information from "out there" but from the Internet. In a recurring theme that crops up when it comes to murder crimes, the name of the killer is never sought. They never ask why the crime was committed. Nor do they share information with the police.

Delving further into the psychic child debate, I find it interesting that one of the success stories Coffey shares is a brother and sister team who claim to be doing well according to their mother. Yet no mention is made of their psychic gifts. What we do see are two siblings who enjoy being the center of attention. One is doing standup comedy and taking part in media studies, and the other is involved in the art of dance. So it is not a hard logical step to think their desire to be featured on the show was really a desire to develop their gifts? Or was it an avenue in garnering media exposure?

Coffey appears to have missed his calling as a child psychologist/counselor/therapist as he details his work with these kids. Incidentally, the number of children who have appeared on the shower is fewer than one hundred. This is a poor sampling to base anything on when it comes to psychological research. Even more suspect is the time period that is covered. In only three days (minus the hours allowed for sleep and breaks for the crew when not filming), that Coffey and his team (we will take a look at in a few pages) have all their issues swept away and the kids are ready to move on with their lives.

Here is Part 2 .

Issue 95 – The December 21, 2012 Countdown Begins

By Kirby Robinson

Michael Frisbee’s The Paranormal Christian Radio Show – Saturday, 12/8

This might be the most controversial radio show about the paranormal you’ll ever hear as the topics that will be covered are ones that no one else will discuss.

We have sent an open letter to Chip Coffey, Ryan Buell and Lara M to appear on the show to take part in the discussion. As I stated in the letter, if all of my concerns that appear in the book Never Mock God: An Unauthorized Investigation into Paranormal State’s ‘I Am Six’ Case, the book will be unpublished and a public apology will be issued.

December 2, 2012: The Countdown Begins

We are in the final days of the madness over 12/21/21 and it can’t come too soon. I have publicly stated over and over that:

1 The world will not end on that day or on any day anytime soon. If you’re a Christian you know that there is a clear blueprint for the events leading up to and including the End Times and Christ’s return to begin his 1,000-year-long reign.

2 There won’t be any huge shift in collective human consciousness as some fake new agers are teaching. Peace will not engulf the planet, and poverty and hunger will not end. Sadly, due to the war of angels and the fall of Adam/ this is impossible until the return of Christ.

3 Christ will not be returning that day.

What so many false teachers both within the Christian and new age realms fail to realize is that GOD LAID OUT THE PLANS FOR THE END TIMES thousands and thousands of years ago.

People often bring up the issue that the Bible states that once Israel becomes a nation again that not one generation will pass before Christ returns. Note: we are approaching the 70-year mark—which is more than one generation.

My response is always this:

Look at a map of Israel in her glory days and then look at a map of Israel today. It’s a mere shadow of what she was in those days. When God decides to create or recreate something, does he go for the stripped down model or the deluxe model? In my opinion, when you see Israel state the way she was  with no West Bank or Gaza City and a whole city of Jerusalem with a Temple Mount free of any other religions temples on her, then the clock will start ticking.

My greatest fear is that the forces behind the 12/21/12 hoax, the masters of lies and deceptions main focus is to discourage faith. What will be the common cry on 12/22/12?

“I wasted all my time and money on those DVDs and books and for what? Nothing. We can’t trust anyone when they come talking about the End Times.”

It was not the hand of God that created that calendar--it was the lesser gods and the prince of demons who knew just what man would do. They knew that false teachers would milk this for all it’s worth.

A few years ago, I asked the question what would these false teachers do on 12/22?

Would they refund all the money they made on the false event teachings? Will they apologize for being wrong?

Or would they begin work on the next day for the world to end? Will they be overshadowed by the appearance of the Antichrist and his two buddies the false prophet and the beast?

Prior to any countdown to the end of the world can start there must be the Antichrist in a position of power. No our current President is not the Antichrist.

The moment you bring up the subject of the Antichrist you’re bombarded by the wacky new world disorder people, and those who have read and reread the Left Behind series. http://www.amazon.com/Left-Behind-Collection-Boxed-Volumes/dp/0842342524/ 1-5 in a boxed set to get you started. So many times, they forget that it’s a work of fiction by many different writers. If you have had a chance to read the series [I have] they are done by more than the two credited writers, which is not that uncommon. In addition, not everyone agrees with their take on the events of the End Times, but that is their perspective and they have a right to it. However, if you do read one or more of the books, please keep in mind that it is simply the authors’ perspective.

The new world order /disorder claim that the Antichrist will lead the next new world order. It’s also called the Fourth Reich, as it’s what the Antichrist represents. Those people fail to realize that as bad as Hitler, Mao, Stalin, Hussein, Pol Pot, the North Korean leaders, etc., rolled into one would be the Antichrist  No, it’s actually 100 times worse. Because the Antichrist needs no help as everything he will do and become will be aided by more demons than you can ever imagine.

The Medicine of Altruism

By The Dalai Lama

In Tibet we say that many illness can be cured by the one medicine of love and compassion. These qualities are the ultimate source of human happiness, and need for them lies at the very core of our being. Unfortunately, love and compassion have been omitted from too many spheres of social interaction for too long. Usually confined to family and home, their practice in public life is considered impractical, even naive. This is tragic. In my view point, the practice of compassion is not just a symptom of unrealistic idealism but the most effective way to pursue the best interest of others as well as our own. The more we- as a nation, a group or as individuals - depend upon others, the more it is in our own best interests to ensure their well-being.

Practicing altruism is the real source of compromise and cooperation; merely recognizing our need for harmony is not enough. A mind committed to compassion is like an overflowing reservoir - a constant source of energy, determination and kindness. This is like a seed; when cultivated, gives rise to many other good qualities, such as forgiveness, tolerance, inner strength and the confidence to overcome fear and insecurity. The compassionate mind is like an elixir; it is capable of transforming bad situation into beneficial ones. Therefore, we should not limit our expressions of love and compassion to our family and friends. Nor is the compassion only the responsibility of clergy, health care and social workers. It is the necessary business of every part of the human community.

Whether a conflict lies in the field of politics, business or religion, an altruistic approach is frequently the sole means of resolving it. Sometimes the very concepts we use to meditate a dispute are themselves the cause of the problem. At such times, when a resolution seems impossible, both sides should recall the basic human nature that unites them. This will help break the impasse and, in the long run, make it easier for everyone to attain their goal. Although neither side may be fully satisfied, if both make concessions, at the very least, the danger of further conflict will be averted. We all know that this form of compromise is the most effective way of solving problems - why, then, do we not use it more often?

When I consider the lack of cooperation in human society, I can only conclude that it stems from ignorance of our interdependent nature. I am often moved by the example of small insects, such as bees. The laws of nature dictate that bees work together in order to survive. As a result, they possess an instinctive sense of social responsibility. They have no constitution, laws, police, religion or moral training, but because of their nature they labour faithfully together. Occasionally they may fight, but in general the whole colony survives on the basis of cooperation. Human beings, on the other hand, have constitutions, vast legal systems and police forces; we have religion, remarkable intelligence and a heart with great capacity to love. But despite our many extraordinary qualities, in actual practice we lag behind those small insects; in some ways, I feel we are poorer than the bees.

For instance, millions of people live together in large cities all over the world, but despite this proximity, many are lonely. Some do not have even one human being with whom to share their deepest feelings, and live in a state of perpetual agitation. This is very sad. We are not solitary animals that associate only in order to mate. If we were, why would we build large cities and towns? But even though we are social animals compelled to live together, unfortunately, we lack sense of responsibility towards our fellow humans. Does the fault lies in our social architecture -the basic structures of family and community that support our society? Is it our own external facilities - our machines, science and technology? I do not think so.

I believe that despite the rapid advances made by civilization in this century, the most immediate cause of our present dilemma is our undue emphasis on material development alone. We have become so engrossed in its pursuit that, without even knowing it, we have neglected to foster the most basic human needs of love, kindness, cooperation and caring. If we do not know someone or find another reason for not feeling connected with a particular individual or group, we simply ignore them. But the development of human society is based entirely on people helping each other. Once we have lost the essential humanity that is our foundation, what is the point of pursuing only material improvement.

To me, it is clear: a genuine sense of responsibility can result only if we develop compassion. Only a spontaneous feeling of empathy for others can really motivate us to act on their behalf.

We've included the full client's testimonial in this blog as is.

Thursday October 25, 2012, I went to see Chip Coffey at the Congress hotel 520. S Michigan in Chicago. I wanted to believe in him so much , I wish I read about cold readings and how they would stage paranormal state before I went.  I paid over $200 to go, the first part he talked about his childhood and when he became a physic medium, He claims at about seven years old he started seeing spirits, he claimed to be the first caller id, he knew who was calling before they called. He claimed his great-grandmother was a full-blooded Cherokee Indian medicine woman and people would travel for miles to see her. He claims he didn’t start using his powers til fourteen years ago, he tried to become an actor and worked on a physic phone line.He said after his mom died he didn’t see her til nine years later, but he can see other people’s relatives just by looking at them! the second part he did a few readings including me, but he also mentioned if you want a full reading you have to call the number on his website and it cost $500! You had to tell him the name of the person (my father Robert, but he went by the names of Bob or coach , which he didn’t pick up on how long he passed away (ten years) and how old were they(53). He was so off, he guessed it was my father , but everything else he was so off! He would say it may not come to you know, but if you think about it, you will figure it out, I remember everything about my dad. It was almost like if he told you the sky was red one day you will believe it! A tattoo of mine was showing and he was like a comedian , saying your dad didn’t like your tattoos, but he never really said anything, Well who’s parents like tattoos on their children?! He never mentioned I had coach tattooed on the back of my neck! He said he was funny and stubborn, most men are , and if you die at 53 of cancer , you were to stubborn to go to the doctor! Chip said no questions that is only if you book a 500$ reading, but I threw one in, I asked about the picture? He was squinting his eyes and looking like he was thinking very hard! Finally he told me I will find it, I said no the picture of me in his office he took down? My father and I grew apart for 5 years and he took down the only picture of me in his office, and I always wondered why he never put it back up, when he had a bunch of pictures of my brother. He came back with he is talking about a picture of you and him you will find soon, then he stopped! He claims to do all this work for animal charities , but he didn’t pick up I run a pit bull rescue or that I rehabilitate wild animals, racoons opossums  ect. He did about 8 readings total. The worst for me was a mother that lost her child at the age of 13. First he said they don’t know if it was an accident or not? Well he was hit by a car on a bike, it was an accident! Then when Chip found out his age he played on her emotions, said what most 13 yr old boys do, like she was the softy, if he wanted something he didn’t go to dad , he went to mommy, he knew the dad was there because he asked! she was crying so hard. The last part of the event that was about 60$ more was Chip playing around for a half an hour w/ flashlights , and it was dead! He even asked one of his employees, Have you ever seen the flashlights this slow? She said no of course. One blinked a few times….WOW! This hotel was claimed to be haunted by Al Capone, we got no voices no  curtains moving , basically I wasted over 200$ on a guy that likes to talk….A fake? I would say oh yes!!! Chip Coffey is just an actor praying on grieving people who want to believe there is a place our loved ones go. Someone just told me to have faith, and I think that is the best advice. I would never go to a medium again!
