Sometimes there is truth to the warning of the ‘slippery slope.’ For example, the longer (and more people) disregard God’s Word about not contacting the spirit realm, then the further away from reality they tend to get. Once you begin ‘sliding down’ the slope of spiritism then a spirit of delusion begins to take over. The bible warns about a delusional spirit descending upon mankind in the last days. What were once vices are now virtues. Weirdness and implausibility appear to the deluded mind to be cool and even rational. There is a triplet of issues, amongst many, that I’d like to use as Exhibits of this slippery slope into folly/danger.
It is becoming increasingly popular to connect Bigfoot with Aliens. Because Bigfoot activity is often attended with UFO sightings, and because of the seeming difficulty to collect Bigfoot evidence, and because they are also linked to all sort of paranormal phenomena, some folks are beginning to theorize that Aliens are the origin and cause of this Cryptic ‘thing’. Hence, we now have a conjunction of two phenomena which used to be viewed as distinct.
This theory does take into serious consideration the very frequent association of Bigfoot activity with paranormal activity. Of course, many other Bigfoot researchers see them simply as a natural phenomenon….purely biological. But the weakness there is the inability to explain how or why Bigfoot activity is shrouded in paranormal activity.
So, in order to explain the phenomena, some researchers are looking to an Alien/UFO connection. This may make sense to them but I think it is part and parcel of the delusional thinking…and the slippery slope.
There is an excellent site on Facebook called “Ancient Aliens Debunked”. I mention this because there is strong evidence that both of these phenomena are demonic. Once you ‘peer behind the veil’ of both Bigfoot and Alien sightings, the paranormal activity associated with both can best be explained by demonic activity.
Once you fully grasp the Angel of Light Principle, then it has tremendous explanatory power. Satan/demons can appear as ANYTHING….including Bigfoot or Aliens!
TWC has a TV show in which they claim to be the first team to capture a ghost. These guys profess to be Christian in their convictions. However, when they are about to pray the leader usually says something like, “Let’s first fist bump the Big Man.” A slip of the tongue? Given the widespread deficient understanding of God’s character, I’m not sure….I certainly would not want to speak that way of the Holy Lord of Glory—a God of consuming fire-- who is the creator and judge of heaven and earth.
Okay, what do we make of this unprecedented attempt to capture a ghost? First, they haven’t actually caught anything yet. I mentioned the slippery slope earlier. There are thousands of groups in the US, and numerous TV shows, which are devoted to validating or debunking paranormal claims. These shows are meant to entertain, and the law of diminishing returns begins to apply—need something new…something further ‘out there’. In other words, slipping down the slope.
I have to ask you this: what sense does it make to try to capture an alleged soul/spirit? What makes them think that a box—no matter how many bells and whistles it has—can contain a spirit?
Most cultures from the dawn of history up til today, are respectful or even fearful of these entities. They might try to repel them but not capture them!
On one show these professing Christians were convinced that the entity they were trying to capture was demonic. Slippery slope. What kind of ‘maggot in the brain’ type thinking would it take to even think of attempting to capture a demon? A spirit who is pure evil and exceedingly more powerful than they/us…it SHOULD appear as pure madness to try to capture an unclean spirit. Is it not against the spirit of the Word that tells us in Jude and 2 Peter to not show disrespect to Satan/demons? They are using earthly means to try to fight a spiritual battle.
It grieves me to say this but a powerful delusion has settled upon the paranormal community due to its persistently disobeying Leviticus 19:26; Deuteronomy 18.
I am acutely aware of my own failures and brokenness, so I don’t want to seem as coming across as harsh. However, if we have to wait until we are perfect before we are allowed to steer folks away from serious danger, then nobody will be able to cry ‘halt’ when they see someone about to fall off a cliff. Or down a slippery slope.
Ralph Sarchie. Of the many demonologists out there, he has been catapulted almost overnight into the center of a lot of attention. I have no doubt that Ralph is a godly man and anointed in his ministry. If you are not aware, he and his team are on TV as well.
My concern is two-fold: he believes in trapped spirits, and the manner in which he cleanses homes. It distresses me how quickly and capriciously he comes to the conclusion that some spirits are human. But once you step on the earthbound spirit slope, then you are bound to slip.
But of greater concern at the moment is how he, too, dismisses the command to not disrespect the diabolical. Whatever his personality or background as a cop, that must be brought under the Lordship of Christ. It is not uncommon for Sarchie to provoke demons by demeaning them or cussing them. I cringe when he calls them cowards and uses profanity in his provocation.
Speaking of the slippery slope, of the thousands of folks who are coming under his influence, how many other budding demonologists will adopt his profane provocation, or take it a step further? Once you cuss a demon, where will it lead to? Jude and 2 Peter warn us for a reason.
The way to avoid slipping down the slippery slope is to stay away from the slope!

Staring at Goats...the Military and the Occult

Nobody has a higher view of our military than myself. Had I not felt called to the ministry, I had a longing to be in the military. I have always felt a sense of regret and guilt that I never served in in our nations military.I have read numerous books recently regarding life in the military and they both inspire and haunt me.
Nevertheless, a few years ago a friend of mine lent me a copy of, "The Men Who Stare at Goats", but for whatever reason, I did not read it until recently. It was unnerving. Of course, there was a major motion picture based on this book.
Jim Channon figures heavily in this book...below is a quote re: Channon from Wikpedia...
According to the book The Men Who Stare at Goats by journalist Jon Ronson, Channon spent time in the 1970s with many of the people in California credited with starting the human potential movement, and subsequently wrote an operations manual for a First Earth Battalion. The manual was a 125-page mixture of drawings, graphs, maps, polemical essays and point-by-point redesigns of every aspect of military life. Channon imagined new battlefield uniform would include pouches for ginseng regulators, divining tools, food stuffs to enhance night vision, and a loud speaker that would automatically emit "indigenous music and words of peace."[1][2] A movie based on the book-released in Autumn 2009-starring George Clooney, Ewan McGregor, Jeff Bridges and Kevin Spacey, fictionalized the First Earth Battalion as the New Earth Army.
Beliefs
Channon believed the Army can be the principal moral and ethical basis on which politics can harmonize in the name of the Earth. Channon declared the First Earth Battalion's primary allegiance was to the planet earth.[3] Channon envisioned the First Earth Battalion would organize itself informally: uniforms without uniformity, structure without status, and unity powered by diversity, and members would be multicultural, with each race contributing to "rainbow power".[4] Channon proposed as a guiding principle that members of the First Earth Battalion seek nondestructive methods of conflict resolution because their first loyalty is to the planet.[5] Warrior Monk
Channon coined the term "warrior monk" for potential members of the First Earth Battalion.[6]
Credo
According to the book Mind Wars by Ronald McRae, each member of the First Earth Battalion would be sworn to uphold a credo of "high commandos and guerrilla gurus":
I have the capacity and therefore the duty to contribute to the development of myself, my associates, and our planet, simultaneously, now!
I will organize a self-supporting high commando group that will create and perform evolutionary breakthrough actions on behalf of people and planet. One people, one planet.
I will then pass on this concept to others whAo are capable of generating further self-organizing commando teams.
I will await the time when my group can connect naturally with others at higher and higher levels of awareness and performance - the Natural Guard.
Apparently, Channon lives in Hawaii, a wealthy man. His manual has had a profound impact on the military, according to the book. But the people affected the most tend to be upper brass and special forces.
What seems to be clear is that in NC (Ft Bragg and elsewhere), the highest ranks experimented with remote viewing and other occult practices (e.g.staring at goats in an attempt to kill them)
The book closes around 2004, and the author had been contacted, informing him that remote viewers were being sent to Iraq.
Folks have speculated as to why UFO activity has accellerated above military bases in the last few decades.Some have assumed that it had to do with our nuclear capabilities, and others more conspiracy oriented.
What struck me as an odd coincidence is that the UFO sightings coincide with Channon's/military/CIA interest in the occult.
This is not a review of the book--where the goat staring occurred and what happened--the vital point is that the Occult was introduced to the military in earnest the same time the New Age was infiltrating the rest of culture.
So, I end more with a question--did Channon, and the military upper brass endorsement (some of them anyway) of his ideas, open the doors to the demonic? It HAD to. That it was/is the military that has black ops using occult methods explains with more specificity as to why our country is being demonized. The Lordship of Christ over the totality of life is being replaced by the influence of the occult over the totality of life.
We need to pray for revival and reformation. In Jesus alone,

Skinwalker, Shapeshifter and Biblical Worldview

A book I read yesterday --"Hunt for the Skinwalker"-- reminded me of the importance of Christians learning how to think with a biblical worldview...because the worldview it (the book) was espousing was entirely different.
Let me give you a severely compressed summary of the book. (Written by Colm Kelleher, Ph.D and George Knapp) A large ranch in Utah has gained a reputation for being a paranormal Grand Central Station. The Ute and Navajo Indians believe it to be the home of an evil entity called the Skinwalker, and they are deathly afraid of it. Shamans from both tribes practiced black magick and cursed one another and others--like the Mormons surrounding them. Along with other unmentioned events, this is ample reason for demonic activity to flourish.
Enter the "Gormon" family who moved on the property in 1994, totally unaware...Cattle mutilation, shadow figures, UFO sightings galore, strange lights even more galore, sightings of impossibly huge wolves who were immune to gunshots and disappeared at will. .Inside the ranch house objects were disappearing all the time, and outside cattle and farm implements were suspended high in trees in the front yard. Within less than two years the oppressed and broken family were forced to move.Sounds pretty demonic to me, but...
They sold the property to NIDS--National Institute of Discovery Science-which was funded to scientifically explore all the bizarre episodes . Long story short, it was determined that the ranch was a doorway which opened up to limitless universes. It was stated (and this is crucial) that the prevailing view of quantum physics was the belief in infinite universes. The beings from these other universes sometimes entered through the doorway and caused all the paranormal activity. As I understand it, two facts were given as "proof" of infinite universes--an infinite universe and dark matter. Neither of these seem to me to have any bearing on the plausibility of this "revolutionary breakthrough" in science. In fact, the notion is on a collision course with the bible's worldview. Let me give a skeletal outline of what a biblical worldview is comprised of. In my book I go into considerable detail about various aspects of worldview thinking.When something in science is clearly at odds with biblical teaching, then we must bow before the authority of God's Word. Also, I have stated over and over that science is unable to identify spirit entities--that is a theological issue.
"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." (Genesis 1:1) The opening verse of the Torah/bible (and chapters 1-3) provide the foundation for thinking with a biblical worldview...which I will mention six components.
1. What is Ultimate reality? According to our text, the infinite/personal God of the bible has always existed, and created the one universe ex nihilo--out of nothing. As Creator, all else is creation...this is the most basic distinction. And as Creator, He also sustains and providentially guides all things. (Col. 1:16-17; Rom. 8:28) He created the visible and invisible. Since He created all reality, He OWNS it/us.The spirit realm is populated by two kinds of entities--angels and demons.GOD is ultimate reality!
Today, allegedly backed by physicists, energy is believed to be ultimate reality...creator and creation distinction has been obliterated. Infinite number of universes is not consistent with the creation account. There is one universe which has been bent by the Fall, but will be renewed.(Rom.8)
2. What is our purpose in life? If our purpose is not God-centered then it is idolatrous. Loving, glorifying, and enjoying God is our purpose.
Once we jettison the God of the bible, there is no rational basis for purpose/meaning in life. That is why direct encounter with the spirit world has such appeal--this experience allegedly brings meaning to life. But it is doomed to fail.
3. What is the nature of history? Gen. 1:1 states that there was a real beginning. The infinite/personal God created the space time continuum, as well as the visible and invisible. In 3:15 the cross is announced for the first time...history is His-story, and He is sovereign over every thing that happens in the flow of history (Eph.1:11) History is moving to a climax...the Second Coming.
Eastern view of reality and history are seen as cyclical--with reincarnation, and the goal of is the outworking of some super-evolutionary jump in cosmic consciousness...allegedly happening NOW!
4. What is the basis of morality? In the Old and New Testaments ethics is grounded in the unchanging character of God. "Be holy because I am holy" says the Lord. Again, with just Gen.1:1 God can tell us what to do because we are His by virtue of His creating us.
With the new energy-centered worldview, there is no adequate basis for ethics. With infinite universes, all is lawless.
5. What are the essential traits of being human? Genesis 1-3 answers this clearly--we are creatures of great nobility, having been made in God's image But we are all sinners as well. (Rom. 3:23), since we fell with Adam, our Federal head. God is infinite/personal and we are finite/personal...making communication with us not only possible but expected. Only God has intrinsic value. Humans have extrinsic value--God values us, therefore we have value.
In an energy/consciousness centered view of reality, then humans are a cosmic accidents--personal warts on the face of an impersonal universe/s. We have no more dignity than the blade of grass.
6. What happens to us after we die? We see in Gen. 1-3 that humans are a body/soul composite. Physical death, which rips the soul from the body, is a consequence of sin. In 3:15 the gospel is announced for first time. God owns us, body and soul-at death our soul returns to Him immediately for judgement. He is the sovereign, holy Judge before whom we must give an account.
Some say that our "free-will" mandates that we must have the ability to stay behind after death if we wish. Our free-will is not absolute...after death we MUST stand before our Maker/Judge. Others say folks get trapped, but this notion is utterly foreign to a biblical worldview where God's sovereignty overrules all else.
This is but a very brief over-view of a biblical worldview...the spectacles through which we should view the world--including the paranormal . Instead of inter-dimensional beings from other universes causing chaos and high strangeness, it is much simpler (ockhams razor) and biblical to attribute it to demonic activity. A biblical worldview enables us to see ghosts through God's eyes. The "Gormons" were clearly under demonic oppression. Skinwalker...Shapeshifter...this remote ranch in Utah was polluted by black magick--unleashing the forces of darkness, which only Jesus can expel.
