We Have to Ask? A Follow Up to Convicted Sexual Paranormal Predators

A ghostly encounter 33 years ago in an Arizona theater was the beginning of Bob Hunnicutt’s journey into the world of the ghosts and hauntings. A theater ghost challenged his notions of the existence of life after death and helped him realize that science could not easily explain everything.

Over the last 19 years, Bob has investigated cases of phenomena associated with a wide variety of hauntings at private residences, businesses and historical landmarks throughout the state of Georgia, the Southeast and portions of the Mid-west.

He has worked with renowned members of the paranormal community; exorcist Father Andrew Calder, demonologist John Zaffis, paranormal investigator Patrick Burns, ghost hunter Patti Starr, psychics Chip Coffey, Reese Christian and Sharon Johns.

He is the founder and director of the Georgia Ghost Society and the Central Georgia representative for the American Ghost Society; has been a featured investigator at Paranormal Underground events held at the Talbott Tavern in Bardstown Kentucky and the Mansfield Reformatory in Mansfield Ohio. He regularly speaks at local colleges, historical societies and paranormal conferences that include OmegaCon in Birmingham Alabama, GhoStock6 in Savannah Georgia, the Mid-South Paranormal Conference in Louisville and ScareFest in Lexington Kentucky.

Bob has appeared in Crescent Publishing Magazine, “Ghost Hunters of the South” written by Dr. Alan Brown and "Roswell: History, Haunts & Legends" by Dianna Avena. In 2007, Bob was honored by the request of author David H. Rousseau to write the foreword for his new book “Savannah Ghosts: Haunts of the Hostess City”.

He has been the featured guest on radio programs that include Coast to Coast AM, Ghostly Talk Paranormal Radio, Pulse Paranormal Radio in England and the nationally syndicated Lisa Birnbach Show. Bob has been involved in media projects with Turner South and Kim Eason Productions in Atlanta and is currently working with Southlan-Films on a documentary series titled “The Seekers, Investigating Southern Haunts”.

We'll have some questions to ask about Mr. Hunnicutt. Will they get any responses? Doubtful. It seems that within the paranormal field, when it comes to money making and being a [real or fake] para-celeb, this will trump being a convicted child molester.

1. When Mr. Hunnicutt was active, and if he's still active, are clients informed [especially clients with children] of his criminal past? If not, then why?

2. We notice that certain well known para-celebs are listed as working besides Mr. Hunnicutt. Here are a few of them:

We have to ask if they knew about his past as a convicted sex offender? If not, would they take a pledge not to work with him in the future and avoid working with child molesters?

3. We note that he has been a speaker and made appearances at such major conferences as MID SOUTH, run by Keith Age, and Scarefest, run by Patti Starr. Again if they knew about his criminal past, why have him at the conference?

It puts its own needs and wants over the safety and well-being of the public. Will it change? No. Because they are blinder than I am. Robbie Rascale's Rebuttal to the Bob Hunnicutt Case

We at the Eye on the Paranormal seek to be the leader in exposing paranormal fakery and deception, teachers of the word of God, open to allowing others spiritual point of views and allowing dissenting opinions a chance to be read.

The other day we were contacted concerning our investigation into BOB HUNNICUTT and his conviction of child abuse. We offered the person, Robbie Rascale, a chance to speak his mind on this matter, and he accepted. His letter is being posted as is – there has been no editing.

Mr. Robinson,
It has long be said you are a man of wisdom, fairness and a true love for the word of God. Having been brought up in a devout Christian home myself, it disturbs me to think why you would report a story without either having all the facts and/or both sides of the story.

I've known Robert Hunnicutt for over 35 years, he was a paramedic while I was going through firefighters training outside of Macon Georgia. Many of us are very much aware of the accusations and subsequent conviction but those of us who know his character and true heart are far more open to seeing the entire truth. On one occasion while working as a paramedic I have seen the man in action first hand around children of all ages and no one in my career has ever given better care and been affected by the serious injuries or death of a infant or small child.

True, Robert was accused and convicted of child molestation, there is adequate documentation on that but what you don't see is a lot of the incidents that lead to that conviction. First of all, these accusations originally began as a part of a very dirty and destructive divorce case when Robert's ex-wife made the accusation in an attempt to remove his visitations rights. It is documented in court documents in Bibb County Juvenile Court that the judge not only found him innocent but pointed out how his ex-wife and her new husband had made false statements to several authorities in an attempt to remove his visitation and chided her as saying she had attempted to poison the childrens minds. He concluded by saying if she ever attempted anything like it again in Bibb County would likely cause her to lose her custody to Robert.

Three years later another accusation was made by a day care worker who stated Robert's youngest daughter stated her daddy bit her who called the Department of Family and Children's Services and whose case worker could never get the child to repeat the alledged statement. The child was removed from the home and placed in temporary foster care, but there were no physical evidence whatsoever that any biting had taken place. In fact, the child never repeated the alledged statement to anyone ever again if in fact she ever made it at all. Robert's wife lost custody because she defended him without hestiation and was therefore punished for not admitting it was possible.

The trial was nothing more than a state sanctioned mud slinging fight where there was no physical evidence of any kind, no repeating on alledged statements by the child and the only evidence given was heresay which the judge allowed which was later the cause of an appeal and subsequent awarding a new trial.

Now you must know that Robert had already spent 2 years at the county jail and never been released to the state prison system by order of the sheriff who allowed him (Robert) to stay pending his appeal. During this entire time, Robert was never treated like as a convicted child molester and had freedom to move around the courthouse, town and even helped to transport county vehicles to the mechanic's garage and back. He worked as dispatcher when there were open shifts. When he was awarded a new trial, Robert and his family discussed the options available to them and what would be better for them. The appeal attorney's fee was over $10,000 and for the past 2 years, his wife was the sole wage earner and had already been forced to file bankruptcy because of financial hardships. Against his better judgement and at the request of his family, Robert opted for a plea bargain so he would be able to return home and help his wife recover from financial ruin and get on with their lives for the sake of the daughters life.

In the past 20+ years, there have been no further accusations or legal issues of any kind whatsoever and Robert's family recovered and flourished over the next 2 decades. He and his daughter have never been closer.

Point of interest and fact Mr. Robinson, we both know true sexual predators and pedophiles are never cured and their perverted lust is never satisfied despite treatment with medications or therapy. If Robert had been a child molester, there would have surely been new accusations and/or charges, but that is not the case. The main reason this has become an issue again is the handy work of individuals with an axe to grind and to cause severe damage to Robert's character and life. If you knew this man the way I and many others do, if you spoke with the man yourself you would clearly see the only negative thing about him is the treatment he has received as a result of certain peoples obvious agenda, notably Shannon Sylvia.

If you've never spoken to him about this you may want to as he has officially removed himself from the paranormal community because of the harm being done to those who have supported him over the years.

[We informed Robbie how we conducted our investigation without revealing any names as we always protect our sources' identities.]

Shannon Sylvia took an attack position after Robert worked an event with Mike Roberts who apparently was at odds with each other. Up until that time Robert considered her a friend and told me he still has correspondance from her where they both were very jovial and friendly with one another. No doubt the well know convention holder was Keith Age and I was with Robert last year when he told Keith over the phone that he was pulling out of the event because Sylvia was to be in attendance. All I'm asking is to look at all the info in both court and individuals who genuinely know this man who is not only tenderhearted but values the safety and protection of life. There have been times when I teased Robert because he won't even kill insects in his home, instead he captures them and sets them free. Of all the people in this world I know, Robert is one of only 5 that I would trust with my life and the lifes of my family. Despite what is out there and currently being said, he's an honorable man who if I'm not mistaken took offense to the statements and comments of Chip Coffey and Michelle Griffin (who was another who began publicly attacking him over this because of comments he made to an event promoter who promptly told Griffin of his comments) he spoke of you a couple of years ago when doing that incredibly silly internet radio show with the Divas or something to that effect. 

I'm curious about a couple of issues, first when you state you conducted a full investigation and spoke with police/court officials, whom did you speak with. Did you find out that the sheriff often set Robert with the warrant officer (who was also the sheriff's elderly father) to help him drive to and picking up or delivering other prisoners to jails in Georgia and Florida? Or that the sheriff was a huge supporter of the local boy scouts and each year had a food stand at the state fair each year and that Robert worked there with other employees and their families? I seriously doubt any law enforcement officer would allow anyone believed to be a predator of any type to take free part in these activities and many others. I'm also curious what woman complained at what conference, haven't heard about this before now. I know for a fact Robert always kept lots of people around him for obvious reasons and that many of them were women affliated with the event.

Please understand sir, for too many years I've seen this man hurt and insulted by an ordeal that took place over 20 years ago that had no physical evidence, no medical evidence and only hearsay evidence used to throw enough mud on this man to make him appear guilty. His health continues to fail, cardiac and circulatory disease as well as an aortic aneursym and for lack of a better word has given up on yet another dream of his. It's truly sad to see a man that would never turn his back on anyone or anything, see everyone turn their collective backs on him.

GOODBYE Donn Shy

When I started getting involved in the paranormal one of the things that struck me first was the bickering that always seemed to be going on between this group and that group.Fights over who had rights to some grainy out of focus picture that only showed a lack of ability to hold still while pushing a button.

It seemed people were constantly bad mouthing others for the sole reason of making themselves look better. NOTE: Whenever you find the best way to make yourself look good is to tear down the honest work of others there is a flaw in your thinking process, have it checked out.

Groups would argue over names, members, 'haunted' locations, drunk/drug using members, type of equipment being used, method, how good they looked on TV, who's story was the most real, who had the coolest t-shirts, who was an 'expert', and who knew the most 'famous' paranormal celebrities, (note: That list does not include chip coffey. He is a list all his own, see "moronic lunatics who use children for their own gain, lie about having super-powers, laugh at the medical conditions of others when they think no one is looking, and clearly have serious mental health issues which need addressing yet lack anyone who cares enough to get them the professional help they need " yes the title is long but the list is short. Chip Coffey's name is on it 3 x).

Between the infighting and drama sometimes it was hard to find much to like about the paranormal community. I can name 3 or maybe 4 people off the top of my head who never contributed to that feeling. Out of all the people I've met, helped, criticized, fought with, befriended, hated, pointed and laughed at, ther are just these few people who truly did stand out above the rest. One of them was Donn Shy. i can't tell you that I was her best friend or that I ever even had the chance to meet her in person. I can't tell you what song she would sing while she got dressed in the morning and I can't tell you who broke her heart the most times. I can't speak to every accomplishment in her life and there are a thousand other things that I will never get a chance to know about her. I can speak to some things I do know.

There have been times when I was not very well liked in the paranormal community, but Donn Shy never jumped on the hater bandwagon. She didn't judge and she didn't talk out of both sides of her mouth. She would talk to me about some new drama going on without ever being negative to either side just accepting people for what they were and there were a few times her demeanor helped me to temper my own anger so that I could see the story a bit more clearly. Donn helped support so many people including myself and her efforts made the paranormal community a more interesting endeavor. She helped make it possible that people got a chance to meet and listen to the personalities they found interesting. She brought people together and the dialog that resulted from her work made the world a more interesting place.

Donn Shy accepted people for what they were, people. I wasn't going to take a much deserved jab at chip coffey in this piece. I at first thought it would cheapen the words. Then I heard Donn Shy's voice "Reap, you troublemaker" followed by her laugh and realized there was no way for me to cheapen her memory she would have accepted anything I had written for exactly what it was, priceless memories of a friend taken too soon expressed in my own way.
   

The best way to respect someones actions in  life is to keep them alive and make sure others have a chance to know a person they will never meet for the wonderful person they were while here with us. Since nothing ever really goes away once it is on the internet I figured I would gather a bunch of those memories  from people who knew her well and some who only had a brief interaction and put them in one place to make it easier for people to recognize the type of person we lost when Donn Shy passed away. Thanks to everyone who provided these memories.


When I first started doing The SLAB, Donn was one of our biggest supporters. She used to hang out in the chat room and keep things rolling in there.She used to she was always giving us moral support. Not because we were paying her but because she was a genuinely nice person and loved doing things for others in the paranormal community. We really miss her.

Donn Shy was such a fixture in the paranormal community and if there was an event or a party you could be sure Donn would be there. I know every time I would go to an event I would immediately start looking for Donn’s funny hat that she had become famous for in the crowd. Without fail I would spot her and head over to give her a big hug.

I knew all was right when I saw Donn was on the scene. I will truly miss my little ritual and Sadly, I doubt Donn even knew that I always made sure to find her just to give her a hug and see how she was but it really had become a habit of mine. Things just wont be the same without her around but she left a big impact on the paranormal community while she was here. Her tireless efforts to advance the field will not be forgotten. She truly was loved and appreciated by all who knew her.

Donn Shy - is a paranormal investigator and documentarian for The Pasadena Paranormal Research Society.

Donn is also a photographer, videographer, and writer, and is the freelance publicist for Inner Light - Global Communications, working directly with Tim Beckley, Mr. UFO. Donn is also known as The Para-Publicist, with a growing list of clients of her own.

Donn’s fascination with the paranormal started at a very young age. Growing up hearing stories from friends, family, and neighbors about ghosts and hauntings only fueled the desire to learn more. Thus began 35 years of personal study and research.

Feeling the need to collect her own evidence, she began investigating in 2002. Proof was obtained as Donn saw her first shadow person on the USS Hornet in Alameda, California in March 2008, and a week later witnessed an actual ghost in Volcano, California.
