The Paranormal Christian: Paranormal Investigations – A Christian Approach

By Pastor Michael Frisbee, DD/DM

In my past articles, through scriptural application, I have proven there are no human ghosts to find out there.  I have shown that doing EVP sessions in the manner for which the para-reality shows do it and hundreds of teams throughout the world mimick, is no more than a 21st century version of the Ouija Board.

I have shown, again through scriptures, that the real presence out there behind the intelligent haunts that are being experienced is the demonic.  This sounds like I am seeing every case as a demonic case.  I am not.  Well over 85% of investigations of alleged activity can be easily debunked by means of natural explanations.  Of those investigations where natural explanations cannot debunk the activity, well over three-quarters of those prove out to be of the residual variety, energy that was embedded by repetition of activity by a previous resident, or a massive out pouring of energy due to tragedy or intense emotions. Battle ground scenarios, residential homes with long histories, etc.  Some unknown trigger sets the recorded energy into replay mode.  But there is no intelligence behind the haunt.  These are not human ghosts trapped.

The miniscule percentage of remaining investigations, will be one of which an intelligence is behind the alleged activity.  This is when the danger becomes real, for it is not a human ghost as we have shown.  It is a demon, seeking to confuse, to deceive, to draw us in.  They can present themselves as angels and beings of light, or dark, oppressive, gruesome monsters.  They present themselves as little girls that just want to play, or seeking their lost Mommy.  They can pretend to be a guiding spirit to help you unlock the mysteries of life.  They can present themselves as loved ones that have passed on, and tell you secret things that allegedly only they could know.  Remember people, there is no secret in our life that is not wide open and exposed for those in the spiritual realm to see.

A few days ago I was asked, "Pastor, I am a Christian, and I have read what you have written.  I want to help people, and I was wondering, how can I conduct an investigation that doesn’t violate the scriptures?  When is it appropriate for me to do an investigation, especially if human ghosts do not exist?"

To conduct an investigation, on the aspects of, “scientific research to prove the existence of human ghosts” is simply human egotism.  You ignore all that God instructs us to not do and what He informs us of regarding our disposition after death.  Human ghosts do not exist – so why investigate at all?

There is a protocol and a justified reason for doing a Christian, Biblically based investigation.  You are not investigating in this case to prove ghosts exist, but rather to ascertain whether an intelligent presence is at work, a demonic.  The initial procedures are much the same:

1. Interview the clients; get a history from about 3-6 months before the alleged activity began.
2. Try to find any stressors that could be present in the client’s life.
3. Get a breakdown of the alleged activity and the general nature of the activity.
4. Get a medical history, are any of the clients on medication of any kind, or recently had any kind of invasive surgery.
5. Find out if the clients ever had a mental health evaluation done in the last 6-12 months, or if anyone is under the care of a mental health doctor.
6. Is there any history of mental health issues in the family.
7. What is the clients’ religious status, and what are their beliefs.
8. Investigate the background of the property and home.
9. Find out who the previous residents were, interview them.
10. Do a property review and seek out any kind of electrical, plumbing or mechanical explanation of the alleged activity.

Once all of this is done, you can determine if you have simply over imaginative people and explain to them the natural causes for what is being experienced, or if natural explanations do not, recommend an investigation to determine if an intelligent presence is there.

Set up your cameras to record in areas of alleged activity and with each, a digital recorder set to record.  The difference here, YOU WILL NOT instruct any present spirits and so forth to come forward and speak into the red light.  You are not going to sit in groups of two in a dark room and ask inane questions of whatever may be there.

You will however, do a scriptural/Biblical provocation. I only recommend this be done by those who are disciples of Jesus Christ, have been born again and walk in the spirit with Christ.  I recommend two, but three is better.  You will walk around the house, slowly and in lowered voices, pray the Lord’s Prayer, read from Proverbs and Psalms, read of Christ’s ministry, particularly when He excised demons from the afflicted, and read Ephesians 6:10-20.  Keep doing this over and over.  If you have a few or several Christians on your team, do this in shifts with different people.  Your only direct communication with anything there, will be to command it, in the authority of Jesus Christ, to let itself be heard and known.

When it comes to the demonic, hearing God’s Word irritates, causes pain, and creates fear within them.  They cannot but help respond to it.  This is why it is critical non Christians not be present when this type of provocation is done, for they will lash out against those they can easily get to.

When you do your analysis, especially in reviewing the audio, listen carefully to what you do get.  You will not here the usual half spoken, barely uttered meaningless stuff, but clear responses to the scripture being uttered.  If you get this, you know that you do have a presence.  This is now the point the real work begins.  This is where counseling the clients, helping them back on a proper path with Christ, and then helping them to remove the presence from their home.

If a presence is found, a simple house blessing will not remove it.  There will need to be a binding of that presence and casting it out.  Only the Authority of Christ can do that.  Once this has been done and the demonic removed, you can do a blessing and prayer of spiritual canopy.  Help the family find a good Christian, spirit filled church community to attend if they do not have a home church already.  Get them into a habit of reading the Bible daily and praying.

A Christian Paranormal Investigation team is there to bring peace and harmony to a client’s home, and remove the strife caused within it.  The goal is to confirm a true presence, or to negate the fact one exists, and help the clients to come to terms with whichever reality comes to light.

There will not be a live “The Paranormal Christian Radio Show” tomorrow night, since I will be in Orlando, teaching a seminar, “Introduction to Christian Demonology” at the Buena Vista Suites.  The seminar begins at 9 am, registration begins at 8:30 am.  Walk in tickets will be $35 for the seminar.

Modern Day Angel Appearances

By Lisa Grace

*All biblical references in the article below are taken from the KJV

No matter what religion or lack there of people claim to have, almost everyone except the most stout atheists profess to having a belief in angels. I’ve experienced these professions of faith in majestic supernatural creatures when I go to give talks at art galleries, churches and teen events.

Just to let you know about my background, I am a Bible believer that the Holy Scriptures are inspired (God-breathed) word of God (Father, Yeshua [Jesus], and the Holy Spirit [three in one]) and I come at beliefs in the supernatural from the explanations and glimpses allowed us through the Holy Scriptures. There are over 400 angel references documented throughout the Holy Scriptures.

So what do we know about angels?

They are creatures in that they were created. They have a starting point, and possibly for some (the fallen ones) an ending point.

They populate heaven, are used as worship leaders, choirs, praise teams, warriors, guardians, messengers, helpers, and protectors. There is an archangel, Michael. (Jude 1:9, Rev 12:7) They can appear as light, bronzed, or in common human form. They exist to serve God. They are smarter, more beautiful, stronger, and longer lived than humans. Yet they are to be our caretakers.

There are several types of angels with different duties. The more common ones like Seraphim, and Cherubim (who are warriors and not little baby cherubs), wheels etc… are the ones most people are familiar with.

What do we know about our interactions with angels?

We should not pray to angels. They are a creation like us. (Ps 8:5, Hbr 2:7, Hbr 2:9)
Angels can eat and drink. They appear in human form and we can entertain them and not know they have been among us. (Hbr 13:2) They are often sent to rescue us. (Dan 6:22, Exd 23:20)Most people are familiar with the story of someone left in a house fire not able to find their way out, when suddenly a fireman or person shows them the way out. Then once outside, they find out no one was sent in to rescue them.

If an angel appears to you, and shows himself in any of his glory or comes quoting scripture, it could be a fallen angel sent to lead you astray.(Luke 4:2, Luke 4:10) Evil angels can and do appear as angels of light. This is one reason you must learn your scripture well. So you can develop discernment. One reason the Bible warns we are not to dabble in medium ship is you are attracting demons, not dead people. The dead sleep. (Job 14:12, John 11:13, 2 Sam 7:12, 1 Kings: 1:21, Acts 26:23, 1The 4:16)
It’s for your own safety and well being. Evil (fallen) angels are detestable to God. (Rev 20:10, Matt 25:41, Rev 12:9)
So why would we seek out to friend his/our enemy?
The beginning of wisdom is understanding. Would you go to the zoo and jump in the lions den to play with them? Of course not.
But that is exactly what people are doing when they consort with supernatural creatures not sent by God. The spirit of God is not in them to protect them. If the spirit of God was in them (in the name of Yeshua, through the power of the Holy Spirit) they would have no desire but to cast them out, not talk and fraternize with them. You are as an empty house they can choose to possess and destroy. (Matt 12:45, Luke 11:26)
Some demons require not only a believer’s faith to be cast out, but prayer and fasting. (Matthew 17:21, Mark 9:29)

As the author of the Angel in the Shadows series, (which has been optioned for a major movie) I run into people who have angel encounters. I urge them to get in a solid Bible believing church and to pray that God put his angels around you to guard and keep you in all his ways.

To learn more about angels and how they work in our lives, read the Angel series consisting (so far) of Angel in the Shadows, Book 1, Angel in the Storm, Book 2, and Angel in the Ice, Book 3 (out first week in February 2012) by Lisa Grace.

'PARANORMAL STATE EXPOSED' COMING OUT FEBRUARY 6, 2012

Paranormal State Exposed will be available in eBook format on Amazon Kindle, B&N Nook and at Smashwords.

Here's an excerpt from the beginning of Paranormal Teachings: The Best of Shedding Some Light

Things That Go Bump in the Night!

Does your house or apartment make as much noise as Disney’s Haunted Mansion? Do you hear a lot of creaking and groaning noises issuing from your living room or an upstairs bedroom? What about that noise down in your basement that seems to happen in the middle of the night? Does this mean that your residence will be featured on the next episode of Ghost Hunters as it’s being swept for poltergeists, ghosts, or demons? Have you pondered the idea that if you do have a ghost, or ghosts, it might make your place an attraction on a ghostly guide, which would then make your house famous?

Another thing to consider before you contact a spiritual advisor/psychic/ghost hunter/exorcist is the fact that there are many who operate on the notion that they’re the experts and you’re not. Therefore, they may charge you a lot of money to determine that the creaking noise on the staircase you hear is a ghost, when in reality it’s just that: a creaking noise caused by a weakening piece of lumber. Those groans that resound through your bedroom vent and whisper ominous coded messages happen to be wind, not a long-winded ghost or goblin!

Please use your common sense when investigating "strange" noises that you hear or if there are peculiar flashes of light that you might see. Call in a friend or relative to help out. Test connections to electric outlets if you happen to see flickering lights. Make sure that creak in the attic is just that, a part of the floor or wall that can shift when there is seismic activity or just the natural shifting this planet of ours does every day and every night.

In my home I noticed one of the lamps liked to flicker late at night. A ghostly nocturnal visitor? No, in that room the light only went on at night. And when it made a loud buzzing noise and caught fire, I didn’t suspect a mysterious entity. In fact, I wasn’t really surprised. For several weeks the light bulb had momentarily flickered when the light was switched on. The lamp had a socket problem causing it to "give up the ghost."

You may need to visit your local Home Depot instead of summon an exorcist! Your house may not be visited by ghosts but just is settling down like a senior citizen with bad gas pains. Sure, you might have ghosts out there, or you might just have a night time symphony of creaks and groans that need fixing.

GHOST WHISPERINGS - Part I - The Skeptic's Outlook

By Skarlet Rae

This article will be presented as a three part series, as follows:

Ghost Whisperings - Part I - The Skeptic's Outlook

Ghost Whisperings - Part II - Who Or What Is Talking

Ghost Whisperings - Part III - What Are They Saying

Have you ever heard a ghost speak? Do you really know who or what is talking? Can you understand exactly what they say?

I'd like to begin by saying that I am somewhat of a skeptic at heart. Although having an unshakable belief in God, our Creator, I'm not one to readily just jump and believe. Not science. Not the paranormal. Not many things. Many times science declares loud and clear one 'reality', only to change it later in time, when other factors and evidence become available. So things can change. In one age being in disagreement, only to find, with later technology and findings that things are in sync.

Take a look, at one time men were in agreement that the world was flat. Later they knew better. New evidence presented itself and 'scientific reality' changed. Hundreds of years ago doctors of that time used leaches to bleed people, believing that it would cure their illnesses. They believed that letting of blood, as it was called, cured the sick. We now know how obsurd that is.

Along those lines, therefore, I think to myself, ok, they've figured some of it out so far. We have some amazing information and discoveries. Take a look at how paranormal investigators and ghost hunters have interesting equipment to catch and document things. Things that cannot be seen by human eyes or heard by human ears. But maybe that knowledge and technology will, in the future, change. It can, can't it? Not only can it, but it most probably will. So for now, I'll remain with a healthy dose of skepticism, as things most assuredly will change.

I remember back in the late 1970's or early 1980's, a new weight loss diet was put on the market that consisted of high protein shakes. While on that diet one wasn't supposed to drink or eat anythning else. Just the shake. One more rule of that diet was to not drink much water, if any, or as little as possible. (Yikes!) Unfortunately, a few people died while on that diet, of dehydration. It was awful! It, as you can imagine, was immediately taken off the market. We clearly know that the human body cannot go without it's adequate amount of daily water. Drinking larger portions of water is now even encouraged, especially if one is on a weight loss diet. People dying of lack of water (thirst) has been known as a reality and fact for centuries if not longer. Yet a large segments of the population believe what they were told. They thought it correct. (I, personally, think that they weren't using their intellect and thinking for themselves, because following that type of instruction goes against basic good sense, but that belongs in another blog.) So, a doctor recommended the diet, a scientifically learned man, and they believed it.

So what we believe to be correct, can and does sometimes change.

That leads me back to understanding paranormal audio evidence. What are these entities that are captured on evp's and other modern equipment, saying? And who are they?

Even after spending many years looking at all kinds of paranormal documentation, to date I'm not immediately convinced that the evidence presented to me is really what I'm being told it is. There have been several times in my youth when others tried to show me things. Things which now I know to be realities, but which, at that time I would not accept until, I, myself experienced them. I guess that is one of the marks of being human ... 'unless I see it with my own eyes I don't believe it ... and even then maybe not' ... lol. We all want to see, feel, smell, taste and experience things of the supernatural and paranormal ourselves, otherwise we have a hard time wraping our minds around such things.

We are taught early on that there is no boogie man. We are shown time and time again by our parents that no, there is nothing in the closet, as they open it for us and we peer in suspiciously. We are reassured that what we heard was just the floorboards of the old house creaking. Reassured that it was only a knocking coming from the old heating system. After many repetitions of being shown that there is nothing there, our minds adjust and we exlcude any possibility of such a thing. We ignore it all. We auditorily block it out and go on with our daily lives. Not only that, but now, we, as adults, are the ones who show 'our' little ones that there is nothing in the closet. Nothing there to be afraid of. Just nothing there. So how could 'we' believe in it now, ourselves? Isn't it hypocritical to do so? Therefore, most of us will remain skeptics, until we, ourselves, without any doubt whatsoever, experience it.

Still to date, after hearing and listening to hundreds of documented pieces of evidence, I, personally, am still of the opinion that most of what is claimed to be 'said' cannot be understood. I will admit that many of them, as I hear them, do sound like someone is saying something. But what that 'something' is, isn't clear to me. There are those rare ones where I along with anyone else, can distinctly and clearly hear the words. They are as clear as if someone was standing alongside, talking. But those are quite rare, as I find. Quite rare, indeed. Most of the time it sounds to me like garbled, whispering, unintelligible sounds that might be words. At times they'll just sound like grunting or growling, but I don't hear words in it.

Many times the documentation is labeled with what the gatherer of that information thinks that he or she heard. Therefore, for me, or anyone listening, there is already a preconceived idea as to what will be heard. Ergo, the listener believes they hear it, including myself. This type of documentation I, personally, do not trust. How can I? I don't know what it was exactly that I heard. It's like seeing something out of the corner of my eyes and not knowing if it was a reflection, a ray of sunshine glinting in a certain way, a car passing by outside whose headlights shone through my window. I can't get a solid handle on it, therefore I'm unsure.

In previous articles and blogs, even on this site, many have written about how the human mind will interpret noises they hear into words. That many evps' and such that are documented are attributable to nothing more than natural phenomenon and creaky buildings. That wind that flows in a certian way will create sounds that we, as humans, interpret as words and comments. When those types of evidences are presented, I'm not sure what exactly it is either. Is it, like those other bloggers and writer say, just natural phenomenon? I can't tell, therefore I will leave those to the side for now. Here, I'm only going to talk about those documented voices that are clearly audible. The ones you can hear clearly and exaclty what is being said. Those are the ones and the possibility of who or what is saying it, that will be my focus in Ghost Whisperings - Part II - Who Or What Is Talking, and Ghost Whisperings - Part III - What Are They Saying.

Ten Reasons Why I Dislike Movies Like 'Paranormal Activity'

By Kelly Fisher
These are in no particular order and may contain spoilers. These are only my personal opinions.

1. There is no gore!
I was raised on 80’s slasher flicks, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, etc. I understand that these movies are supposed to be more of a psychological type thriller but unfortunately they do nothing for me. Unless boring me to tears is their ultimate goal then they succeed. Give me a campy horror movie over this nonsense any day.
2. They are so quiet.
I know they do this because they want to get in the cheap scare when something goes boom in the night. It really annoys me to see these people wandering around their house in complete silence. Do you not own a television?
3. It’s always a demon!
Why does it always have to be a demon? It’s never like the creepy guy you pissed off in high school by during him down for a date and then he committed suicide haunting someone. No let’s not try that scenario as it would actually make more sense. Let’s just have some random demon follow this girl for some reason we may or may not explain depending on how long we can milk this thing out with sequels.
4. The demon always has to possess someone.
They always end these movies with one person getting possessed by said evil demon and then then proceed to go around and kill everyone. My problem with this is the demon always seems to enter the person it has been tormenting the whole movie, shouldn’t the demon enter someone else so it can kill the person it seems to love to haunt?
5. I hate the camera angles.
I understand it’s supposed to be real videos but I get enough of that from all the reality TV shows that seem to be the only TV shows on TV. I don’t want to watch a reality TV movie.
6. The terrible acting.
If you want to make me believe that this is real could you please hire some actors that can well, you know, act? Thanks.
7. The use of children and dogs for the creep factor.
Yep, I’m onto you guys. We all know most people love dogs and babies. So of course if they think something bad is going to happen to the dog or child it’s going to scare them. Please try harder.
8 .Nothing happens until the last 15 minutes of the movie.
You wait and wait and wait some more. A few doors slam, a few plates break, someone gets locked outside while the baby is left alone inside. Honestly though nothing really happens until the last 15 minutes of the movie. It kind of makes me a bit unsatisfied.
9. They are unrealistic.
I have lived with ghosts for years (one of them not so nice) and nothing like what happens in these movies has ever happened. Movies like these upset me because they make people fear ghosts, in doing that people can miss out from contact with their loved ones who have passed. If your loved ones attempt to contact you and you get scared they probably aren’t going to contact you again. They love you they don’t want to scare you, most of the time they simply want to let you know they’re ok.
10. They’re just so boring!
No further explanation needed.
