The Devil Next Door

Hello everyone. I hope you had a great weekend so far. We are dealing with hurricane season again. We were  Please pray for The Bahamas. Donate if possible. Pray for The victims as well as their families. Dorian did devastating damage.

This was a difficult blog for me to write. If you have ever seen this on TV, they leave out important details. I’m going to try to fill them in during my research. This was a tricky blog for me. But feel free to do your own research.

I’m going to talk about a satanist who named himself Pazuzzu Algarad. His real name was John Lawson. Ironically Pazuzu is actually the name of a demon....Pazuzu. I knew I heard that name before. He was definitely influenced by the demonic. This young man chose to live in just absolute filth. He felt it made things and him much stronger. Huge tattoo saying Satan on one of his for arms. This story is both sickening and sad. The teachers just had written him off. And I wonder if the police had been forced to do something about it.....And to tell his mother he must be evaluated. This is when Satan sneaks in. Oh that makes me so mad. I wonder if that would’ve made any difference? But the enemy as the Bible says “is prowling about like a lion seeking whom he may devour.” This man cut a slit in his tongue to be like a snake. I’m guessing Satan got a hold of him during weakness, I’m not saying he should be excused. He eventually killed himself.

People would literally go to the bathroom anywhere they wanted in the house. It was the house with no rules. It was a den of iniquity really. Even though it was filthy some went there and hung out and did drugs. Or they were trying to get away from their real life problems at home. It was a small town and not much to do in Clemons, near Salem, North Carolina. Many of his followers were drug users and his house had no rules. He had a way with words and knew how to manipulate very well. Just like Satan. I believe this man was oppressed possibly possessed. He drew people in with a certain appeal. Yes it was gross but his friends said it was a escape for most people. (Idle hands are the Devils tools) the drugs and no rules appeals to people out of work in a small town. It’s sad in many ways but the devil will use these situations to drag your soul to hell.

Let’s take a look at what Pazuzu means? A couple of things depending on personal belief.

“In ancient Mesopotamian religion, pazuzu also called Fazuzu or Pazuza) was the king of the demons of the wind, brother of Humbaba and son of the god Hanbi. He also represented the southwestern wind, the bearer of storms and drought.” He was the demon in the first Exorcist film.

According to Wikipedia, Pazuzu is featured in the 2014–15 NBC television series Constantine in a two-part episode "The Saint of Last Resorts". The protagonist, John Constantine, summons Pazuzu to combat Lamashtu, the primary antagonist of the first part, and later willingly allows Pazuzu to possess him to save himself from another powerful demon. However, Pazuzu has no wish to leave his new host, and emerges whenever Constantine is in danger, causing the deaths of at least eight dangerous gangbangers. Luckily, Constantine's ally Anne-Marie is able to exorcise Pazuzu by the end of the second part.

No one should EVER call on a demon for help. Only call on Christ and you have a calling and have The Lords hedge of protection as the Bible (KJV) tells us. See how these movies are and people believe it to be true. As if you need to summon a dangerous demon for help. That’s a terrible idea floating around. It’s dangerous and becoming highly popular. All over social media you can learn so much dangerous information. It is truly frightening. The world is bad enough without letting demons have a legal right to enter your life. It’s relentless until they have your soul. That’s all they think about. They HATE HUMANS. It goes back to Lucifer when he was an angel. (Another blog for another day.)

A lot of people for some some reason believe pazuzu is also Zozo. A demon that is known to prey on Ouija boards. I’m not sure where they get that connection. The Exorcist was a sensationalized true story. They had to keep the young boy protected. His name was never released. I’ve read in an article somewhere (this is just a side note) that the producer got a true story sent to him in the mail and said this would make a good movie so he read this person‘s true life story. And they add things and change things out in the movies. Most people know this I think. The boy is now a grand father. He remembers nothing from his traumatic experiences. Praise God for that, Satan likes to harass you for life! You’re mind is the devils' playground. Remember this friends. Jesus can remove him from your life. They flee at the name of Jesus when met with someone with rock solid faith. They only want to bring you heartache.

Pazuzu is a demon in charge of a lot of hell. Remember..... I look at this from a biblical point of view. Just my humble opinions when I blog. I have been at this over 25 years. (I'm 45). I started seriously at the age of 19. I took courses on Spiritual Warfare at a local church with a long term boyfriend at the time who was a youth pastor. We learned related subjects too. Later I took courses at Trinity Bible college. No degree. Just a certificate of completion. I’m no expert. Just because my father was a Pentecostal Minister means nothing. It afforded me a great head start on a calling. Okay, back to the blog. I wanted to get that out of the way again. In case someone doesn’t know reading this. As scholar Stephen Bertman notes, "though short on pizzazz, Pazuzu made it to Hollywood: he is the only Mesopotamian demon to have starred in a movie - The Exorcist". In the 1973 horror film (based on the 1971 novel by William Peter Blatty), Pazuzu is the demon who possesses the Linda Blair character and is associated with the Christians Satan and the forces of evil.”

You can research this on your own. But ironically it was on TV two weeks ago. But some things were left out of the documentary. He had three fiancee's. They all lived together. His mother was a Satanist, too. They didn’t say that on the documentary. His followers stipulated while he was very high on crystal meth (Crystal Meth and the devil) he grounded down his teeth to a point so he could bite into his sacrifices easier. He (Pazuzu) stated he had bodies in the basement. Witnesses claimed this house smelled like death. Not to mention it was a very filthy place to live. He didn’t clean or bathe for over a year. People would just use the restroom anywhere they wanted and it wouldn’t get cleaned up if the dogs didn’t eat it. He felt that gave him more power.

His childhood friends said he was picked on a lot. Kids called him names because he always smelled. His mother had him seek mental health several times. But when he took over her home, I know why she did not put her foot down. It could be a generational issue but that is just my guess. I’m guessing it just really did not do well because they failed this young man. When he dropped out of school he decided to become everybody‘s worst nightmare. He was 18 and a freshman. Because he smelled nobody gave him the time of day and they just wrote him off according to what I’ve researched. It’s kind of sad. That’s what I mean about people not judging their fellow man. We know not what they may be going through. As he became older the situation became much worse.

He was arrested once for choking his mother. She didn’t press charges. But she lived at this home too. It was her house. Which a lot of people said it was a nice big home that she kept very nice. It makes me wonder how could she live in that environment and not only that, how can she ignore her son's mental health? It did not take a genius to know something wasn’t right. And throwing drugs into the mix just made things worse. He murdered someone's son as a way to initiate his rituals. That speaks volumes. He was even receiving disability for some type of a anxiety disorder. He could get all the drugs he wanted. All the cigarettes and alcohol too. That makes it even more dangerous when they have a monthly income to support their way of living.

I don’t know how people get away with that. I know people who are truly suffering from cancer and other serious illnesses and they cannot get any Social Security disability. Everybody is always denied at first but they say if you keep trying it after a certain amount of time you get it if it is a legitimate illness. However,  people slip under the cracks. Maybe if this man would’ve received the proper mental health treatment when he was younger perhaps two people would still be alive and his soul may have been able to be saved. It started in his teen years. He was 30 when arrested, I believe. They finally found two bodies in his backyard. And there was possibly more. One victim was his ex-girlfriend’s husband and the other one was a young man who was part of the ritual initiation.

Side note: They had to demolish the house as it was deemed inhabitable. That’s how bad it was. One of the neighbors bought the land so no one can build there. They felt the land still had evil ties. God only knows what went on over the years. His mother hasn’t said anything since her son died. She won’t speak to reporters or police.

When he went to jail he committed the suicide. Remember.... during a crystal meth bender he grounded all his teeth down to a point. The jail had a hard time with him on suicide watch. He kept biting into his arm and legs and would be treated by medical. He finally was able to lose enough blood to die one night after biting into his arm. He was found in a pool of blood. But the police are very tight lipped about it all. Remember he had his teeth all grounded to a sharp point. He wanted to be what everyone feared. But what the documentary I saw left out his own mother was a satanist. Now we are getting somewhere. That is probably where he found his ideas. Or inadvertently opened legal doors. And worshiping Satan is one of those doors. It never turns out well. He was fine for years but the devil turned on him. Turn to Jesus Christ. He loves you so much. Just as you are. This was another example of the devil.

Until next time, may your days be bright and your thoughts be light.

Dalai Lama Makes Pilgrimage to Ladakh

Pilgrimage to Leh Jokhang
July 4, 2018

Leh, Ladakh, J&K, India - Following his arrival in Ladakh yesterday, His Holiness the Dalai Lama began the day today with a pilgrimage to the Leh Jokhang. Smiling people lined the streets to greet him as he approached the city of Leh. He was welcomed on arrival at the Jokhang by Tsewang Thinles, President of the Ladakh Buddhist Association and his staff. Led by monks playing horns, they escorted His Holiness to the temple while traditional Ladakhi musicians played in the temple yard.

Once inside the temple, which was packed with local people, monks and nuns, as well as laymen and women, His Holiness paid his respects before the statues of Manjushri, Thousand Armed Avalokiteshvara, the Buddha and Guru Padmasambhava. He warmly greeted Ganden Trisur, Rizong Rinpoche, Thiksey Rinpoche and other Lamas before taking his seat facing the statue of the Buddha that emulates the Lhasa Jowo.

In his introductory speech Tsewang Thinles saluted His Holiness and other eminent Lamas. He reported that, taking His Holiness’s guidance to heart, the Ladakh Buddhist Association has decided to transform the Jokhang into a centre of learning. They are providing opportunities for people to improve their command of literary Tibetan and study Buddhist teachings with the aim of becoming 21st century Buddhists—people whose faith is based on a sound understanding.

His Holiness began his remarks with the closing and opening verses of homage from Nagarjuna’s ‘Fundamental Wisdom of the Middle Way’:

I prostrate to Gautama
Who, through compassion,
Taught the exalted Dharma,
Which leads to the relinquishing of all views.

I prostrate to the perfect Buddha,
The best of all teachers, who taught that
That which is dependent origination is
Without cessation, without arising;
Without annihilation, without permanence;
Without coming; without going;
Without distinction, without identity
And peaceful - free from fabrications.

“There have been many founding teachers of religious traditions, Mahavira, Jesus Christ and Muhammad for example, who have conveyed a common message of love, compassion and tolerance. It’s on this basis that in India there is respect for all religious traditions. Inter-religious harmony has been strong here for more than 3000 years. And yet sadly elsewhere today, we see people fighting and killing each other in the name of religion.

“In terms of philosophical views, the Buddha taught how to overcome ignorance; how to eliminate the misconceptions we have about reality. In explaining dependent origination he showed that things exist in dependence on other factors. This unique point of view is today admired even by scientists.”

His Holiness reminded his listeners that Buddhism consists of the Pali and Sanskrit traditions and that the Pali tradition focuses on the explanation of the Four Noble Truths, the Vinaya and so forth. Meanwhile, the core of the Sanskrit tradition is the Perfection of Wisdom teachings that were given on Vulture’s Peak and which emphasize emptiness of intrinsic existence. In elaborating on these teachings Nagarjuna clarified dependent origination, declaring that since there is nothing that is not dependent, there is nothing that is not empty.

“I received the ‘Six Treatises on Reason’ by Nagarjuna, as well as several from his Collection of Praises, such as the ‘Praise for the Awakening Mind of Bodhichitta’, from Geshe Rigzin Tempa,” His Holiness acknowledged. “Besides these I have received several transmissions and explanations of rare texts from Khunu Lama Rinpoche and Ganden Trisur, Rizong Rinpoche.

“I remember when I was young in Lhasa seeing people in white chubas wearing boots that turned up at the toe who were clearly not well off. They came from the Himalayan Regions and Tibetans were inclined to look down on them. However, these three great masters, who have been kind teachers to me, came from among such people.

“We are incredibly fortunate to have a rich collection of literature, the Kangyur and Tengyur, more than 100 volumes of the translated words of the Buddha and more than 200 volumes of works of subsequent, mostly Indian, masters. As a follower of the Buddha, a monk, rather than just reciting the verses of refuge, it is thinking critically about works such as the ‘Five Treatises of Maitreya’ and Nagarjuna’s ‘Six Treatises on Reason’ that has had a transformative impact on my mind. When we critically appraise such texts, we use a logical approach that derives from Dignaga and Dharmakirti, which is a profound means of gaining insight.

“The Buddha himself advised his followers not to accept what he taught at face value, but to examine it, much as a goldsmith tests gold, and accept it only after rigorous investigation has shown it to be logical and of benefit. Therefore, it’s very good that you have announced your intention to make this Jokhang and other temples and monasteries centres of learning.”

The temple was filled with applause.

“The reasoned Nalanda Tradition is now only preserved among Tibetan and Himalayan Buddhists. Today, I’m talking about reviving ancient Indian wisdom in India. The Principal of the Government College in Dharamsala has spoken to me about taking the initiative to do this in an academic way. The other day at the launch of a ‘Happiness Curriculum’ by the Government of Delhi I talked about the need to combine modern education with insight and understanding derived from ancient India. I also had the chance to discuss with Abbots from Drepung and Sera how scholars from our great monastic universities can share this knowledge with Indian educators. In March, I was able to discuss this option with 150 Vice-Chancellors of Indian universities. You Ladakhis can take part too.

“We all follow the Mahayana, the Sanskrit Tradition. The explicit content of the Perfection of Wisdom teachings at its heart were explained by Nagarjuna in his ‘Six Treatises on Reason’. The implicit content was explained in Maitreya’s ‘Ornament for Clear Realization’. What this entails is cultivating an understanding of emptiness and the altruistic awakening mind of bodhichitta.”

His Holiness explained that just as we train children to be physically fit, teaching them about exercise, diet and hygiene, we also need to teach them how to be mentally fit by training the mind and learning to tackle destructive emotions. He recommended that we all try to understand what disturbs our peace of mind and what brings calm, but stressed that it can be learned not in a religious but an academic context. He further suggested that once India responds to this initiative, China will take interest too. Once that happens 2.5 billion people could be involved, which would be of significance for the world. This, he declared, would be using knowledge preserved in the Nalanda Tradition in a secular way for universal benefit.

“The world today is facing a serious crisis of emotions. People think destructive emotions are a natural part of the mind. Advice from ancient Indian psychology can show us they are not and that we can tackle and eliminate them. We need to ask ourselves how to find happiness—it’s not in money and power. As I mentioned before, we need to discover not only what disturbs our minds, but also what the antidotes to those factors are.

“As Buddhists we regularly pray to attain enlightenment for the sake of all sentient beings. However, the fact is that it is the human beings on this earth with whom we can communicate and share this understanding. It involves logic and reason. Suicide rates are increasing in a highly developed country like Japan. Even here in Ladakh I hear incidents of suicide are growing, perhaps as a result of jealousy and competitiveness. Something has to be done. We need to call on ancient Indian psychology in a secular way, relying on our common sense, common experience and scientific findings. And that’s all for today.”

Stopping to interact playfully with members of the crowd, old people and young children, His Holiness made his way out of the temple to his car. He then drove from Leh back to the Shewatsel Phodrang for lunch.

Fear & Torment Are NOT from God

As I've pointed out in many blogs that our mind is the devils playground. It's his major tool and weapon to utilize as a way to torment us. Even so far as to cause people to commit suicide. One of the biggest door openers to attract demonic spirits is the spirit of fear. This spirit can take on many forms, but its intentions are clear, no matter what kind of spirit of fear it may be, It intends to keep you from living a joyful, peaceful, spirit filled life where you give to others. It will keep you awake with nightmares. It will keep you in bondage unable to overcome past emotional and physical wounds. For example, the fear of throwing something away, it could be anything from collectibles, clothes or simply trash. These people have been labeled “hoarders”. You have to understand for them tossing away even trash is deeply traumatic and overwhelmingly scary for them. I feel this often comes from a major trauma, most often the loss of a loved one, but it could be any trauma that can bring this particular spirit of fear into a persons life.

Satan is the master of the mind and that's the first thing he and his demons attack, you're mind. They can manipulate thinking patterns by taking something minor put it in your head creating a Sandcastle out of a piece of sand. Fear is not of God. Many people who have an unhealthy fears need to know this. Don't let the enemy rob you of happiness and peace. No one has to be perfect and without sin in order to love Jesus Christ and follow his teachings. I'd be a liar if I even began to say I sin very little or I'm sin free. There's nothing in the bible that stipulates a sinner can't love and choose to worship God and move past mistakes and repent then move forward. That doesn't make someone a fraud. If one says otherwise, Christ died on the Cross Of Calvary for nothing then. Easter is all for nothing. I do feel people in leadership need to really pay more attention to their actions but no one is without sin or never makes mistakes or poor choices in life. Don't let this lie make you feel God won't love you or you are not allowed to worship and love him.

One way Satan gains control of the mind is when we place our trust in what many Christians mistakenly call the Holy Spirit. What I mean is  "God told me to do this. . ." However, what God told them to do is completely contrary to God’s word. Jesus said in John 8:47 "He who is of God hears the words of God." God never, ever, ever leads us contrary to the Word of God. So when we receive anything we think is the Holy Spirit, the first question we must ask is "Does God’s word agree with what I believe is the Holy Spirit speaking to me?" Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 11:14 "And no wonder for Satan transforms himself into an angel of light."

Isaiah 41:10 Fear not, for I am with you. I believe God works gently with us to bring us out of bondage and into liberty. If you've been afraid of something and desire to be free, the time will eventually come when you'll have to face your fear and not run away from it. Just take Jesus' hand, acknowledge that He is with you, and do it. If you're afraid of people with authority, the time will come when you'll have to confront an authority figure and not cower in fear. God will have arranged the time. He'll be there, but you'll have to choose whether to go through or run away.

I found the following paragraph of information I obtained at deeptruths.com
Fear is today's No.1 killer! Believe it or not, fear causes more sickness and more mental illness and more premature deaths than anything else on Earth! Doctors have discovered that heart muscle is actually DESTROYED when people are subject to great fear. Dr. Marilyn Cebelin, writing in the General Practitioner's newspaper, "Pulse," says the hormone, adrenalin, literally DESTROYS heart muscles when people are subjected to intense stress and fear. Canadian medical circles also report that WORRY increases chances of infectious disease, in that it weakens the body's ability to fight off germs. A recent study of cases of streptococcal infection, according to Dr. Robert Haggerty, revealed that one out of four cases of such infections occurred after prolonged trauma and anxiety. Heart trouble, high blood pressure, arthritis and stomach ulcers are all basically caused by worry, tension, stress and fear!

If you're at one of these crossroads in your life, let me encourage you to go forward. Don't stand still in terror, but take His hand and go forward. Remember, fear torments and God wants to deliver you from all of your fears. Perfect love casts out fear. Remember this my friends. God does not being you torment, only the enemy.

1 John 4:1-3 - Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already.

If you feel the Devil is attacking you with fears, worries, anxiety etc., you can pray in the Name of Jesus and resist and overcome him!--Jesus said, "Behold, I give you power over all the power of the Enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you."-Luke 10:19. This power is YOURS if you believe His Word, claim His promises and pray in the Name of Jesus! In fact, if you are filled with faith and His Holy Spirit, you have the authority to resist the Devil directly, just like Jesus and His early disciples did.

Shame -- How to Deal With It

By Reverend Mark Hunnemann

Cows don’t experience shame, but it is a universal phenomenon amongst humans. This is a complex issue because, in one sense, we live in a shameless society (shame before God), just as Isaiah lamented about. On the other hand, jettisoning God has left us with no sufficient way to deal with our internal shame, and the results are devastating.

The first mention of shame in the bible actually celebrates the absence of it: Adam and Eve were publicly naked and felt no shame (Genesis 2:25). Our final destination is a place where nothing shameful will ever enter, or be felt, having been cleansed by the blood of Christ (Revelation 21:27)
In between, shame is all around us, and in us. Shame, depending on how you define it, can be good, but it can also be a hope-killing horror.

Some make a distinction between guilt and shame. Guilt feelings are related to wrong things we have done. Shame is related to WHO WE ARE. The bible speaks of people who have seared consciences, who no longer feel pangs of guilt. These people are also known as sociopaths.

Standing before a group of mourners a mother said, “Shame killed my son, Sam. Shame kept him quiet, living in dark secrets with terrible regrets, surrounded by friends, but so very alone.” Her son had taken his own life after a protracted battle with addiction and shame.

The grieving mother continued, “Do not let shame win. The evil one has filled his quill with shame, disconnection, secrets, and sorrow and is writing his story of darkness. God’s story of light with redemption, hope, community, truth, and glory is written in His own blood.”

Destructive shame has become epidemic; part of everyone’s story to some extent. Shame manifests itself by isolation, self-protection, self-hatred, self-destruction, self-preservation, and the illusion of control. It follows us wherever we go, and it demands center stage attention.

Isolation. Despite Sam’s popularity, he created a world of isolation. Shame induces people to define themselves by their addictions. Followers of Christ are in union with Him, and Jesus is our final, all-sufficient identity, not whatever sins we may be struggling with.

Often shame based people will isolate themselves from healthy people, and are often drawn to other shame based people, where vulnerability is avoided and cynicism abounds.  For self-protection these relationships tend to be shallow, often fixating on entertainment or other numbing activities. Healthy relationships demand vulnerability, but the commitment to self-protection kills vulnerability.

Relationships can only grow if, over time, healthy risks are taken in being vulnerable.

Shamed people often live in ambiguity; having a sense of entitlement and a sense of worthlessness. They ask for relief but often sabotage it when it is offered. They fight with thoughts that they are disgusting people and it is only a matter of time before everyone finds out the sorry truth about themselves.

Satan accuses and causes us to hate our longings for connection and redemption and makes us hate hope.

Perhaps shame's most insidious trait is to cause people to embrace the lie, that at their core, they are defectively designed. Self-hate gives way to desperate and self-destructive behaviors because they think they are irredeemable. Studies have shown that there is a correlation between shame and participation in bullying, aggression, and suicide. For Sam, the destructive behavior was addiction. However, there are many other soul-numbing activities. It saddens me to know how common addiction to pornography is amongst God’s people, including a high percentage of bible-believing pastors. The shame felt by these folks must be horrendous. Worst of all, shame makes delighting in God impossible, unless it is dealt with.

Shame operates as both a filter and an amplifier. It filters out the dignity we have as image bearers of God, and it amplifies our shortcomings. Hence, many are unable to take healthy risks and they seek to numb their pain-filled souls. Life becomes all about mere survival. And it is impossible to be other-focused or God-focused when one is survival-focused. Anxiety and depression are sure to follow.

Shame invites a person to carry all the weight in a desperate attempt to keep control, but this shuts others and God out of the picture. Satan’s voice may lead to shame, but God’s tender grace will lead to true healing—from the inside out.

Some folks are prisoners to false shame. Cultural standards of beauty, wealth, status, etc have caused many wonderful people to hate themselves, which is tragic. Others have been abused or hurt in other ways by people they trusted, and this has led to self-disgust. Tragically, abuse-shame seems to open doors to the demonic.

The gospels are full of men and women who were imprisoned by shame but Jesus’ gentle touch and forgiveness gave them hope. He took our shame upon Himself, so that we might live, and live abundantly. Hanging completely naked on the cross, and taking our sin upon Himself, and the punishment for our sin, Jesus endured the shame for the joy that was set before Him.

Shame needs to be removed, not hidden or avoided. As Christians we can bring our shortcomings in the safety of God’s grace.

Cows may not feel shame but neither can they experience the beauty of Christ’s righteousness, which covers our guilt! No matter how shame-filled you may feel, flee to the open arms of a gentle Redeemer.

Dalai Lama Meets with Vietnamese CEO's

Theckchen Chöling, Dharamsala, HP, India, 15 May 2015 - His Holiness the Dalai Lama met with a group of 112 Vietnamese from the Vietnam CEO Club at his residence today. The group consists of about 60% women and 40% men. Most were in Dharamsala for the first time. To begin with the visitors offered His Holiness two large volumes containing Shantideva’s ‘Guide to the Bodhisattva’s Way of Life’ one in English and the other in Vietnamese. They were the work of 600 contributors. In his acknowledgement, His Holiness said:

“I received an explanation of this book ‘Bodhicharyavatara’ from Khunu Lama Rinpoche in 1967, at which time he asked me to teach it as many times as I could. And I’ve tried to do that. I have found it very helpful for transforming the mind. I read it and study it whenever I can.

“What this book teaches is really helpful for reducing the self-cherishing attitude and feeling attachment for things we see as inherently existent. We all have negative emotions and, since we want to be happy, it helps to reduce them. Whether we formally follow a religious tradition or not we need to pay more attention to inner values.”

He went on to say that when we talk about happiness, we usually associate it with sensory pleasures, beautiful sights and soothing sounds. We pay insufficient attention to our mind that is the source of happiness within us. He mentioned that the first item on the BBC news this morning was about migrants trying to reach Europe from North Africa in rickety boats, many of them dying on the way. This is an example of a man made problem. Many of these arise because of the division we feel between ‘us’ and ‘them’ and our tendency to work only for ‘our side’. ‘The Guide to the Bodhisattva’s Way of Life’ teaches us how to counter this tendency.

The first of several questions from the audience asked how we can see our minds in order to change them. His Holiness explained:

“To begin with you can focus your eyes and mind on an object. When you close your eyes, an image of the object remains. This is a generic image and you can learn to hold your attention on it to sustain it. Later, you can change your focus to the mind itself.

“Chapter 6 of the ‘Guide’ talks about patience. We tend to rely on and trust our negative emotions, but if we read this chapter it becomes clear how harmful they are and how we need to control them. Chapter 8 explains the disadvantages of attachment and a self-cherishing attitude as well as the advantages of cherishing others instead.

“Whether or not we formally follow a spiritual path, it’s important that to investigate the causes of unhappiness, which are the negative emotions, and ways to counter them. We also need to pay attention to the causes of happiness, such as love and compassion, and ways to develop them.”

His Holiness asked the group about rates of suicide in Vietnam and was told they were quite low. He further enquired whether most cases took place in cities or in rural villages. Hearing that most take place in cities he suggested that people feel isolated and lonely more easily in cities, whereas in villages there seems to be more social support and a sense of community. He remarked that love and affection have a role in this. As social animals, friendship is very important for human beings and friendship is based on trust, which grows when we show concern and respect for others. He added that there is a need everywhere to educate people about the value of warm-heartedness.

He asked about corruption and the gap between rich and poor in Vietnam and the answer to both questions was, “Large”. He remarked that clearly material development is necessary, but equally important is inner development. We all have problems, he said, but we have to find ways to deal with them.

The question of suicide came up again and he recalled hearing about a monk in Tibet who was arrested and subject to ‘class struggle’ by the Chinese authorities in 1958 or 59. When the monk was being transferred to another place and the party stopped to rest, he engaged in the practice of transference of consciousness and in effect took his own life. His Holiness said that we have to consider cases of suicide according to their circumstances.

A question was asked about the 5th and 6th verses of the ‘Eight Verses for Training the Mind’, which deal taking defeat upon yourself while giving the victory to others and coping with those who harm you despite the good you have done them. His Holiness stressed the importance of not getting angry with people who do you harm, but also of not being complacent about their wrong doing. You can and should intervene.

When a member of the audience requested a very simple explanation of emptiness, His Holiness replied that things do not exist as they appear.

Someone else asked how to deal with the negative emotions that arise in the course of doing business. His Holiness advised him to try to conduct his business less for his own profit, and not in order to cheat, exploit or deceive others, but in order to contribute to society at large.

“Learn about negative emotions and how to counter them. Be practical about it. It’s not only businessmen who are subject to negative emotions, even hermits is the hills can be subject to jealousy and competitiveness. But if you become familiar with recognising them you can learn to deal with them.”

His Holiness the Dalai Lama Talks to the Japan Doctors Association

Tokyo, Japan, 4 April 2015 - Having returned to Tokyo from Sapporo this morning, this afternoon His Holiness the Dalai Lama was invited to address not only the live audience in the Japan Doctors Association Hall, but also another 166,000 members across the country online. Moved by the formality of the 500 grave-faced, besuited physicians before him, His Holiness declared that while he usually speaks in English, he would begin in his own Tibetan language. He told them how happy he was to be with them and remarked that although the President of the Japan Doctors Association (JDA) had referred in his introduction to the Dalai Lamas being bodhisattvas, he prefers to think of himself as just a human being. Switching to English, he continued:

“It’s a great honour for me to address such a gathering of people from the field of medicine, because, while almost every human activity can contribute to people’s welfare, doctors and nurses are often able to give people new life. When someone comes to a hospital they don’t come for a picnic, but because they are seeking help for some sort of trouble. And you doctors and nurses are often able to give them a new lease of life.”

He mentioned that there are a variety of medical systems in the world some with origins several thousand years old. Tibetan history records an international conference being held in Lhasa in the 8th century under the auspices of the Tibetan Emperor. It was attended by representatives of the Yunani system from Persia and Afghanistan, of Ayurveda from India and of the Chinese and Tibetan systems. The modern Tibetan medical system seems to have emerged from this event.

His Holiness noted that some ailments respond best to allopathic treatment, but for others Ayurvedic, Tibetan and Chinese treatments may be more effective. He wondered whether a conference of physicians experienced in these different systems today might contribute to human progress.

Despite the earlier formal introduction, His Holiness said he’d like to introduce himself.

“As I said before, I consider myself to be one of the 7 billion human beings alive today. We are physically, mentally and emotionally the same. We all want to live a happy life. While we don’t wish for them we face problems, many of which we have created for ourselves. Why? because we take a narrow rather than a holistic view and because we lack a sense of the oneness of the human family. We are social animals. We all have the potential to develop love and compassion for each other, but we are self-centred. We see others in terms of ‘us’ and ‘them’, taking secondary differences of faith, nationality or race as an excuse. Instead, we need to promote a sense of the oneness of the 7 billion human beings.

“In the past we may have been more or less self-sufficient, but today we are interdependent. Now, the destruction of our neighbours means our destruction too. If we make the interests of the 7 billion human beings our concern, our own interests will naturally be fulfilled.”

His Holiness pointed out that when someone comes to a hospital in search of help, we don’t ask them their faith, nationality or other background, we regard them as human beings in need of help, as patients in need of treatment. He said that we all have this potential to develop unbiased love and concern for other human beings and trying to make people aware of it is his first commitment.

He mentioned that he is also a Buddhist monk who believes that all religious traditions convey a message of love, tolerance and self-discipline. As such they all have the potential to serve humanity. They may adopt different philosophical positions, but even these are directed towards the promotion of love. Therefore, he said, his second commitment is to encouraging inter-religious harmony, something needed more than ever now that increasing numbers of people are killing others in the name of religion.

His Holiness said that his third commitment derives from his being a Tibetan.

“We Tibetans have our own language and system of writing. It happens that today Tibetan is the most accurate language for explaining the Buddhist traditions taught at the great Nalanda University in India. These included philosophy and logic, beside knowledge of the mind and emotions. It’s on the basis of my studies in these traditions that I have been able to engage in conversations with modern scientists over the last 30 years or so. And one result has been that today, many scientists are interested in what the ancient Indian texts have to teach about the mind.”

The first question from the audience asked how we can deal with difficulties we will face in the future. In his reply His Holiness acknowledged that since 1 billion among the 7 billion human beings alive today assert that they adhere to no religious faith, we need to look for new ways to promote a sense of love and affection. All of us, even those who eventually become terrorists, grow up under our mother’s care and affection. But as we grow our natural sense of affection seems to decline. He suggested following the Indian example of taking a secular approach to ethics. This is an approach that respects religious traditions and even the views of those who have no faith, without depending on any of them. He told his listeners that curriculums are being developed with a view to introducing ethics with a secular, universal appeal into our general education systems.

Another physician wanted to know how to cope with emotions and how to decide ethically challenging questions. His Holiness told him that to reduce destructive emotions we need to strengthen constructive emotions. For example, to counter anger we cultivate love and compassion. Reason and common sense will help, but an additional result of developing compassion is an increase in inner strength.

With regard to challenging questions of medical ethics, the important factor is motivation. His Holiness said that he has teased his own doctors about surgery being a form of violence, but we accept it because the motivation is good. He suggested that while it is generally better to avoid abortion, there are occasions when it is the better course of action. He recommended exercising not only compassion in such cases, but wisdom and plain common sense too.

When a psychiatrist asked for advice to prevent suicide, His Holiness quoted a Tibetan master who remarked that the circumstances of some people’s lives are such that it may sometimes be better if their lives are short. He remarked that what makes our human life precious is our marvellous brain. We have an ability to cultivate compassion in a way no other beings can do and this is why suicide seems such a loss.

He pointed out that modern urban life is lonelier than, for example, life in an Indian village. In the village a suicidal person would likely find more community support and understanding. He recalled a conference he attended about 15 years ago in San Francisco that discussed crime amongst youth. The unanimous consensus was that a root cause was a general lack of affection in society. Perhaps the same applies to the incidence of suicide. He suggested that unfulfilled desire, competition and stress may be contributory factors too.

Senior doctors sought His Holiness’s advice about the impending crisis over the imbalance in numbers of elderly retired over young working members of society. He told them of a project he’d heard about in Sweden in which the elderly have a role looking after children. It results in mutual benefit. The children learn from the older people’s experience while their parents are working, and the stimulus the young provide to the old offsets the mental decline that would otherwise take place.

Coming back to the importance of secular ethics, His Holiness mentioned that it is important to teach young people at school that violence is a fruitless approach to solving problems. The use of violence and force inevitably entails unanticipated consequences and rarely a solution. It would be much better if children grew up accustomed to the idea that the proper way to resolve problems is through dialogue, through reaching a mutually agreeable solution.

Finally, His Holiness quoted the Tibetan saying about the well-qualified doctor whose treatment is less effective because he’s aloof compared to the less-qualified doctor whose treatment is more successful because he is warm-hearted. He cited his own experience of feeling more confident and likely to recover quickly when doctors and nurses engage with warm-heartedness, as opposed to those who make him feel like they are just repairing a machine.

“But,” he added, “just as we say we don’t teach the alphabet to the Buddha, you are the doctors and I’m sure this is something you already know.”

There were words of thanks and His Holiness offered all the participants on the stage a silk scarf. Outside, in the forecourt, His Holiness and the President of the JDA planted a tree to commemorate his visit.

Fear And Torment Are Not From God

1 John 4:1-3
Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.

Children Cutting -- Demonic?

By Evangelist Stephen Piersall,

God’s Preservation Ministry, sfprs.org/

With our children now, back in school the topic of kids cutting came up the other day. Our children today live under a different level of stress than we did growing up in the 1950-1960’s. Back in the day, we got up, ate breakfast, put on the clothes Mom picked out for us, hopped on the school bus, attended classes, mingled with friends at our lockers, hopped onto the bus, came home did our homework, went outside to play until the supper (not dinner) time, then outside again until the streetlights came on. Our only big vices were smoking, drinking, and marijuana.

Kids today still have similar vices. However, it is fair to say they have much more to choose from; smoking, drinking, street drugs, prescription drugs, bullying, school shootings, single parents, no Father’s in their lives, financial pressure, clothes have to be in style, video games, social media, all kinds of electronic devices, evil movies and music, role models, and cutting.

Alas, the age of children cutting themselves has dropped steadily from college freshmen to be now fifth graders. This epidemic has no specific demographic. It has spread across all cultures, social classes, and age groups. Many professionals are claiming they are constantly hearing from their patients have been bullied, lost their self-confidence, victims of sexual abuse or molestation. It also releases endorphins producing a quick rush like a “high” making this behavior addictive.

A friend of mine years back had a daughter who cut herself every day. She stated it was like a “rush.” The same as getting high on drugs fueled by loneliness, depression, and isolation led her into cutting. She did not have the stable family life. Her parents were always fighting; the norm was to hear yelling and screaming as soon as she got off the school bus. She at no time felt loved or accepted, and her mother did everything for her. She never learned to be responsible nor have the emotional skill set to cope with her life.

It overwhelmed her and she became secluded. This depression and isolation opened the door for deeper and darker demonic torment. She spoke of hearing voices telling her to cut or die, “Just do it!” Her cutting became a routine way to gain attention to her. This filled the void she had and was hunger for love and attention. She was afraid if she stopped, the attention would go away. When the school reported it to her parents, she felt betrayed and quit school. She was feeling guilty for trusting anyone in the first place. Instantly, she felt it was wrong to ask for help, and this was God’s concern. Except she did not know God and who else could she blame for her rotten life. It was not until a few of us banded together and started taking an interest in her, sort of like a “mission of God.” Helping her realize Jesus would forgive her, and getting to know the unlimited love, he has for us, in time she could stop cutting.

David Rosen, MD, MPH, is professor of pediatrics at the University of Michigan and director of the Section for Teenage and Young Adult Health at the University of Michigan Health Systems in Ann Arbor. He offers parents tips on what to watch for:

  • Small, linear cut marks. “The most typical cuts are very linear, straight line, often parallel like railroad ties carved into the forearm, the upper arm, sometimes the legs,” Rosen tells WebMD. “Some people cut words into themselves. If they are having body-image issues, they may cut the word ‘fat.’ If they’re having trouble at school, it may be ‘stupid,’ ‘loser,’ ‘failure,’ or a big ‘L.’ those are the things we see pretty regularly.”
  • Unexplained cuts and scratches that appear often in the same area. “I wish I had a nickel for every time someone says, ‘The cat did it,’,” says Rosen.
  • Mood changes like depression or anxiety, out-of-control behavior, changes in relationships, communication, and school performance. Kids who are unable to manage day-to-day stress of life are vulnerable to cutting, says Rosen.

Over time, the cutting typically escalates — occurring more often, with more and more cuts each time, Rosen tells WebMD. “It takes less provocation for them to cut. It takes more cutting to get the same relief — much like drug addiction. In addition, for reasons I cannot explain but have heard often enough, the more blood the better. Most of the cutting I see is quite superficial, and looks more like scratches than cuts. It’s the sort who when you put pressure on it, it stops the "bleeding".

A guideline to parenting has to change rapidly to keep pace. The evil one and his demons have ramped up their influence on our youth. If evil can take the focus of God away from the church, and the nuclear family that we knew, he has won the battle. Instead of getting on our knees as a family praying to God, they have a tendency to blame God. Battles may be lost, but the war is already been won with Jesus shedding his blood for us. We need to ban together as children of God and become more active parents, and bring up our children knowing and accepting God’s forgiveness and love.

If you have identified these signs in your children, please seek out a counselor and speak to your Pastor about Deliverance ministry. Do not delay in getting the help your child needs. Counseling is important and necessary but cutting also involves “Legal Rights” given to the demonic spirits. They need to be confronted and be cast out.

Each case is different; however, in the Deliverance ministry, we want to address the spirits of suicide and death quickly. Once those are gone, we can begin the process of dealing with the other aspects of deliverance and healing aimed at the open doors/emotional traumas that led them to cut in the first place. Deliverance ministry is like an “onion,” we must peel it layer by layer. Anyone who claims they can just “cleanse” or “Bless” your home and all is well. Beware of False prophets!
